No one is going to take you seriously if you continue to be rude. Insulting people because you take a different viewpoint isn’t convincing, either.
Your idea is terrible and you should feel terrible.
If I am responded to rudely, I respond rudely.
Why stop there!
Why not reward you with all lvl 80s for all your future alts when you get your first one?
Why not reward you all legendaries when you get you first one?
How about give you a full set of exotic gear for all alts?
Dungeon completion?I suppose that will make you play the game more!
Really? REALLY? I’m not asking for anything for free. I’m asking to reap the benefits of what I have ALREADY earned. Why does my new character get to don the title Dungeon Master without ever running a dungeon. Because I already earned that.. and in the same way I have already earned the freedom of traveling to any point in the world I choose and I feel my alts should not have to repeat that daunting task again.
I guess it’s a matter of where you draw the line on what is progression. I would never dream of giving free exotics to my new alts because I have already earned those.. so I guess I could see what you are saying.
Bottom line, I just don’t want to repeat BORING AS HELL CONTENT.
I’m really surprised at how many people enjoy repeating vistas and poi’s … oh well, thanks for reading
You can’t force love, Nooka. It either happens or it doesn’t.
Very true : \
In my grand vision, you would still have to do hearts just not POI, vista and way points. You would lose the exp for those of course, but I figure if you already have an 80 with 100% completion you probably already realize how unimportant exp is really.
I have two big pet peeves in GW2 as it relates to alts. So I’ve just come back after a long break with DayZ and decide to start a new alt (after getting the bad-kitten wings for my main). Instantly I remember why I didn’t have more alts.
Zone completions!
Currently we have to start from scratch in each zone. Hearts, way points, POI’s, vistas. I suggest everything but the hearts be completed for all my new alts (or better yet make this optional in the menu for those that actually might enjoy repeating). I don’t mind completing the quests and enjoy the dynamic events in the zones.. but I absolutely hate having to chase down POI’s and Vistas AGAIN. I leveled a Mesmer first getting 100% completion. I then leveled a Ranger almost purely via crafting. So now he’s 80 and anytime I want to use him to run with the guild, I often can’t because he’s simply too far away to participate. This is extremely frustrating.
Crafting!
As mentioned above, my Ranger got nearly all crafts to max (I think my Mesmer did 2 of them). Now, my new alts have no reason to craft as I already have maxed out all crafting disciplines. What I would suggest is that any crafting that I have completed on one character should be available to all of my characters. Much in the same way our characters share achievements and a bank.. I want to be able to put my hard work to use on my other characters.
In conclusion, these changes if done right (additional options in the settings perhaps) would make for a much more enjoyable leveling experience for our 2nd, 3rd (etc..) times around. I feel the original challenge of world completion and Master Crafter achievements should be account bound in that all characters on our account should benefit.
I realize zone completions aren’t a requirement of course but I want those rewards for completing the heart quests, not for repeating mind numbing tasks like watching Youtube videos to figure out how to get back up to that vista or searching websites trying to find that last POI. That still leaves plenty of content via questing, story, dungeons, WvW, etc.
Thanks for reading,
Desperately trying to love GW2
Looking for a server that is currently uncontested. Because.. ya know, it’s always contested.
Anet is getting greedy.
I tend to agree.. less enthusiastically perhaps.
For now, the Halloween event has set the standard for which I will judge all events until one tops it. So if Halloween was an A+, I would give Wintersday a B-. The weapon skins are very Christmas-y indeed.. but, that doesn’t keep them from being nothing I would ever want to equip. Why not some Icy weapons… I think that could of fit the bill as well as working for the seasonal event. I was so ready to shell over some money.
I thought the jumping puzzle was a home run. I completed the Halloween jumping puzzle so yes I will definitely say this was far easier, but I feel like a hellish challenge fits the Halloween atmosphere better. And this little sweet JP was more fitting for Christmas.
The mini-games were pretty cool actually. Guitar-hero-esque game was a challenge since I have rebound many of my hotkeys but I still got all the achievements. The little pvp game was very good I thought. And the big event, well the ending was pretty bad.. One of the few that I think I just won’t bother getting the achievement because it just wasn’t any fun at all really, for me.
I skipped the Karka event entirely, so I’m bitter about missing out on the 20 slot bag. But otherwise I think I made a good decision there lol.
I dunno what else to say. I’m satisfied with everything so far. What’s amazing to me is when you look at a company like Blizz for comparison, that is charging you monthly for their game and they never change the seasonal events. Same thing every year for 8 years.. really??!? Seems so lazy considering how much they make from that game.
Sweet, thanks for the tips. And I will add you, I’m only fractal level 3 atm though
So, I’ve decided I want to work on a legendary. How are people Karma farming these days? I know cursed shores was the place to do this at one point, but now it seems to be pretty empty. Is there a good way to farm karma anymore?
