I think the idea someone suggested of letting us set up requested criteria like min AP, min lvl, and class required to be able to even join the party, would fix this issue all together.
I can’t believe there are a bunch of replies here saying that OP was wrong, and or that they had what was coming to them.
No one has the right to come in and steal your progress in any instance, or any manner. Dungeons included.
No one is obligated to carry any tier of bad player through anything. There are many good to mediocre players who just don’t have the time or will to teach others, and they shouldn’t be forced to.
Party leaders having ultimate say would mean you could just not join their party if they have the priority leader function enabled.
@Galen Grey
You missed the whole point of him asking them to bring heavies. They were evidently new and would extend his 2 am dungeon trip even longer so he suggested they bring heavies as it would make the path doable. Why does he have to help 3 newer players in the middle of the night? Also he doesn’t have to start the dungeon earlier, he can play when he wants.Evidently his duo didn’t go as planned, and he wanted 3 others to help them finish it so they could resume whatever practice another day. Instead, thanks to the party system, 3 players came in, stole his instance then squandered it by leaving anyway which is even more infuriating.
Just because LFG is there, it doesn’t mean you have to accept playing with anyone. When did this become a thing? If a matchmaking service set you up with random people you’d have to date every single one? No, you can pick and choose, LFG is like said above a platform to ALLOW co-operation, not an obligation to co-operate.
Yes Elitists who are wholly too extreme exist, but the opposite does also, which are ‘dowhatIlike’ players who not only refuse to fulfill set requirements but also choose to be carried by those Elitists. They are both as rotten as each other, the rest of us shouldn’t have to suffer for their BS.
Thank you, though I can’t tell if you’re calling me out on being Elitest, I don’t feel like I am, and don’t think it was elitist of me to know my limitations, like the ability to carry 3 inexpereanced light armored players in Arah. (Arah is not my beach yet, still trying to tame her)
Also I do take on newbies to dungeons I know well and am willing to teach, even this expereance doesn’t turn me off from that, but when I don’t feel like carrying/teaching I think I should be able to find other players of similar skill set to mine.
P.S. Not like it matters very much, I, OP is a lady not a dude.
i stopped reading at “3k ap”
I wish they did too, and kept on going past my post, instead of joining.
3k ap is not an obnoxious request. Unless you had your account lost/stolen/banned and had to restart, I feel like majority of people don’t know how to play their class well until they’re past 3k AP. This was an LFG for Arah not AC I didn’t ask to show gear, I just wanted someone who knew how to dodge grubs and not die from one kick on Lupi, and you think that was too much to ask for.
you put a lfg asking for experienced people. They didn’t do much wrong except they are not experienced.
I presume you didn’t state you are at middle of dungeon.
LFG listing said: P2-Exp-3kAP-Heavy (at Lupi)
But also after they joined, I nicely asked if they could swap to heavies and that’s when I got kicked, I was even willing to deal with 1.8k and 2.2k and 1.2k ap (that’s roughly their ap) none above 3k
But that sucks, I get punished because I’m an experienced player… I’ve been with Guild wars from first game to this day, but this honestly first time I felt this mistreated. I feel so frustrated with this.
Next time report them for LFG abuse. Anet will have access to chat logs as a result and will be able to see what was going on. Pretty sure they’ll take action against people joining groups in lfg and then kicking out those who listed it.
edit: the new mechanic is also MUCH fairer than it used to be (aside from the lack of ability to veto a kick)
I was just too upset to do anything to report those guys, I don’t normally ever use that feature, and now I don’t remember their names, and no way am I ever using LFG again unless I have 2 other guildie/friends with me…
I do a lot of “I should have” but it’s all too late now…
Also Thanks for understanding my frustration guys, reading your replies actually calmed me down a bit. Appreciate you all!
I am suggesting a fix: how about if you’ve been in same dungeon over 40 min and get kicked you automatically get half the reward money and full tokens….
That would be exploited by a group of friends or guildies so easily though. Afk for 40 minutes, come back, get some friends to join and kick you, free profit.
Yeah, no.
Personally for me 40 min is time it takes to do two AC paths so 1.5gold for 40 min would be a loss and worth it at all.
I do like someone-else’s idea, where maybe they let you customize LFG with like check marks for Ap and Class so unless you match both of those criteria you can’t join the group, it should still be visible in case you are willing to swap to requested class… I could live with that… But they seem to only cater to newcomers.
Just really upsetting that those guys last night didn’t simply steal half way finished instance, they also dropped it without completing it. They obviously read the LFG description that said P2-Exp-3kAP-Heavy (at Lupi) and then just ignored all the requests. Yes I know I asked for a lot, but I would never join a group that was that specific, because I’m not a troll like they were.
I am suggesting a fix, either or:
1) Revert it to two people enough to kick.
2) If you’ve been in same dungeon over 40 min and get kicked you automatically get half the reward money and full tokens.
3) Allow additional options for LFG tool like selecting specific class and AP, listing could still be viewed but if you don’t meet requested criteria, you can’t join…

