What are you system specs? It could easily be hardware related. Also, have you tried resetting your router/modem and network card? They build trash over time and could have some file in cache causing issues.
I don’t think that the modem/router is the problem. My boyfriend uses the same one, and he didn’t have any problems. oO
I have been playing GW2 yesterday just fine, so i have no idea why i get lags and disconnects all of a sudden. My specs:
Intel® Core™ i5-4690 CPU @ 3.50GHz
GeForce GTX 750 Ti
8.0 GB of RAM
Microsoft Windows 10 , 64-bit
Tried playing again, after 3 hours. Got kicked off the server after 5 minutes. :/
The living story is unplayable for me. The first time i tried , the game seemed normal. Then i got kicked off the server, into the character screen. Logged in the character again, strated the story again, got kicked off after a few minutes. Tried for a 3rd time. Now there is a huge lag problem, that seems to occure randomly. Have to wait over 5 seconds for a skill to activate. Mobs teleporting. Simply put, unplayable. :/
It’s not the internet, as my boyfriend can play just fine.
EDIT: Tried a 4th time, after waiting 10 minutes. Kicked off the server again.

I really love your mesmers eyes. Very captivating.
New Player, Sad Player. Expansion ruined it.

Leveling a character to 80 and through the entire Personal Story should teach you all you need to know. If it isn’t, that is Anet’s fault.
Also, where did Anet state that HoT was supposed to be for those who were better players? I don’t remember seeing that at all.
That’s the same as saying :
You go to school for X amount of years. If you are not a genius by the end of it, it’s the schools fault.
The game can show you and teach you a lot of things. But it can’t THINK for you. Mastering a character is a lot more than knowing about the basics(skills, traits, equipment). It needs tactical thinking, experience and the will to adapt to certain situations.
That being said, i could solo all the personal story content, be it core game or expansion.
I find it funny, cuz i had a friend try out GW2 and she complained that she can’t one-shot mobs that were 4-5 level weaker than herself. She told me over and over again: But i can do that in WOW! So i don’t think that WOW’s difficulty level is much higher. o_O (Said friend died a lot as well xD )
But yeah, you won’t find hardcore content here while leveling up. Mmo’s in general might be a bit too easy for you.
Thank you very much for listening. The issue i had was ‘’feeling left out’‘.I didn’t want to spend more money on a character slot so i could play the new class i already payed for.
That was my only issue.
The specializations, new class, pvp, the new wvw map,the skill system and trait revamp (even if we get it for free you guys worked a lot on it),the guild halls and mastery systems are worth the 45€ in my eyes.Me and my boyfriend will be pre-purchasing for sure.

Before the update, 70-80% of the daily achievements were PvE.Now that every category (PvE,WvW and PvP) has the same amount of achievements to complete i see a LOT of PvE people crying.
Before the change PVP and WvW players had 2(or 3) achievements each, meaning they had to do 3(or 2) PVE achievements to complete their daily.I don’t see other people crying, even tho 2 of the PvP achievements are class specific. So if they don’t even own those two classes they can go into PvE and finish their daily there.
Just by taking a look at todays PvP achievements ,it is clear to me that anyone can complete at least 2 of them. You get 50 rank points even if you lose a match, and anyone should be able to capture a point.
Refusing to try out new things,or not wanting to step outside your comfort zone does NOT mean that you have no choices.
People who PvP or WvW learned to adjust a long time ago.If they wanted to finish their daily, they had to do some PvE achievements as well.
It’s called ‘’Daily achievement’’ after all and not ‘’Daily run around the game and get free presents for everything you do ’’.
And what a lot of people seem to have missed is that the Daily has gotten ’’optional’’.You won’t lose out on Laurels or Myst. Coins if you don’t complete it.Just some exp and the 10 achievement points.

This is awful!!! Get the old system back! Naow! -.-
I like what i’ve read so far, but i’ll have to try it when it goes live to see if it’s good enough.
Charging gems for story content is a terrible idea though. That’s akin to a monthly subscription, but at least in a subscription mmo, you get all the content, instead of having it in piecemeal chunks. Just terrible.
You do realise that the story content is free……only if you missed out on an episode now you have the option to buy it.
Really, you only have to log in once every 2 weeks to get all the stories unlocked for free.
GW2 has no sub,has no expansion you must buy, and you don’t have to buy the LS Episodes either (even if u miss out on some of them its not a must to complete them only if you want to)…so what is ooooh soooooo terrible?
I’m thinking long-term here.
Hypothetical: In 6 months, or a year, someone buys gw2. They finish their personal story, which comes free with the game. Then Season 2 ends. Season 3 starts, but the new player missed out on Season 2.
Does this mean they have pay for each update to Season 2 to catch up to Season 3? Season 1 had around 20 story updates added to it.
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/the-game/releases/
Flame & Frost, Secret of Southsun, Sky Pirates of Tyria, Bazaar of the Four Winds, Blood & Madness, etc. That’s 20 × 200, which equals 4000 gems.
That’s very unreasonable for a new player just starting out.
I’m just trying to get clarification here, because we don’t know all the details yet.
We don’t know yet if there will be a bundle sold for every season ,if so it will most likely have a price that will encourage ppl to buy it.
We can’t know if Season 1 will ever be included in this journal. As the devs said they hope they can implement it in the future.
Others have already stated that when a new player buys the game,he will first engage in questing, leveling, events and so on.They won’t be concentrating on things that were released 1 year ago or so.
And no,if you missed out on season 1 and 2 and season 3 is starting, you don’t have to buy the other 2 seasons to be able to participate in season 3.You will get season 3 for free.
I like what i’ve read so far, but i’ll have to try it when it goes live to see if it’s good enough.

