Make it once a month transfer or cost 1000 gem. A server should have its own nice community. If people keep hopping around, this game will never feel like MMO to me.

Playing with friends is such a fallacious argument. You can still talk to people across servers, can still in the same guild, can still do dungeons together. The only thing you cannot do it farming DEs. If they are such “dear” friends that you have to stick with them every minute in game, well get to the same server. I hope you don’t have to cuddle with friends once every day across multiple servers.

TA em is easy. I have farmed all 3 paths and had full armor set and weapons a week ago. The only hard part is probably the 3 knights with general fight in for/for path.

I wish some pug groups would not choose to skip contents. Sometimes, skipping resulted in more death.

I feel at this point, all explorable modes are now becoming relatively too easy. I did AC yesterday, OMG, AC em used to be hard, now it’s sooo boring.

I never liked the greatsword, is it really any good?

I notice a big difference in damage output using a GS over staff running a power/crit build. For me GS is my main source of damage while I switch to staff for defensive needs or if my GS is on cooldown and my clones are all down and I want more up fast.

I’ve tried running GS/sword but I really end up missing the whole “swap to staff, poof I’m outta here”.

My ranger is a condition/traps build, but my power/crit mesmer just blows him away when it comes to pumping out damage.

Me too. But my gear is precision/condition dmg/power/toughness and I use TA full set. Staff is all cond/toughness while gs is pre/power. I mix toughness so I don’t get one shot. Full glass cannon is not worthwhile if you die all the time.

Sometimes in dungeons, you have to use GS to clear trash mobs quickly. If you have another condition dmg class or 2 with you, it’s ineffective to use staff due to stacking issue. Condition also cannot damage structures, so you have to use direct damage, such as crystal imprisonment in CoE, unless you want your teammates to die.

You can pare staff with sw/offhand, but melee in dungeons can be dangerous. I switched to gs/staff, much smoother play and more adaptive.

In PvP, it’s a different matter.

Nerf those farming spots to ground. Mindlessly aoe spamming should not be rewarded. Plus, those spots are infested with bots.

Memser only sucks in DEs. At 80, I am harldy able to tag 1 or 2 mobs before they all instantly explode. lol. Very frustrating. Too many people spamming aoe.

I am seriously leveling up my elementalist to make money. I have been playing ele only in sPvP.

Dungeons: Just not finding them fun at all.

I have pugged half of explore mode paths. Yes, some of them can take a while to complete, but after 1st run, it became much smoother.

Also check your gear, your traits, don’t expect to survive if you have all magic finder gear and no vitality, toughness. Try to learn some boss big hit patterns!

I am amazed at how some people can be that bad, and then say the are “casual.” I am casual player too, that doesn’t mean I just walk in a dungeon with trash gear and expect to succeed.

Again, casual =/=don’t care about gear, traits, don’t learn boss behaviors, etc.

Comparing thiefs and elementalist is like day and night, even though both are supposed to be high dps classes. Ele takes so much efforts to do mediocre damage, constantly switching attunements, remember when to switch and what spells in that attunement to use, while a thief can spam and then stealth if he cannot kill.

I really don’t understand what developers were thinking!

The fact you were downed should put pets on a CD because lets be real here a pet profession will always beat a non pet profession if you both down each other

Exactly. My ele has downed so many mesmers and ended up I died from their pets. Plus they can port around and very hard to stomp.

I am not biased as I have said my main is a mesmer. But for the sake of game balance, this has to be rectified.

Dang now that you mention the elite summoning skills my idea seems terrible, it would encourage players to go down, then be resurrected by party members to avoid the long cool down timers on elite summoning abilities. In the other direction, summoning an elite skill pet would be terrible ( especially for squishy elementalist) if 1 sec after you summon them you go down and are stuck with the lengthy cooldown.

So now we are left with; either keeping them the way they are, having them go passive/invulnerable when the player is down then pop back up, or severally penalizing classes that rely on pets.

( please correct me if I am wrong about long cooldowns on elite skill summons, I dont play a proff with one, it just seemed like they would sense all other elite skills have ridic cooldowns)

Elite skills don’t have ridiculously long cooldown. I am only aware of necro and elementalist having elite summoning skills. But as an elementalist, I don’t even care if they disable my greater elemental if all classes are treated fairly. I doubt players would purposely down in order to resummon their elemental. An alive elementalist is always better.

Go dagger/dagger. I am not afraid of anybody 1v1, the worst scenario is to retreat, or “run away!” Use all protection utilities, put points in water so you are hard to be killed. Switch to water often to cleanse and heal even before you are in trouble.

Scepter has no dps but you often find yourself within 400f range anyway, which is dagger range.

Well the downed state is does not mean you killed an enemy. They should be entitled to the abilities they used just before they went down because it is basically just like swapping a different weapon except it’s a pretty lame weapon and you have no choice about it. The biggest noobs in the game are the ones that don’t help people up and complain at the people that go down. Downed state was probably only brought into the game to promote teamwork.

That’s cool, but where are my abilities when I am down as elementalist, except throwing dirt? When players are down, their dps goes down to throwing dirt, except those pet classes.

My main is mesmer, my phantasms can do more dps than me. Is it fair that when I am down, I am still doing good dps against another player while he can only throw dirt at me?

