I have two suggestions centered around the use of ground targeting skills. The first is if you have fast cast ground targeting off when you select a skill allow us to quickly deselect the skill with right click so that if we decide not to use the ability we can easily get rid of the ground targeting reticule.

The 2nd suggestion is when you have the fast cast ground targeting turned on. When you press the key to activate a ground targeted ability the reticule should appear while the keybind is held down. Then when you release the key the spell should fire at that point. This will give us the ability to line up our ground target abilities more accurately while still providing the speed and responsiveness that fast cast provides.

Can shortbow be a viable main weapon?

There are some very nice things that shortbow does. Mostly with the synergy between our on hit effects and trick shot as well as poison and weakness when traited into Lotus Poison. Basically trick shot will apply any venoms that you have active to any target it hits but only counts as 1 use of the venom. This means you can poison and weaken multiple targets 5 times with spider venom. Leeching poison also heals for each target hit and signet of malice heals for each target hit. This gives the potential for roughly 2k healing per shot with a venom active. Additionally the poison cloud does proc lotus venom each tic which can lead to large amount of weakness on opponents which is further compounded with a cluster bomb in the middle of your poison cloud spreading an area weakness combo field effect. Weakness on your opponents has the potential to save your team from damage more than protection boons. So the short bow is not a great 1v1 weapon and the damage is not brilliant but in team fights it is excellent support for area weakness, area poison reducing opponents healing abilities and your ability to sustain your hp through leeching poisons and signet of malice.

Coated Bullets and pistol Shots

A couple questions about this trait. I know it works with the autoattack skill but does it proc the explosion damage for each enemy it passes thru? Also for Static Shot this skill normally bounces 4 times. With coated bullets does it bounce 4 times for each person it hits. I tried to test it but haven’t had much luck in the chaos of pvp to see where the shots are going. All I know is that I hit a static shot on a minion master necro and all hell broke loose and my sigil of minor corruption hit 25 stacks almost immediately.

Arenanet, I need a clarification: What did you think you fixed with speedy kits?

Yes speedy kits was unchanged. It was the vigor trait that was changed to have a icd of 5 seconds. Previously you could get the 5s of vigor for any source of swiftness. So when you combined speedy kits giving you 5s of vigor with 5 skill on med kit you had the ability to stack up you vigor faster than it would fall off thus eventually leading to infinite vigor. Then if you added outside sources of swiftness it would increase the vigor duration even more. This got incredibly crazy when you added in runes of centaur which gives you swiftness on heal skill with a 10 second icd. Swapping in and out of your med kit actually procced the centaur rune which then gave you swiftness which then gave you more vigor It also made the speedy kits swiftness trait proc which also gave you more vigor. Just goofing around I could easily get 2 minutes of swiftness and 1 minute of vigor.

^this is wrong, for example if you have 1 second burn then increase your burn duration by 25% you will see the duration on the tooltip now listed as 1.25 seconds. If you increase burn duration by only 10% instead, the tooltip will still list 1 second duration although I suspect the actual duration will be 1.1 seconds and the rounding is only for tooltips.

Actually its right. While the duration does increase as you say the damage only tics once a second so it doesn’t matter if it lasts 1.99 seconds. It has to last 2 seconds before it will increase the damage actually done.

Q: Traits still resetting in the Mists?

If you have a trait that you use in your pve/wvw build and then go into the mists with that same trait it will reset. So if your pve build is very different from your mists build or if your character is not high enough to have traits unlocked you won’t notice this.

Should structured PvP grant a small bit of XP?

I definitely think there should be xp in sPvP and tPvP. I also think the rate you gain xp in sPvP should be much lower than the rate you gain xp in PVE. So if I normally gain about a level an hour in pve it should take 2 hours in sPvP given a normal 50% win rate. I do think you should get more xp for wins and less for losses. Before xp in sPvP is implemented there needs to be an anti AFK system in place to keep people from sitting at the spawn gaining levels. XP gains thru pvp will allow me to participate in WvW with my sPvP characters and not make those people who PVE all day have a monstrous advantage over me in WvW.

It will also greatly encourage me to buy more character slots because as I level up the character in sPvP I will be much less likely to just delete em if I want to try a different profession.

First up is my warrior video. The warrior uses an axe/warhorn & a sword shield. He lives reasonably well and hits like a truck. I won my first tournament with him.

Next up is my Mesmer. Its a Sword/Pistol & Staff Mesmer with an emphasis on condition damage. Very fun and still one of my favorite classes/builds
