Necro golem rush. Lava font/meteor shower. Combustive shot. Just general cleaving. Rip turrets.
This.
Honestly I find turrets to be pretty overrated. They’re only good until they get bombed by AOE not to mention the limit you and force you to stay near one place. If you take out the rocket turret you take out their strongest attack and a knockdown, putting it on a 50s cool down. Honestly I find that there are more reliable builds out there than turrets.
Terror necros can be a tough fight for any condi build but engies especially because we have limited CC and condi cleanse.
Necros don’t have the most mobility or defense against CC. As en engi you have tons of mobility and CC.
Did you just make a 180 in a single comment?
On topic, there are no real counters to Lich Form 7K crits, you can hide or nuke them and hope they die first, that’s it. The condi spammers with MM are just very hard to beat because hitpoints are so wonderfully balanced.
CC is your best weapon, since they don’t have vigoror stability.
Not really, I never said they were an impossible fight. I just said that they are tough but they can be dealt with through effective CC and kiting.
I’m assuming that is a nades build? I personally enjoy celestial with rifle for nades but I’ve also been experimenting on rabid with dual pistol nades too. Both can work really well so it’s up to you really. Celestial gives you a little bit more direct damage and survivability making you a hybrid whereas rabbit would make you full condi. I’d say use both and decide. If you think rabid works better for you then by all means, go for it.
Terror necros can be a tough fight for any condi build but engies especially because we have limited CC and condi cleanse. All I can say is to know their rotations and learn to time you blocks/evades but really the best way imho is just don’t fight them 1v1 (which you shouldn’t really be doing in a tourney anyway).
Instead of complaining about what they are good at you should look at their weaknesses. Necros don’t have the most mobility or defense against CC. As en engi you have tons of mobility and CC, so kite kite kite, use your environment, and lock him down. This is why you would focus a necro in team fights. They cannot disengage nor can they do anything about chain lockdown.
Honestly if power builds HAVE TO use strength runes to be viable then the big issue isn’t with the runes themselves. As someone who primarily plays power builds (and uses strength runes) I would agree with a nerf to strength runes. It’s basically free might stacks for everyone. I mean if you have strength runes why would you even go zerker? You can stack enough might to deal a crap ton of damage while using a soldier’s rune and still have the survivability.
I find HGH flame thrower with rifle to be very effective (for pvp at least). Obviously you have the FT utility with the knock back and blind along with the +10 might stacks but the #2 skill on FT can hit pretty well too if you can set it up with the immobilize or something. You also have many ways to guarantee the stomping with a blind, stability, and invuln. I like to pop the stability, overcharge shot, blunderbuss, jump shot, net shot, then flame blast. This build can offer good burst, cc, utility, and survivability. I’d personally take cleaning formula over the extra 15% damage for the condi clear. With you have all the things that most engis don’t have: condi cleanse, stability, stun breaker.

With HGH alone you can always experiment with different amulets and kits just because of the nature of the build. SD is definitely a fun one and works really well with tool kit. If you are feeling really crazy though you can replace it the the battering ram and go 6/6/0/02. Turrets are getting more popular as well. Rocket turret can hurt like a kitten if you’re not careful. The more support and tanky engies are something I don’t see or play very often bit I think it would be a good place to go as well. Dual pistols are pretty underused if you feel like going the condi route. Never sleep on the burn and immobilize. The best thing about this class is that it has tons of possibilities and part of the fun is making your own build and combos.
You forget that you can kill a thief just as quick with SD as he can kill you with his backstabs. All you do is spread your burst out a little more and wait out his stealth. By no means are they impossible. Mesmers are a bigger concern for me imho and either way every build has a counter but that doesn’t make them unviable.

It’s for PvP. On the videos I saw it go for 2k+ (x4 ), which made me curious on how powerful it could be. Are there any good builds you can reccomend for this?
To get it that high tho you need to be full berserker, in which case a thief or any class really simply farting on you will down you. Thats why its not that viable
Honestly I don’t find thieves too bad with accelerant packed turrets and gear shield. There have been countless times where I have been saved by the turret knock backs and the block can stop their backstabs and whatnot. Utility goggles can also make you immune to their blinds. Thieves are a tough fight but there are ways to deal with them. It is a matter of catching them before they catch you.
Edit: The problem I have with this build is that you don’t have as many ways to disengage with this build so you have to pick your battles more carefully and that the attacks have a shorter range.

Personally I enjoy SD and HGH for power. SD has a quick no tell burst, cc, and 15 vuln stacks. You can down people within seconds and not many bunkers can keep up with you. HGH has a bit more survivability and you could go hybrid with it. Stability from elixir B I think works really well with overcharge shot because you don’t get knocked back.
I personally love static discharge. One thing to keep in mind is that you will not be that guy bunking home or mid or throwing down aloe like many other engies. Instead you trade all if that for single target burst and CC. With this build you are better off roaming of killing priority targets. Those guardians who never die will blow through all their cool downs in the first 5 seconds while you keep bursting them down. You can literally overwhelm bunkers with sheer CC and damage. Those pesky staff else’s can be pulled and busted down with ease. With the trait that gives turret knock backs you can play a little decap and create some distance against heavy melee pressure. Your insta cast Analyze and Surprise Shot can steal monsters very well. Don’t play this build if you want AOE support. Play it for the ranged no tell burst that it offers.
The worst is when you are fighting a boss and then all of the sudden you aggro the mobs around you that you just killed -_-’
Mine was originally going to be Myron but since it was taken I named him Myran instead. Thank God for the headstart :P
I chose the Vigil on my sylvari because it fits his personality. The Priory’s methods aren’t 100% and could backfire. My sylvari isn’t the best at minipulating people and the Order never told him what he was getting into so they are out. The Vigil ended being the only one left.