Please add a way to swap out skills. When running dungeons especially I’ve got several skills that I want for certain bosses, then I also have a kind of ‘all purpose’ set of skills I like to use for general questing, and then again another set for WvW and another for SPvP.
It’s really not hard to swap out skills, I do realize this, but I think this would be a nice addition none the less. It would be pretty nice If I could easily select these pre-build’s while running around without having to look through all available skills.
Please add a mini-pet slot to the hero page. I don’t like the invisible bags and I don’t want pets taking up inventory space. This way they could always activate when entering a dungeon/zone etc.
Yes please add this ASAP. I would really love to see some of the weapon skins. I think it can be done through a pvp vendor, but that’s silly. Just let me preview from the TP.
I guess we can agree to disagree. I posted this suggestion because for me, it’s too punishing rolling additional alts. And I feel like the game lacks replay-ability.
The people I’ve spoken with in my guild and a real life friend I play with were agreeing with me 100% so it feels like a valid suggestion. Also every map except Lion’s Arch and WvW is pretty empty so seems like others feel similarly.
Maybe there could be some options with this for players that would prefer everything to be exactly as the first time around. I wonder.. do you even send gold/bags to your new alts or is that off limits too?
For as much as this game has to offer, it definitely missed in several ways. This game lacks in creating emotional situations. No world PvP means no sense of danger, fear. Sure there’s WvW but that just feels like a great big SPvP match.. it doesn’t have much meaning. I remember getting ganked in STV back in WoW and seeing that the guy who killed me then yelled something in a different language.. how cool was that. I’m left dead and then wondering what this guy said.. getting more and more angry and vengeful because I’m sure he’s not just killing me, but also talking crap!
For me, the game is way too instanced. Here you have these big beautiful cities (without any real reason to visit them) but I can’t just walk into them.. I have to watch a loading screen. It’s very immersion breaking. Why would I need an Asura gate to get from Queensdale to Divinity’s reach?? That doesn’t even make since.
There are cool legendary weapons to be had, but even if you do have the patience and wallet to acquire one it’s not enough. Why aren’t we (at this stage in MMO history) building homes in the persistent (if you can call it that) part of the world and no mounts.. really? That’s just lazy! What am I working toward? I’m glad there is no endless gear grind, but that doesn’t mean I don’t need anything to chase. Why can’t my guild build a giant guild hall/castle that we can show off to the world?
Crafting in gw2 had some neat changes with the discovery system. But ultimately, has the same flaws as previous games. The stuff I make is still less worth then the materials needed to make it. I maxed all the professions and have nothing really to show for it.
There’s a lot of things I love about gw2, and for now I’m hopeful for the future. I’m going to give it some time. The Halloween event was epic. I just feel GW2 could be so much more.
I disagree. It would make leveling harder on alts and force you to complete every zone on the world map to get to lvl 80, or force you to do dungeons or crafting (which not everyone enjoys or can afford).
I actually enjoy exploring the entire zones all over again since I always end up stumbling upon something I haven’t seen before. The vistas and skillpoints make you go out of the way and stumble upon events you may not have seen otherwise.
If they were to change this people would go from heart to heart and then complain they had nothing to do or that the leveling curve is off. Many people already have enough issues with the current leveling curve, feeling they have to visit other races’ starting zones etc. so changing this would only make things worse.
How do you mean it would make leveling harder? Because you wouldn’t be getting as much experience because you aren’t doing every vista? Well, that could be remedied by more XP given for zone completions. My complaint isn’t about leveling being too easy or too difficult, my complaint is that I don’t enjoy repeating all the tedious steps of finding every vista and figuring out how to get to it.
It’s fortunate that you enjoy repeating vistas and POI’s. But I’m pretty sure I’m not alone in despising having to repeat this content and not being able to get around a map I’ve already explored. It quite simply makes rolling alts punishing.
Yes, hearts and skill points only (for map completion) after the 1st time around would really increase the replay value of this game for me.
It is my opinion that map completion should be cumulative across all the characters on an account. Furthermore, zone completions should be easier on the 2nd, 3rd, etc, times through. Perhaps having only to complete all the heart’s and POI’s to get the map completion. Any waypoints I have unlocked should already be available for my new characters.
Having cleared most of the map on my main, it’s very disheartening for my alt’s to have no waypoints available. I have 2 80’s and am at level 70 on my 3rd character and chose to level this guy primarily by finishing all the crafting skills I have not yet made to 400. Well, now I’m done with that and I’m at 70 and this character only has 15% map completion.
Agreed, well played sirs.
A lot of people think the BL chests are a little boring. So I thought some RL items would be cool!