Forgive me if this has been already answered but I am sort of in a confused/panic state regarding this new content release. I understand the fact we must log in during the first 2 weeks of its release to get it free; however, it is mentioned that otherwise, you would have to “pay” for season 1 or something.
My question is if a friend of mine was to join like later in this year on December, would he/she have to pay a fee just to enjoy the original personal storyline or is it just the new content coming July have to be paid for?
It’s just the new content that comes in July, and not even all of it,as it has been mentioned that there will be changes in Tyria that will be permanent ( like adding a new map for example). These things,as i understood, won’t be affected by the journal, but will be added during LS S2.
So your friend doesn’t have to buy the LS episodes that come out in July,he can just ignore them.He can look it up on the wiki or youtube if he wants to.
If he likes it very much and wants to play it or wants the rewards then he will have to pay 5$ for 1 months worth of content.
It is optional, there will be noone forcing him to buy it.
Well it has been a while. I just finished a comission. yay
A kind soul actually mailed me ingame and ordered a comission! -
Took me a lot of time to finish this.Losing the file with the layers didn’t help ugh.
I am still working on the sylvari drawing,it just got pushed back cuz of the comission.
So here is the finished comission of Goviper’s ranger.Hope you like it! If you want something changed just pm me with the details.
GW2 is NOT a grindy game.
Yes to you it isn’t.
There are actually quite a bit of people think GW2 is one of the most grindy game ever. That’s just people’s opinion.
If GW2 take away the 1% optional grind, everyone will agree it’s not grindy, but apparently it’s there.
Yes,you are right, that’s my opinion.I played many games in the past which were extremely grindy (most free to play games are).
But i think if you take that 1% away (legendaries, ascended gear) people will complain that there is nothing to work towards, or that they have no goals at all.
GW2 is NOT a grindy game.
Just for an example, i played PWI.That game has 105 levels and you needed almost a year (normal play) to get you’r character to that level…1 character.Or you could grind the same dungeon all day long for xp.That would take you to 105 in 5-6 months.
After reaching level 100-105,you would need gear!
But why farm for it when all the dungeon gear (that takes 2-3 months to farm) is worthless in comparison to the CASH SHOP GEAR you can buy straight from the item mall for 1.5k $ …….but wait…we still need shards and the gear has to be + 12 or at least + 10……..these things cost another thousand dollars (so you have to pay 2.5k $ for endgame gear)…..OR if you don’t want to buy all this stuff you could still farm a dungeon and sell the materials for ingame gold which could be converted into item mall currency.
You would be farming the same dungeons over and over and over again for 1 year+ just to be on par with the cash shoppers, otherwise you would get killed by 1-2 skills without even bein able to scratch their armor.
That is grind.Grind for levels, for armor, for anything you need to have in order to compete with others.
GW2 never felt like a grind to me. Just by leveling and reaching 80,i get enough gold to buy a whole set of exotics, runes and everything else that is needed.
If you want a legendary or cosmetics you have to put in more work. That’s how it is.Those things are optional, and it’s your choice to get them or not.

