Hey so just a little suggestion that I’d personally like to see.

When selecting an item in the TP, another window opens up with the buy/sell prices, quantity desired, etc. The only way to close this window (as far as I know) is to click the X in the corner. If this window could be closed with the ‘escape’ key, then I think it would allow for a more convenient and quicker shopping experience. Currently, the escape key closes both the item window and the TP window.

Ideally, one press of escape closes the item window and a subsequent press closes the TP window.

Edit: Really, it’d just be nice if there was a keyboard shortcut to close the item window.

Megaservers: Find people in the same server?

in WvW

Posted by: Narum.7402

Narum.7402

I’ve brought this up in some other threads and felt like I should just make a new thread dedicated to it.

I’ve returned to the game for the first time really since beta/launch, and what’s new to me are the Megaservers. I’m confused as to how I should find other people to roam WvW with. I joined a guild and asked around to see if anyone else is on the same server as me (Yak’s Bend), and so far I have found no one else. How do you guys recommend connecting with others of the same server in-game?

I have only one request… unbind WvWvW from server and makes it AvAvA. Due to megaservers it’s close to impossible to find WvW players willing to band together anymore.

I don’t know what AvAvA is, but I just returned to the game for the first time since launch and joined a new guild. I was disappointed when no one in my guild, which is PvP centered, could do WvW with me =/. I struggle to find ANYONE to roam with too, to be fair.

I don’t have any, but if I’m remembering correctly, Legendary Weapons can change their stats at will. If we had legendary armor that could do that as well, then that’d be pretty darn cool.

General thoughts on servers

Narum.7402

Regarding a “PvP server,” I think that would be interesting if we could designate characters to participate in that. I wouldn’t want to have my whole account tied to a PvP server, but hopping on one every now and then seems like it could be fun.

Regarding the megaservers, I recently came back to the game for the first time since beta/launch. I love the megaservers and I see a LOT more people in PvE zones. I’ve made a lot more in-game friends because of the higher pops. My only grumble with the megaservers is that I’m on Yak’s Bend, I like to roam, and I can’t for the life of me find anyone else in-game to roam with. I used to roam WvW with friends and guildies, but most friends have since left or swapped servers. I joined a new guild hoping to find people to roam WvW with, but they’re all tied to different servers. It really really sucks that I can’t do PvP stuff with a PvP-focused guild =/.

Chronomancer concerns

Keep in mind that you’re sacrificing the ability to pick a third mesmer core spec by taking the chronomancy line. That being said, you can’t just load up a typical mesmer shatter build, spec for alacrity, and have it be defautly better. That build has to be drastically different because you’re removing an entire third of what created that build in the first place.

You need either Factions, Prophecies, or Nightfall along with Eye of the North to earn points yes. However, if you want to earn 30 or 50 points, you’ll need all 3 plus EotN. Even earning 10 points might be difficult with just one campaign.

Arcane has THREE Grandmaster traits, Anet

Narum.7402

You guys complain too much.

ANet said that this is all work in progress, and if there is a build that will be ruined by the changes you should let them know, they said that multiple times during the stream.

And assuming a build gets ruined, so what??, you’re not meant to be playing the same build for years, for a bunch of people talking about diversity you cling too much to your builds.

Games change, you can either help make the change, adapt to the change, or keep complaining about the change while clinging to the past, and i’d rather be the former.

All classes are getting things shifted and modified, what makes you think YOUR current build will be balanced when thrown into the mix of all other classes and builds??, it’s not like only your own air or arcane ele builds are getting changed, EVERYONE’S builds are getting changed.

/thread.

Seriously, if you guys are that overly concerned about something that we really don’t know anything about still, read some other threads instead of making another one of the many just whining.

Narum.7402

There’s a post exactly like this literally (at least) twice a day. Now, okay, to be fair, that alone shows how concerned some members of the community are. But every single one of the posts is met with “id rather have 3 viable options than 1 out of 10” which is exactly the right answer, and the precise reason ANet is doing this. ANet WANTS us to have build diversity, they’re just realizing that with the current system, they are so many useless traits that people get pigeon-holed into the same builds. If you think there is a lot of diversity around right now, you’re not paying attention.

Yes, there will always be a meta, and there will always be a build/prof that’s at least slightly better than the rest, but I think this majorly increases diversity, especially giving us only three specs to go in.

My idea (and maybe the devs, speculating) with the traits, with ele for example, was always like “hmm…well I like ele, but I wanna be a fire mage primarily!” With the current setup, I’d probably put traits and 4-5 lines. There’s nothing special about that. Now, if I want to be a fire mage, I’ll choose fire magic, a spec line to support it, and a spec line to complement/fill in weaknesses.

So, as mentioned above, from a balance and viable option perspective, we’re getting a much better deal now. From a thematic perspective of character customization and specialization, we’re getting an opportunity to define who are characters are even more.

The necromancer class is a joke right?

in Necromancer

Posted by: Narum.7402

Narum.7402

Calm down dude. No one can say ANYTHING about the incoming balancing because literally every single number we saw may as well mean nothing. They joked that they probably should have just set every number to 5000. They’re going over traits and the general effect of them, not balancing numbers. That’s literally the easiest part.

As for why they felt “rushed,” they had to rush through every class. They went over their alloted time, so yeah, I’m sure they didn’t want to turn what was supposed to be a four hour stream into what could easily have been a six-hour.

