Turn reflections off. This helped me a lot. Pushing 5.1m pixels is no joke.
I hope you are not running it at native resolution… Maximum what 650M is capable of while still retaining reasonable performance is 1920×1200 (which is far from 5.1m pixels
)
But it’s still showing all the pixels. It’s not like it turns off the difference in pixels, it just doesn’t run that at a native resolution. It works like the display scaling in Mac OS X, it renders 3840×2400 then adjusts it to the screen’s resolution. And on boot camp I can actually run it at native

Yes.
I get the same FPS on Mac and Windows, but the settings are very different. Windows is basically max at 1920×1200 while Mac is at medium at 1680×1050. It’s a different experience.
I set a screen cap of 30 on my rMBP. Doing that makes my fans not even audible.
You are absolutely right. I can now run it at 1680×1050 with shadow on medium and shaders on medium at my cap of 30 fps. Something with the rMBP and reflections does not work right in Mac. I don’t have this issue in the PC version.
Significantly worse than in boot camp on rMBP base 2.3/8/256