’twould be my pleasure.
If she is to your liking, I have Minaus Eilus to offer:
Armor Ref
Face Ref
Glow Pattern
Started working on Minaus just now.Got the rough sketch ready.
Lucky me i have time for drawing now as i feel horrible at the moment xD Everyone seems to be catching a cold lately..me included.
The skin texture and colors will be added later.
If we will be able to use every (even seasonal) costume in combat,i will buy every Halloween costume this year and the other costumes/ town clothing (tonics) that might appear.
Out of the interests of curiosity, what is your inclination towards Sylvari (or similarly designed characters)? Methinks that might make for an adequate challenge beyond what human designs offer, for sake of the less typical skin patterns and textures.
I actually love sylvari, and yes it would be a challenge drawing one xD
If you have one you can post some screenies of him/her if you would like to.
I will see what i can do
Thank you everyone for the nice comments.I really want to draw a lot of GW2 related art so i will try and be more active from now on.
I just started a drawing of my level 2 newb Elementalist. She is known as AneiraThe Icewitch across Tyria.Just concentrating on forms and shadows atm,not gonna complicate it with colors for the time being.
I also was thinking about accepting 1-2 requests for black and white portraits in a bit, maybe next week.Would like a challenge.
They announced a wardrobe..okay..everyone believed that it will be like the PvP locker where u can switch your clothes to your hearts content.
But nope it’s the same renting system we had before.
I know, that I won’t buy any charges in the future…why? Because it leaves a bitter taste in my mouth to spend charges every time i want to change the skin on my armor. I would rather spend 5 charges on 1 skin and unlock it for free use later on. I would buy gems and stuff this companies pockets with money if they would allow me to change my skins any time i want..even in the middle of a dungeon run without paying for it every time.
I can only talk for myself (and for my boyfriend lol) but i would spend a lot more charges (like 5-6 charges for a skin) to unlock the 800-900 skins that i like. I don’t want the skins for free so i can use them for free,i am willing to pay for them when i unlock them.
I have played many games and just to give you an example : I played PWI for a few years. This game has a lot of fashion to offer,a set is being sold for around 20-25 $.
I bought fashion in worth of over 400- 500 $ on my characters…why? Because i love fashion i switched my fashion every hour……..or in the middle of a dungeon run…
Now, my behaviour changed in GW2…….i look for a combination of skins i like…transmute it ONCE on my character and thats it!
My boyfriend runs around with 3 sets of the same armor in his inventory, all of them have a different skin.He switches between them every few hours.
The point is, that people won’t buy more crystals or charges than they did before the patch.
This system isn’t as flexible and doesn’t encourage people to collect many skins, cuz they will never use 90% of those skins. They will have 1 set they really like and then sit on it.
So instead of spending 4.000- 4.500 charges in the future i will just use around 50.And i know i am not the only one who thinks like this.
I will rather buy some more inventory space and carry 2-3 sets of armor at a time with different skins so i can change my looks at will. Its cheaper than paying for crystals every time you would like to change your looks.
(edited by Nimarrna.5924)
I don’t like this ‘’pay every time you want to use a skin’’ type of system.I would rather pay once for a skin and then use it as many times as i like for FREE. Cuz…that’s what a WARDROBE is about isnt it ? I don’t pay a fee to use my clothes in real life either….
°Well my characters will have to bath fully clothed (in the river at best) as their owner won’t be able to get them a change of clothes every day……………………°

If you like drawing, you shouldn’t stop.
Everyone has to start somewhere. You could watch some helpful guides on youtube or take a look at deviantart. There are a lot of tutorials which will help you get better. And i’m sure people are fed up with it and everyone heard it many times already, but practice will get you to that ‘’awesome level’’ .
Also you already have a pretty good understanding of the facial structure, maybe a color guide would help you with the contrast and shadows.
And as proof that everyone has to start somewhere i attached a drawing i made when i was 14. xDD I loved drawing back then and i have at least 150 drawings of this…quality level. lol
Hello! And welcome to my thread!
This threads purpose is pretty simple: motivation.
I have been drolling over all the fanart people kept posting on these forums for the past 6 months. I enjoy looking at stuff others made and i’ve been daydreaming of the stuff i could create of my characters (as i pretty much love them to death and each of them has a story and background planned out).
The only problem is…that i am pretty lazy and had an art block for the past 4 months, which means i didn’t even touch a pencil in those months.
I have no idea why,but (thanx to the heavens) i got inspired to draw again and did a quick rough sketch of my asura engi today. yay
And i really hope that i can finish the drawings i started 4-5 months ago (and didn’t finish yet).
Thats why i started this thread, so i won’t ‘’give up on drawing again’’. If i get enough practice i might even start taking comissions in the future; thats one of the goals i will work towards. c :
I will post some of the drawings now, feel free to comment. It would make me happy (critique is allways welcome!).
Meet Ai, my little engi who loves explosions; Daetari, my necro, who has been studying the dark arts in hopes of bringing back the ones she loves…one way or another… and Mesremone,my mesmer, who’s true love is and will allways be…gold.
Hopefully i will finish these drawings in the near future.
:)
Well, a thief won’t have many sleepless nights because of this trait as their weapon skills are all immune to it .-. ……..yay?
I didn’t have a sylvari before as i found most of the faces and hairstyles boring after some time…it felt like i wanted something more unique.I really loved the race and WANTED a sylvari badly but could not decide for a look that would satisfy me for a longer time.
After i saw the news, i got a Total makeover kit to try out the new faces. And i fell in love with the new sylvari faces ,especially the one without the nose aaand the one with the ‘’dark eyes’‘(its nr. 3 out of the 3new faces).
I’m not really wealthy ingame so i could only get one Kit. I will make a necro in the near future…hopefully with the other face (3rd one). x3
Ok i think that was enough for now. What i wanted to say is that i love the new faces.
Here are some pics that made me fall in love with my little sylvari guardian Cerenty even more. :P
Also don’t know if my eyes were just playing tricks on me but i could swear that there is a minimal ‘’height difference or difference in depth’’ between the nose and the rest of the face. (Talking about the female face without a nose.) o-o