As for any questions you had about AI changes, they were really only focusing on traits for this AMA, so of course they’re not going to completely change topics. You and anyone else worried about numbers/balance is foolish to do so. We still don’t know what it’ll be like when it ships. If you have any concerns other than “omg my class is a joke now,” such as the “spirit of your build being lost,” then make a post about it. Spreading anxiety on the forums does nothing.

Also some traits have been moved around. For people that are saying they can’t run a build because it used to span 4 different trees, the traits all tend to synergize a bit more and you could be getting the exact same effect with just 3 trees now.

Hey just looking at acid bomb, it says it does 210 damage. I don’t see how this is the highest damage for an engi when landing jump shot, for example, does 405.

I do, however, see that acid bomb lasts for 5 seconds. Does that 210 damage pulse every second?

Narum.7402

So before everyone kills me, this is seriously an honest question. I see the elixir gun being taken often in builds and I’m positive I’m missing something in my own personal playstyle that is causing me to overlook its value. To put myself in a context, I’m level 40 running map completion, dungeons, and personal story.

Basically, it doesn’t seem like it does a whole lot of damage compared to bombs, nades, or rifle. Maybe I’m underestimating the condis? And it doesn’t seem to give as much utility as the Tool Kit (which has great damage as well).

So I mean yeah, if someone could kind of just give me a brief overview of why the Elixir Gun is actually pretty good, I think that’d help me to look outside my own playstyle to see its value.

Edit: I do realize the Tool Belt grants a stun breaker, but there are other skills that do that better if that’s the Elixir Gun’s only value. (Elixir S for example).

EditEdit: Maybe to specify more (and after asking some engis ingame), I’m primarily seeing the Elixir Gun in sPvP. What makes it a good grab?

Title. I played a bit on release for about a month and have recently gotten back into GW2. I’m looking to amp up my sPvP game by learning a bit of meta and also learning who the top streamers are for each Profession; specifically Engi, Necro, and Mesmer. I’m interested in watching each profession, however, as I gotta know my enemy ;D. Who do you guys recommend?

Links to twitch/youtube channels are most appreciated^^

Edit: Didn’t previously specify, I’m interested in watching sPvP streamers, though I suppose if there’s some particularly good WvW streams, I’m interested in that as well.

Hey just updating on my achieving =) I’ve found the easiest (quickest) way to earn what I have has been to VQ for norn/asura points using my old discordway hero build with some SoS rits.
For money, I’ve been farming Auspicious Beginnings (nets 5 War Supplies and 1k ~every 5 mins). That gets me my EV rep points. I’ve already made one more Oppressor and am halfway to my second (for a total of 4).
I’ll then farm enough for a fifth weapon for another point, and that’ll give me enough gold for the last set of armour (I’m completely broke now haha), and buying my 40th mini.
I’m wondering though, is there a good place to solo farm as a necro for ectos? It’d probably be easier to just farm ectos and use that to buy a destroyer weap/armor rather than doing Auspicious Beginnings 51 more times haha.

Anyway, thanks!

One last question: I only have master reward in 3 of the 20 Nightfall missions. I also will be getting the 3 EotN titles (only need rank 5 I believe?) as well as the Conqueror of Sorrow’s Furnace. Protector of Elona would be the last title I need for 30 points. Is there a quicker title to earn than repeating 17 missions in Nightfall?

I’m avoiding PvP titles as they take a long amount of time to do. Again, I’m completely broke and have little to no progress on PvP titles. I’ve read doing Frostway DoA runs is the quickest way to get money and that I should buy armor/weaps/minis to fill it out, but I’m broke and there doesn’t seem like there’s a huge existing player base in GW1 to assist with farming/trading =(

Ive made 50 platinum from 3 days vanquishing and that’s before selling any rare runes or crafting mats. It really mounts up

I’m not familiar with vanquishing. What is it?

Vanquishing involves clearing whole zones in hard mode. With the right hero set up, it almost does itself, however it is a very good platinum gainer whilst also working towards other titles.

Likewise you have Guardian, which is the clearing of missions on a campaign in hard mode

Cool! I’ll definitely look into it. Thanks!

3) Titles – Your missing one Protector. Otherwise, Vanquisher, Skill Hunter, Cartographer, and Guardian are some relatively simple but time consuming titles to get. Eternal Conqueror of Sorrow’s Furnace is one I have which means I did it with heroes. I don’t really remember it though.

I’m missing one protector because I only needed 5 titles to get the points, I’ll have to look into getting these other titles though and see how close I am. Thank you!

Hey so I recently came back to GW2 after preordering and playing a bit on release as well as off and on since. I earned all my HoM points thus far prior to GW2 release and would like to see if it’d be relatively quick to get the last 6 points.

https://hom.guildwars2.com/en/#page=details&details=IAAAAgs%2FvWDAgQAAAgDAAgAAAAIAAAAATEEAQAAAAAA&todo=AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
That is my current progress for the HoM. If you don’t want to view the link it breaks down as follows:
Devotion 4/8
Fellowship 7/8
Honor 8/18
Resilience 2/8
Valor 3/8

It being years since I played GW1, I only remember that I left the game with a necro main and used the last of his money and crafting mats to get the 24th point. I’ve looked at some guides of quick-to-30, but I’m not sure where to start with them since mine is mostly where I’d like it.

PS, I know receiving rewards in GW2 is currently disabled, but I have some time on my hands and would like to earn the remaining 6 points if I can. Thanks!

Edit: Link isn’t working for me, name of character is ‘Androvidas Hawk’