-GW2 T-Shirts
-Rytlock statue
-Dev signed posters
etc.. etc..
etc.. etc..Just a thought
Mardi Gras would be awesome
Hmm.. I wish they would upgrade some of the UI. I like a lot of it, but I dunno, I think they could learn a lot from Blizzard
I just got the Master Carver title, but nothing shows up over my character. So I started looking around LA and don’t see anyone with a title?
You don’t have to wait for act 4, I have 4/4 now. I did notice I had to restart client before I got credit for the 4th. Which for me was the Reaper Rumble I assume.
I started as Asura, switched to Charr and found it much easier. Norn may of been even a little easier still.
If you can, try doing it around 6am est, I was sometimes running with only 1 other person which helped dramatically. Of course I work 3rd shift, so probably not for most.
Also, I consider myself pretty good at these puzzles and it took me around 100 attempts. I would do it for an hour, then quit and try again later.
Eat 150 candy corns: 25 points
Finish the clocktower that your dev says only 5% will complete: 10 points
I want more meaningless points kitten
/bump This makes such a huge difference, I have windows 7 on my laptop where it works like a charm..
especially trying to do the clock tower
Is there any way to make the FOV change with Windows 8? When I change the target as described in the stickied thread, I get an error message.
Did you work 3rd shift last night, and have to again tonight.. yet woke up early for this ‘must see event’? I did, and I regret it already.
Yes, people complain too much. But seriously, imagine if this was a great inconvenience to you, and you came anyway because of the hype. It’s pretty frustrating to be honest. Tell me why this cut scene couldn’t have been activated when trying to access the dungeon the first time?
I like the idea of a live event, but there was no reason for this. I was expecting something along the lines of a huge dynamic quest in LA. I can’t help but to think something like that was planned and then scrapped at the last second and this was the back up plan.
/disappointed and sleepy
First and foremost, thanks for the event. In the future, please don’t do that again.

Can’t get this to work in Windows 8. Anyone else have this problem?
How do you not realize that
A) The main Halloween quest is broken
B) The token you mailed out this patch has no vendor that accepts said token
Not entirely sure.. but when I use the Candy-Powered Matter Meter next to Magister Tassi, I never see Serene spawn. I’ve tried on multiple characters and I’ve waited various times after using ‘scan etheric field’.
I have seen the option to inspect suspicious location a couple of times, but i’m not sure thats related and inspecting didn’t seem to do anything. From what I understand, I’m supposed to see a ghost named Serent who gives me a book or clue that lets me progress.
Any help would be appreciated.
good place to post this.
If you have to ask then it’s probably a bad idea.

Agreed. Map completions really take away from this game for me. I would think completing all the hearts should of been enough for map completion. The thought of doing all the vistas again and poi’s really discourage me from playing alts.
Not everyone wants to be an explorer, and even I who somewhat feels like I enjoy exploring don’t want to do that again. Kinda the downside of making 80% of the vistas a jumping puzzle of sorts.
Also, map completion should be cumulative among your various characters as well as dye’s imo.
Brilliant making story quests that last so long and losing all progress when being d/c by the client for what is inevitably ANOTHER bug.
80 Asura Mesmer – same as above except I never got to last boss before disconnect.
Enjoying the game greatly 2 80’s and stopping there for now to focus on my 80 Mesmer.
Some good:
-mesmer
-armor sets
-enjoy the dungeons
-event farming is kinda fun
-dragon encounters are fun if not a little too easy
-love the world, art etc..
Some bad:
-there are times i feel there isn’t much to do
-finding groups for specific dungeons can be quite challenging for a game so young (lfmTA EM!!)
-some parts of the game feels hard for the sake of being hard, i think challenging content is great but things feel wonky.. i.e. dungeon bosses easier then trash, any mob in the game that knocks you down then beats you until dead without a chance to get up… (the skelks in AC)
-what ever happened to a persistent world? All the loading screens really take away from immersion
-mounts/flightpaths > waypoints.. I would love to have some mounts to farm right about now!
-this game needs more tools, lfg mostly, also a way to know where events are going down like dragon timers or maybe just the ability to see all the events happening on the map… Warhammer and more recently Rift did this pretty well
-the world doesn’t feel dynamic
-map completion: I really feel like the completion rewards are nice but I definitely feel vista’s take away from this. For me, a recovering altoholic, I don’t want to go back and get get map completions on alts.. yet I feel I have to because the rewards for completing the zones are too good to skip so it creates a weird feeling where I just don’t want to play alts.
All this said, I’m not trying to say I don’t enjoy the game.. there’s much left for me to do and see. I just think some design decisions are taking away from how epic Tyria could be and it feels like about half the population disappeared at almost exactly one month after release : (
