Just wait- they’re going to spend lots of time trying to make the Shatterer and Claw of Jormag JUST as difficult (if not 10x harder) than Tequatl! That’s what they’re spending their time on. “Let’s make these bosses as difficult as we can!”
^ I wouldn’t complain about that though. I love the current Tequatl fight….
But yeah, that aside- I don’t always participate in the living story- but I’ve found quite a few them really fun. The more time they spend on them, the better. I’m looking forward to the Jan 21 updates!
If possible, I would like to join the guild as well.
Invited. Next guild attempt is tomorrow- though I may not be able to participate myself. Good luck guys!
Fight about to start!
Taco should be up in a few minutes
Come join us for a hopefully organized run on Gates of Madness! We’re a bit short on numbers- but we got him down 50% in the last run!
Where: Main server GoM
When: Uh- soon.
Teamspeak: ts30.gamespeak.com:9154 (In the Teq sub-room)
Do not join if you aren’t going to follow the strategy and listen to the TS. We need organization to win!
Sorry for the lag in the invites- they should all be sent now! Busy weekend- forgot to check this forum thread. xD
Also- if you didn’t get your invite- make sure you’re not already in 5 guilds.
Okay- all above invited. If you didn’t get an invite- it’s cause you’re at the 5 guild maximum.
I’m heading off for the night- just post here in the forums if you’d like to be added- or drop me some mail.
Mind if I get an invite? I’ve been itching to kill this thing.
Sent!
It’s not too late until we’ve got 500 members!
I don’t know if I’ll be on in five hours- but the guild has certainly grown- and now has a strategy to use against Taco. Hopefully they’ll pass down the info in detail before fights if I’m not online.
Darkace- the main reason BG people are guesting other servers was the influx of people guesting BG as a result of their first victory. Be proud that your server is helping the rest of the servers.
Invited all of the above.
We’re at 67 members plus maybe 20 on the invite list- so soon we’ll begin preparing our strikes!
I’m confident with some time we can begin to kill Tequatl more consistently- or at least come close. We didn’t even use Teamspeak in our last attempt- but the map chat helped a bit with that. Just gotta find a way to type commands quickly and effectively. xD
And let’s face it- this fight is FUN when you’re not being brutally slaughtered and actually have a chance of winning. xD
Congrats, you guys!
And admit it- this event is a heapload of fun (when you’re not being slaughtered nonstop)
Mexay- that is what we hope to achieve. Like the other guild, we want to ORGANIZE to take down Tequatl. With a guild- it’s a bit easier. We can assign duties via ranks and explain everything on the guild chat. Lastly- we can get numbers. Several servers have trouble pulling together the numbers needed for the fight- so the guild will also allow us to coordinate getting people in one server for the fight.
Here’s the thing with Blackgate guesting to ET…
Before Blackgate showed up: We had maybe 30 people fighting Tequatl… Then Blackgate came and helped- bumped our numbers of by another 30 or 40. Then word got around and other ET locals came rushing in what seemed like their best chance for victory. Of course- other servers heard BG was there- and they came rushing too- hence the creation of the overflow.
A lot of Eredon Terrace locals got loot, experience- and (in my opinion) the best time we’ve had on GW2. Could we have done it without BG’s help? I’ll put my pride as a ET local aside and say this: Probably not.
But now, we know how to fight Tequatl. An hour and a half later- another fight- it seems hope for victory is up because a lot of people showed up- enough for overflow (Blackgate left)- and while we didn’t win- we had our best run in a while (not counting the BG help runs). We got him to 1/2 health and got the Flawless Defense Achievement.
Bottom line is- BG helped us not only by giving us our first victory- but showing us first hand what to do. Therefor- I am grateful to the Blackgate guests for helping. Even if we had not won with them- I’m still grateful.
Isn’t this what the event is supposed to do? Bring together players to fight? Okay- so guesting is gonna happen a lot more- but what fun is this event with 30 people and getting slaughtered nonstop. Being able to fight, survive- and see the hope of victory is great! It makes it more fun with more people.
I would like to say- as a Eredon Terrace local- I am GRATEFUL to Blackgate’s help. They taught us the strategy and helped many local ET players get loot.
Richard- Thank you very much- in fact- I might take you up on that offer. I’m a bit broke from buying new Tequatl- er… undead slaughtering gear. xD I have barely enough for the expansions, but that’s about it.
Also- guild expanded- so all other people who’ve posted have been invited. We’ve got 43 confirmed members with many pending invites.
Once we’ve got over 80 members- we’ll start organizing to take down Tequatl!
For those of you with pending invites- PLEASE accept ASAP- I can’t expand the guild or invite anyone else right now. v-v
Let’s not turn this into a competition. There were plenty of local ET players there too- and I DID thank Black Gate for the help.
The event is a LOT more fun when you’re actually doing well in it. I wish all other servers luck- with or without help.
I’m forming a guild that will be dedicated to killing Tequatl- so we will organize when we can.
Yup! Eredon Terrace succeeded today!
Here’s the video link~! (Forgive my horrible skills in both camera and the actual game!)

