Skimpy armor for male characters

I have to agree with the OP. Skimpy armor on Females gets old fast. I am a male player, and straight, but I see a trend in video games these days that sexualize the females and keep the guys in full armor. How does the girl players expect their armor to keep them protected from bandit arrow and swords? I never understood it. Here she is with very little covered up and she gets full protection from that? Serious logical fail here.

The only thing you need to worry about with servers (at least in my opinion) is population. If you want a highly populated server then have a look at the server list. Or lower pop respectively.

Race makes no difference, they are all the same stat wise. It keeps the players on an even keel for various activities. I like it that way myself.

I would suggest getting the expac if you can afford the $30US for it. It adds the new class plus at bunch of other tidbits of goodness. I am recently back from 5 years off also and went right for it. I am having a blast, lots has changed in the game. I play mostly melee classes though so I can’t help you with your style of play (as it seems you like ranged characters).

And after all of that I say ta-ta for now, I hope you enjoy the game as much as I do.

I too have come back after a long hiatus. There are a few things different, but it seems all of the core stuff is still there, just a bit different in getting to it. I haven’t found the need to buy anything from the gem store yet, except for the living world content. It isn’t like a typical F2P game where the best character equipment costs real money. I have a level 19 warrior now and I have been enjoying him quite a bit. I immediately bought HoT and later preordered PoF. If you ask me, GW2 has only improved over time, it did not stagnate like some other games do.

Will the New Expansion Bring a Decent UI?

If someone says the GW2 UI is ugly and clunky clearly hasn’t tried Eve Online’s UI. Talk about complicated with a steep learning curve.

Yeah, I plan to hang onto the level 80 boost, at least with my current main which I started last night. Human warrior, because I have trouble with ranged characters in most RPGs. Thanks for all the advice folks.

One thing I did notice is that it seems easier to gain experience and level up a character. I don’t know if that is because the starter area is less populated, or if there was some sort of QoL change done by Anet. I hope I don’t get overwhelmed later on when I make it towards the end game. I will enjoy the journey though, you can bet on that.

Thanks everyone. I appreciate the advice.

Yeah, the level 80 boost seemed a bit too tempting to me but I also enjoy the journey, so it will just have to sit.

Ok, the Wiki will come in handy. I will look through it if I can drag myself from the game long enough, hehe.

Hello everyone,

As the title says, I have been away for about 4 years. I have forgotten just about everything about Guild Wars 2, so it is all new to me again. Trouble is that what I do remember seems to have been changed a bit. I figure GW2 has gone through many changes in 4 years and I definitely need a refresher. I seem to be having more fun this time than I did before I quit the game for awhile. Now my only frustration was downloading the game and that is over so no more frustration.

Hmm, I guess what I am asking is how many changes have been made? I purchased HoT already so I have that level 80 boost… is it worth it to use that token? I feel as if I want to experience the journey to 80, so perhaps I will just let it sit in my inventory.

I have been away so long, I regret that a little. I don’t remember seasons and episodes being a part of the game when I last played, and I don’t remember masteries.

Well, that is all I can think of at this point. I hope you all have GG time in GW2. I would appreciate any kind of advice or critic.

Yeah, check it out. Make sure to check at the video card connection, as a HDMI to DVI adapter will also say HDMI output.

I know what you mean about the monitor drivers, some don’t have any. Most big name brands will though. It is worth looking into actually.

I hope you can get it fixed for her. I know the frustration of not being able to play a game that I so enjoy.

You could also try getting the Monitor drivers (not video drivers). I noticed your DXDIAG says you have it set to generic PnP. Sometimes that can mess with your display as the Generic driver in Windows 7 may not be totally compatible with the Monitors potential.

Just a thought really, don’t know if it will help. It’s the first thing that came to my mind and by doing that you don’t have anything to lose.

EDIT: I also just now noticed that your monitor is connected with DVI and hers is HDMI (HD15 on the listing). Try swapping those out too, see if DVI works better for her.

What's the gender breakdown for your characters?

I have one male Human and a female Human and Norn. I don’t like male Norns much, they seem out of proportion.

I also like the Human starting area best so my next character will be a male Human.

Toughness

I dont know the answer, but I just came here looking for the same thing. I found a staff with like 31 Toughness on it and it was like night and day the survivability it added to my Ele. Looking forward to answers. I like you had been going vitality just because I could SEE what it was doing (+health)

That’s interesting actually. I may only be a level 10 Guardian but I have been going all vitality when I had the choice and just ignoring toughness. I will rethink my strategy a bit based on what you have said here, perhaps I will take much less damage which would be good (not that I take much now).
