Hm. Conflicting info here. :S I’d rather not have to spend $50, but… blah! Can anyone clarify the conflicting thoughts above?

To be honest, I wasn’t really sure how to search for this question, so I apologize if an answer is rather obvious.

A friend of mine had to start a free account, as he didn’t want to transfer his entire existing EU account over to play with my husband and I. I’ve felt pretty bad watching him deal with the restrictions of the free accounts, and I’d like to gift him an upgrade. So I went poking at the cash shop to see what I could do. What I’m unclear about is what I can buy him to upgrade his account to “not free”.

There’s currently a “Digital Deluxe” upgrade for ~$30 on the shop (not HoT). It doesn’t make any mention of this removing f2p restrictions, but then neither does the HoT upgrade. Would this “Digital Deluxe” upgrade remove the f2p restrictions on his account if I gifted it to him?

Thanks in advance!

@TheGreyhawk – Oh wow, thank you! I swear I scoured the Options menu a dozen times but somehow missed that ticky box. The thing you’re looking for is always right in front of you, eh?

Disappointing regarding the outlines… I don’t really understand why something like that isn’t a toggle – just like nameplates, where you should be able to pick and choose what models it shows up on (enemy NPCs, friendly npcs, enemy players, friendly players, etc). :/

In that case, I’d like to formally ask ArenaNet, if they are at all listening, to please consider adding these options. The game is gorgeous… up until I’m forced to stare at these outlines when I’d rather be taking pictures!

Haven’t played the game for well over a year, probably more but my sense of time is all wonky. So there’s plenty I’m still struggling to figure out (like wtf my hero points), but one thing that is ultra bothering me is the colored outline. I know it’s been there forever, but good god do I want to turn it off for friendly players.

It’s ruining my screenshots with my husband. Get these beautiful shots lined up and… ew, ugly blue/white outline around his character model. Please is there a way to turn this off?

Also, am I blind or is there no way to zoom in to first person? I already had to make a workaround for taking not-jpeg screenshots (not sure why ANet decided that was a good idea xD), but I am such a shutterbug and love taking environment shots in the games I play. :S