This sounds like a no brainer, and would further reward players for doing the right thing( i.e focusing on the owner not the pet). As long as pet cooldowns are reset when/if the person is rallied or resurrected it sounds fair. Not resetting the cooldowns and desummoning seems too harsh a penalty for classes that rely on their pets though.

Pet summoning has very low cooldown time, like 10-20 seconds, unlike elementalist’s elite that also dies shortly. Necro have a bit longer cooldown. But you solution works, too, doesn’t really matter much.

The huge advantage that those classes that maintain at least 50% of their dps in downstate is just so unfair to other classes, esp. when both are down. To add salt to injury, pets will just follow me even after I use mist form to run away.

This doesn't feel like PvP. This is PvNPC.

Just as a note, these are the same thing.

just as a note, they are not. Clones look like the player, have kitteny HP and don’t do much damage, illusions are pink / see through, have more HP, and can do lots of dmg.

Illusions include clones and phantasms. You were referring to phantasms when you said “illusions.” My main is a memser but hardly pvp. I have fought numerous mesmers on my ele, though.

when I said pets, I mean all illusions, minions, turrets etc. When I play elementalist, it feels so unfair that after I defeated a ranger or mesmer, I still havekittenpet to assault me.

When both me and mesmer/ranger are down, they have pets to assist them in downstate, while I am all alone throwing dirt at them, effectively they are still maintaining good dps in their downstate.

Since players’ skills are all disabled in downstate, why are pet classes’ pets still up? Pets are class mechanics. When a player is down, he usually has downstate spells, except for pet classes, their pets persist.

To be consistent, all pets should be disabled when their owners are down. For some classes such as phantasm mesmers and rangers that rely on pet damage, when they are down, their dps is still very high since their pets do most damage for them. How is consistent with the downstate mechanics?

This doesn't feel like PvP. This is PvNPC.

Issues I’ve had with pets in PvP:

- pets doing more dmg than players. too many Rangers content to sit behind their pet (which are markedly tougher than any other pets) and spamming crossfire – literally only hitting the one skill, while the pet does all the meaningful dmg. Crossfire will hit for 500ish and pet will hit for 2k – 4k. I check my combat log regularly against Rangers to see if they do anything different. They don’t. They may switch weapons, but the pet is still doing all the dog. Why aren’t they paper thin like Mesmer illusions if they’re going to be doing so much dmg?

The whole pet system just doesn’t seem well thought out.

I agree with you on ranger pet. Unlike phantasms, their pets are tough to kill and they do very good damage on my elementalist. Dog bites hurt!

Also why are those pets still up when their owners are down?? It’s so unfair for petless classes. I have downed mesmers before and I have little health left, then theirkittenillusions will kill me. In down states, their illusions keep pounding on me…

My main is mesmer but I only pvp on my elementalist alt, d/d elementalist is so much more fun and exiciting than mesmer. Relying on pets is so boring.

Just aoe them down! On my elementalist, I just set all those dumb pets on fire. A petless minion master necro is hilarious to kill.

To be honest with you, I found phantasm mesmer easier to kill than a warrior and guardian. Don’t know why people complain about mesmer. If you kill those phantasms with aoe, mesmer has no dps. If he uses 2h sword, close in and he has no dps, lol.

Developers, I hope you do not nerf any of the quests. The crying in this forum is insane. Main mesmer and alt necro never had problem or found any quests hard.

So to those who are crying, what do you do next if you get all dungeons gear as fast as possible?

I was astonished that I saw several people with full CoF exotic sets last night in Arah group. If CoF grind was not changed, people could get all the best exotic gear within 3 months. I am sure those people will then cry there are not enough contents because they have collected all gear with easy mode paths, and eventually leave.

Let those whiners whine, the rest of us just enjoy the game, with no specific short term goal in mind.

Level 80 sylvari mesmer/born of dusk/green knight/order of whisper/research hylak(frog), never had problem with personal story. I died twice.

1st is to get potion from other frogs. My npc frogs died too early and I had to fight several waves of frogs by myself and I had very low dps. This one was hard. Enemey frogs kept spawning before I could rez my frogs. So I quit this quest and returned after I leveled up more and got better gear.

2nd time is to rescue the Norn vigil NPC from those nagas. I phase retreated into poisoned water and died.

Maybe because mesmer doesn’t have aoe? I don’t throw chaos storm on mobs that are fighting NPCs to aggro them. Let NPCs tank them for you while you kill them. NPCs are not meant to deal damage but to distract enemies.

I don’t know why some people are complaining. They are so easy to me as a low dps clothies mesmer. Maybe I can fool mobs with my clones? But then clones die within 1 hit. Oh I did use slyvari elite skill turret seeds to distract mobs. Turrest are very very good at lower level, lol.

My opinion of combat - Incredible bias against melee!

I am a mesmer wearing cloth and I melee/range half and half, depending on my health bar. I once dueled a champion mob with a guardian, and the guardian kept dying while I had to keep rezzing him, even though we were both meleeing. I was just puzzled…

Are some of you guys just auto attacking with no utility skills? Like I saw some warriors with 5 signets.

IMHO, cloths wearers have better dps in melee range, but can only wear cloths, why? This is clearly bias against melee casters.