My friend and I started Arah P2, legitimately duo-ing to see how far we can get.
We got to Lupi and then realized we needed help.
We posted LFG asking for experienced players as in 3k ap or more.
We wanted to finish up because it was near 2am pacific and we shouldn’t have stayed up that late anyway.
3 people join, 2 ele & 1 necro all under 3k ap, I let them know that I really don’t feel up to teaching the run this late at night and can they bring heavy armored classes…
Instead I get voted up for kick by the 3 new people who are apparently friends…
My friend didn’t say anything so they kept him, they died on the way to Lupi (the way point is up, but they’re just so inexperienced that they think they have to run to Lupi from the beginning)
Anyway my friend mentions the fact that they should know to use the way point and they kick him also.
A couple of minutes we notice them standing just outside the dungeon, so I confront them, they say oh yea we just left, sorry for kicking you, want to do the path from the beginning with us….
So my instance I worked so hard for is just lost, because I have no way of holding it.
This is so incredibly unfair, if party kick was still the old way, my friend and I would have kicked them before it got that far, but because there was not 3 of us, we had no rights as dungeon starters
ANET PLEASE FIX THIS INJUSTICE!!
My character is 12 month old now and did not receive birthday present
I played since head start 25 August .
My friend and I both made our characters within a few minutes of each other on three day early start and she has her birthday presents on all toons made that day and I don’t on any of mine.
-First feature I miss dearly as a co-leader of a guild is the “time stamp” of how long it has been sense your guildie has logged on.
-Second feature I miss the “follow” feature that way I could set my toon to follow someone and while it’s following I would entertain my companion with chat.
Dear Devs Pretty please consider at least the first feature, guild roasters are a mess in every guild.
A lottery usually maintains it’s prize. Selling tickets for a prize that no longer exists without letting people know through conventually means (patch update notes) is really not cool and I feel for the OP.
I guess the point of this lottery was to keep me on the game to gain gold to turn into gifts and so on… (not that I need to be kept on the game with a leash, I already am on the game a lot
)
I have been cheated by my favorite game! I know it must be silly of a grown woman in my stage of life (mom of 2 and all) to be so saddened by this, but the feeling of sleazy cheap trick that was played on me has hurt.
Of all companies you were an example, but no more. I am talking about the fact that you can no longer get a quaggen out of a Giant Wintersday Gift and all the gold I spent and all the time I spent grinding, yes that’s what it was, grinding to get the Quaggen, has been for not all along.
I’m sorry your struggles! The psychology of a lottery can easily take advantage of all of us. I wish you the best and hope you find a solution.
Thank you, I’ve not even realized it, but it sure did suck me in… The only reason I came across the information is because I specifically searched “Can you get quaggen from Gift” because I noticed that I couldn’t sell something to trading post as I didn’t have enough coin to pay for the fee LOL
I am glad I decided not to go for festivoo the merry – I had intended to do exactly what OP did, and would have been wasting my time. This is exactly what update notes are for, and there’s really no excuse for making changes like this behind the scenes.
I absolutely agree about the patch notes and I kept checking on that and I have the hardest time even finding them I keep finding ones for like November. I guess I need to learn this site better.
I have been with you from the first I bought two accounts to get more character slots before you even added the option to just buy character slots.
Extra character slots have been available in the gem store since BWE2. So you wasted money buying 2 accounts when you could have purchased extra slots this whole time.
Everything else you said is just laughable.
Perfect World, as a company, plays the RNG bigger than any other gaming company. You even mentioning their game is ridiculous. Comparing a 7 year old crappy f2p game that is supported by a company that will, quite literally, eat your wallet and soul to guild wars is just so sad.
I believe she was talking about GW1, where many of us purchased multiple accounts as there was no option to purchase slots and there was no gem store. The rest of your reply is rude and not worth commenting on.
Thanx hon I did mean Guild Wars 1, and thanx for understanding my unclear rant. (P.S. Thank you for sticking up for me too
)
Anet I expected so much more from you. I have been with you from the first I bought two accounts to get more character slots before you even added the option to just buy character slots. I remember Wintersday as a happy gifts galore event. I want you to know about my most disappointing thing about Guild Wars 2. My friend and I were waiting for the day Wintersday would open, we were excited about the gifts and all the events and the decorations.
I then saw and immediately fell in love with the quaggen, called Foostivoo the Merry. As a poor stay at home mom I knew I couldn’t possibly spend any real money I would use for my kids on a toy for myself with in a toy…. so How I was excited when my friend after opening about 1000-1500 Giant Wintersday Gifts got her self a Foostivoo the Merry!!!
For the next two weeks All I did in the game was to get the Giant Wintersday Gifts. I spent all my money buying them and did events over and over just to get that one more with hope for the cute quaggen….
Today I found out by accident that it is no longer possible because you changed it. You changed the rules half way through and didn’t let me know. Me who follows you on on facebook and still logs on to Guild Wars 1 and me who always sticks up for Anet for taking care of their people. I have been cheated by my favorite game! I know it must be silly of a grown woman in my stage of life (mom of 2 and all) to be so saddened by this, but the feeling of sleazy cheap trick that was played on me has hurt.

I feel no different going back to Perfect World to spend my money on things I know will be there in what I buy without one out of million chances. I hope you might redeem yourself as you do after all events seems like, and I know the game has been out only a few month. But I thought if you didn’t know how you disappointed me you couldn’t do anything about it. Now may be you would. Live up to it Anet. Pretty Please.
Well that’s sad
but may be some day I might have that armor
I better start saving up the gold now…. hahaha
I really like the fifth armor in this picture, So the far right one. Is this concept art of an actual armor or just a tease? Please help if you know. Looks like a Guild Wars 1 Mez armor style.

It seems that Dragonbrand has very small presence during the waking hours of PST. Seems that if I want to participate and actually have a chance at joining some in taking a tower I have to do it around 3am pacific and that’s just not doable. I tried to play at 6pm and we just kept dying because to our 15 people in a group we had about 40 Maguma or Fort Aspenwood who swarmed and attacked us in plane land not at a tower or a supply just found us and killed us. All I did was repair my armor for two hours and I feel sad that I can not take part in this supposedly fair part of the game.
