Thanks A-net! The patch fixed it.
Bump on this. I am still having a frustrating time not being able to fully see this ability. It makes playing as and against Chronomancers very unenjoyable. Any fix in the works or suggestions about what else I can try?
I have been reporting on this since the weekend. I am having the same issue, and I have taken all the same steps as you. I could see the effect even after HoT went live, but after a build update last Saturday, I started having the VFX issue. Unfortunately, I have been unable to find a solution. Perhaps there is nothing we can do on our end. I am just uncertain why not everyone is experiencing it.
Quick update on this — I have tried GW2 on three different computers, all of which greatly exceed the minimum requirements, and I have the same problem on all three of them. I have tried every combination of in-game settings I can think of, and the issue persists. It is odd as only Tides of Time’s VFX is buggy. If it is a GW2 issue, I do not understand why everyone is not experiencing this. Any assistance/suggestions for why this might be happening would be greatly appreciated!

The Chronomancer shield skill Tides of Time is not appearing on my screen when I cast the spell. I can see only the part of the graphic where is flips around to return to me, but otherwise, it is invisible. It had been working for me prior to the last build update. Please fix as this makes it very difficult to use effectively!
I just wanted to add on this: I am experiencing this same issue across multiple computers. Therefore, I believe it must be a bug of some sort. That said, others are not experiencing it, so I am confused.
I reported this in the bugs forum, but I would like to see if any others are having this issue. The Chronomancer shield skill Tides of Time is not appearing on my screen when I cast the spell. It is odd because I have asked others, and they are not having any problems with the spell. I have no idea what the problem could be. Is anyone else experiencing this? Is this something on my end? I don’t know if it matters, but I tried deleting my gw2cache and even reinstalled. It is still not showing up properly.

So let me begin by saying I’ve been a huge Guild Wars fan since the start of GW1 and I’ve had such high expectations for GW2. Additionally, I think Anet has created a fantastic game but it certainly needs some work.
After the Winter’s Day activities, which involved Anet pressing the play button and then going on holidays, I was excited to see the news of what was coming up in the fresh new year. However, instead I was met with a New Year’s Sale. Now, I understand that Colin Johanson has stated that they plan to release information about the coming months in the next few weeks (Source: http://guildwars.incgamers.com/blog/comments/colin-johanson-talks-2013-content-updates) but this leaves me puzzled.
Why on Earth, after so much radio silence, such a poor effort in bug fixing, the Lost Cause and really just a lack of proactive community interaction would I be inclined to give Anet more money?
It’s simply not how it works.
Anet, you need to tell player’s what you are actually doing with your cash in order for them to keep giving you their’s. I understand that an update is coming from you, but it’s just plain disrespectful to your player base to ask for more money through a sale, displaying a player’s commitment to the game, without you showing any commitment to them first.
You are in the business of selling a product, your customers are running out of ‘good faith’ to go on.
I don’t think all of their customers are running out of good faith to go on. Your faux outrage is really bizarre to me. It is extremely common for stores to put items on sale immediately post-holidays, and there is nothing “disrespectful” about ANet doing the same. I expect many people appreciate the chance to get some items on the cheap.
The ANet team has been pretty candid about the fact that they haven’t been running on full staff over the holidays, so I can’t imagine why you are shocked that they don’t have a big post about future plans laid out for you immediately post-holidays (when not even all of their staff has returned). They did, however, post information telling us that an update on future content is coming shortly, and they provided, in very broad terms, an overview of that content. That, by definition, is communicating with the playerbase.
I realize that ANet hasn’t met most of our expectations with respect to bug fixes and communicating to us that certain things are known issues. However, a few weeks of “radio silence” over the holidays does not mean they have never had “proactive community interaction” with us. We know what ANet is doing with at least some of the cash we give them: developing new content and systems. Even if they haven’t been forthcoming with specifics, they haven’t kept it a secret that they have several teams in place working on content.
This post strikes me as “much ado about nothing.” Now, if we come to the end of January without the promised updates, let’s revisit this subject. ;- )
next question would be. How do I get level 80 exotics if no one is doing the Orr Runs?
is it just crafting then?
Cheers for replying. Atm I thought it was pretty much Orr with no one doing the other dungeons since the new patch. At least that is the case on my server.
Even though this this gent opted to uninstall the game, as someone who is just about to hit level 80, I’d still like an answer to this question. I don’t know much about the 80 exotic grind. = ) Thanks in advance!
don’t want to burst any bubbles, BUT…
when will you people learn that Arenanet is bad at these things. its a simple result of over-spending on lore department and leaving other departments under-funded.
all of the future patches will always be late due to this, so whenever arenanet gives you a date, add +24 hours automaticly and you will never be dissapointed. And as far as this thread goes…. CC Eva has been assigned to close topics related to the patch release, so it will be closed soon. (all other 10+ were)
I agree to some extent. ANet isn’t very good at clearly communicating when items will be released, nor are they great at getting things out on time. I felt like the way they handled the Halloween update release was disappointing, and I’m hoping this one doesn’t go the same way.
I don’t feel anywhere near the hatred for this move that some of you are displaying, but I do have some reservations about it.
From today’s post by Murdock:
“By adding challenging new combat mechanics to end-game content and ways to mitigate those mechanics through gear progression for high-end players, we can add personal progression without making the game feel like an endless treadmill of gear that is just out of your reach.”
Doesn’t the above statement seem a little contradictory? Even reading it in context, it doesn’t make sense to me. You create new mechanics that can only be dealt with by “gear progression” and then say that this creates a sense of personal progression without creating a gear treadmill. O_o
Am I missing something?