Thanks a ton to Blackgate people for helping us with Teamspeak and such!
Yes, we’ve got people with commander icons.
Also, all above invited.
Everyone above has been invited!
Note: Eredon Terrace just attempted to defeat Tequatl with the help of Blackgate. There is an overflow to get in- but we almost got him down to 25%!
The guild is slowly growing!
Once we’ve got enough people in, we’ll try to organize an assault on Tequatl.
I’ve made a new guild in case anyone wants to join. Same purpose and all!
Above invited as well
- Also, when Tequatl is up, I am unlikely to respond to whispers- so it might be best to request here. xD
All of the above have been invited.
Notice: Blackgate is helping Eredon Terrace fell Tequatl. Our undead friend should be up within the next hour or two! People are going into overflow!
I invited ya.
Okay, so since the other Tequatl killing guild filled up, I decided to make a new guild to allow more people to organize together! Just whisper Nevati or post here to get an invite! I’ll be online as often as I can to invite people in!
I’ll use the previous guild’s organization in this one- basically- I’m following their example! Here’s the link to their thread so you can see how it’ll work…

I’m not too savvy with how running a guild works- so bear with me.
EDIT: I’m going offline for the night- just post here in the forum or drop Nevati some mail in game. I’ll get it eventually.

I created a new Tequatl slaying guild on the NA servers in case anyone wants in since the original one is full. Same purpose as this one. Just whisper Nevati – We must slay Tequatl!
Although I’m already seeing lower and lower attendances on our server each spawn and I agree big parts of the day are hadrer to fill spots with, bringning back old Teq for those times would be bad and prob impossible. Remember he spawns on all servers and then overflows at the same time. Diff servers and zones have diff peak times and it would prob wouldnt be possiblt on a technical level to do this. Also, ppl would just ignore new teq even more and wait until old teq comes round.
The only thing I’m not a fan of is the time limit. It’s disproportionate to the fight and other bosses and tbh I would enjoy a more prolonged battle. Having said that, I’m also not going to call for a nerf yet. It’s too early and clearly there’s a huge number of ppl having fun with it and getting satisfaction from the win.
Long term sustainability? Probably not, but changing it down the line is viable when ppl are
a) bored of failing
b) got the achievements and no longer feel motivated to continue
Fair enough- just thought I’d throw something out there that I haven’t seen suggested yet. I personally like the new difficulty- and a longer fight WOULD be more fun. I just think that if the fight is too long people wouldn’t be able to stay for the entire thing- and not get their loot at the end (assuming we’d actually win)- and that could also discourage people from coming.
But it’s still too early to decide what changes need to be made. There’s still plenty of opportunity to learn and build strategies. He’s clearly not unbeatable- we just need a consistently working strategy- and if we can’t find one in a week or two (or three) then it may be worth considering nerfing Tequatl a bit. A bit. I like having a challenge. Want an easy boss? Go fight pretty much every other open world boss. They’re still easy enough.
No feedback on these ideas?
Okay, so we all agree- New Tequatl is hard. Very hard. However, he isn’t impossible to defeat… but still, I think some changes are in order. I like to think that the devs read through all of the feedback- even the repetitive whining that is overall unnecessary. I also like to think they’ll be making changes in the next week or two after things settle down. It’s only been a day- so we all can’t jump to conclusions… with that in mind, here is what appears to be one of the bigger issues….
Server population. This fight requires 80 people- yes? Well, that’s hard to get on smaller seervers. I’m in Eredon Terrace- I don’t know if it’s ranked as big or small- but I can say that none of the fights I’ve helped in were filled with 80 or more players. In fact- a group of twenty of us just got slaughtered earlier.
This needs to be addressed- I know AN wants to make a challenging fight- but relying on 80 people to show up and actively participate? It makes it impossible for most of the day when school and work keep most people away. I’m not going to beg for a nerf- but perhaps a scaling so that he’s not quite as unbeatable with a group of say- 30 or 40- make it that he’s JUST as difficult for smaller groups as he is for larger groups. It’s been done before, right? I enjoy the challenge- but it’s more fun when you barely fail than when you get destroyed in under two minutes.
Now, coming from my previous statement- an alternate suggestion- mornings and early afternoons are dead time. Everyone is gone- getting 80 people is near impossible on weekdays at these times. Perhaps bring back Easy Tequatl for the morning- then let him go berserk at peak activity times. I mean- he is the sunless- so he can be weaker during the day? This way the people who are upset with the new difficulty can have easy Tequatl in the day- and in the evening, we can all try to face the challenge after dinner/work/school. Of course- I wouldn’t expect the same rewards for easy tequatl as I would hard tequatl.
I’m not sure these suggestions will help- but I felt like some constructive input may be a bit better than simply complaining he’s too hard and asking for a nerf. I like the fact that he’s harder- it’s a good challenge- even as a casual player like myself. However- challenging shouldn’t mean impossible for most of the day. Blackgate won in the evening/night during a peak activity time for people- and they’ve got a more populated (and apparently organized) server.
I share your pain Paulo. I ran into it too. v-v
I’m having an issue with this guy as well on my Lv. 71 Warrior. I can’t even revive everyone before one of the idiot NPCs attracts the boss’ attention and kills them and my warrior within two minutes. Haven’t even got rid of half of its health. I’m really disappointed- I really was looking forward to continuing the story.
