How do you quote on these forums?
In any case, I’m replying to OP’s post when he asked me what I thought was wrong. Just to clarify some stuff, I’m not bashing at you or trying to tell you I’m better than you, I’m trying to help you improve your build which I strongly feel is one of the worst necro builds you can run at the moment (not your fault, necro just struggles in many parts of the class).
First of all, I wouldn’t use Axe and Focus. Whilst 2 on axe is a cool move and does decent damage, 1 and 3 are way sub-par compared to what other main hand weapons can provide. Focus is alright but right now I really believe the strongest offhand is dagger, or warhorn if you play a more versatile build. BiP isn’t a good move. It says it does a lot of damage but thats only because it lasts for so long – most teams will have some sort of condition removal or a way to deal with it after 5 or 10 seconds. I haven’t really used Corrosive Poison so I won’t comment on it, but later I’ll tell you the skills I would use instead (and no room for that). Signet of spite is only really good if you have FoC or epidemic, and even then I wouldn’t use it. It’s for such a short duration that has little effect that there are better alternatives. Your ultimate, Lich Form is good as a form of burst, but that isn’t what necro’s are for. So, I’ll put below what I think you should try using instead.
Right now, there is only I think 2 (3, max) useful and effective ways of playing necro at it’s potential. The strongest one I would say is the toughness/survival build. With the right gameplay and skills, you can easily hold a node solo or delay a teamfight long enough for support to come or in many cases, even kill 2 or 3 enemies. This build also uses skills to manipulate conditions/boons, rather than create 30 stacks of them. To try and achieve this, I use this build:
Scepter for bleeding + FoC, which will be a large portion of your damage (also thanks to traits). 4 on dagger allows you to transfer conditions on you to your enemy. Really useful, and use it for that reason, not for damage. Staff is self-explanatory. Probably the strongest necro weapon for now. Consume condition is the best necro heal, especially for this build as it again helps with condition management. Spectral armour is used to help build your life force quickly and to help against a thief who’s trying to burst you or anything else, as it reduces damage by 33%. This, sometimes I swap with epidemic depending on the enemy team I face and the team I’m playing with. It’s situational. Plague signet is probably my favourite skill, and priceless to me. It’s a very big player in your attempts to manipulate conditions not just for you, but for your team. Corrupt boon has been mentioned before as the anti-guardian, it’s a really, really strong spell. Plague form is really there for survival. It lets you sit at the keep node vs 2 or 3 and just spam blind to maximise the time you delay them from capping until your team gets there (whilst even getting them low thanks to the poison).
The aim of this build is to take advantage of plague form every time its off cooldown and you jump into a fight, and death shroud everytime you have lifeforce at 100%. This way, the enemy effectively has to kill you more than once due to your shroud. Toughness on runes also let you take a shedload of damage and still feel fresh.
I’m writing this as I have to rush out, so it may seem a little rough or badly-worded – I apologise for that – but I hope the main point has gotten across.
Another way I’ve seen necro played is support/wells, which is a cool build too. I’ve never played it myself, but I haven’t complained when having one on my team ^^. Minion Master Necro I still think iskitten due to the complete lack of control you have over your minions and their stupid AI. If you’re lucky, they’ll take a few hits for you. Hope this helps as to why you might be seen as a under-par necro.
I play necro, and I haven’t had people tell me off for it. Quite the opposite actually, if I pick up something else, I’m usually asked to play necro.
In my opinion, you’re being kicked for the way you play necro, not the class. Your build is…wrong. Lol. Alright well it’s not wrong (people will hound me and say there is no right or wrong way to play a class, even though for necro there is due to its complete limited gamestyle right now), but it’s not the most effective. If I had you on my team, I too would ask you to switch to something else. No offence.
Just to let people know, we’re still interested. We have plans for more features in the guild (a site, forum, etc.) as we grow to help keep things and our system organised.
Brothers To The End [BinD] is currently recruiting PvP-orientated players for both our sPvP and WvW divisions. We don’t have any requirements other than being over 16 and of a friendly and mature nature. As sPvP only really consists of free tournaments, we haven’t implemented our tier team system meaning anyone is welcome. Once it’s introduced, we will introduce tier’d teams to separate the keen from the casual.
We use ‘Mumble’ as our VoIP, but you aren’t required to idle in it, as we use guild chat to organise our PvX and then use Mumble to play together.
We want both new/casual players as well as the more keen/experienced players. We’re happy to provide an environment of learning and laid-back gaming in order to improve people’s gameplay, but we also want to balance that out with an air of competitiveness both when we run our WvW raids and our sPvP teams.
We are located on EU server Seafarer’s Rest, and consist of players from all over Europe. The leadership, however, is based in the UK inevitably meaning the spoken language is English.
If you have any questions or are interested, feel free to reply to the thread or whisper me ingame.
Thanks,
MrPiggi.
I hate to bump my own post but I really don’t want to make a thread about it. I really need some help, this has completely cut me off from a vital part of the game as I can’t trade with friends through mail or the guild bank. This must be happening to someone else too, or there must be a way to sort it? My friends say their mail works fine…
Anyone? It’s really frustrating, as there is no trade function and our guild bank isn’t working. I have no way to transfer materials or receive them.
Hi,
I’m able to send mail to people fine, and they receive it, but I never receive anything anyone else sends to me. I just recently receive a message that a friend sent to me about a week ago.
Any idea how to fix this?
nah, you claim it, is yours till you loss it.
information of who, would be useuful, so not only the crest would be displayed, may be if you talk to the guild claimer, he could say ‘’hello this keep is under the control of lord x leader of x’’
I’m not sure you understood his point. His point was, Guilds are limited to 1 claim. What he’s saying is, right now, if I claim Stonemist for my guild, 6 hours later, an officer might come online, take over a tower and think “alright lets claim this, we need something to defend” and by claiming it, loses our stonemist claim. He’s asking for some sort of confirmation message to let him know that by claiming this tower, we lose Stonemist.
Yea, I think it should award a bit of EP. Would make a great break from the grinding!
No such thing as grinding in GW2.
Because then you’d have no incentive to touch the content of the game or WvW. The reward for sPvP, is valor. The reward for PvE/WvW is exp.
Offering people a choice of what? You don’t go sPvP to level, you go there to PvP. The only reason WvW has exp reward is because it uses your PvE character.
All I see here is someone too lazy to play the game and wants an easy way to level 80.
no. you have WvW and PvE. sPvP should stay PvP only.
Do we know when they plan to be introduced? Is there a blog post or something out there that explains everything and has a time-scale of when aNet want to implement it?
Thanks CJ for the update
appreciate it.
When are they scheduled to start? I don’t know where, but I recall reading when aNet announced they were doing 24 hour matches, that it would be for the first 2 weeks. Do we know if this is still the case?
