0/2/0/6/6 with knight’s cavalier’s and soldier’s equipment + some fire/ogre/scholar/strenght/hoelbrak runes. You’ll be tanky as hell, do lots of damage (less than a full glass cannon, of course, but still.) and cause havoc.
Any good alternatives for runes of Hoelbrak for those who don’t have money?

My elementalist is almost level 80, and I LOVE playing it.
The thing is that I need to decide upon a build.. But I want to be able to play at least Staff s/d and d/d with the same armour/rune set, in PVE and WvW.
Do you have any suggestion? Should I take Assassin+Scholar or Berserker+Strenght?

+1 for hidden shoulderpads… They’re HUGE.

Do hobosacks show up if an outfit is equipped? (winter fancy outfit.. mad king outfit..)
I felt the same way up until a few nights ago…
I went into WvW with my newly acquired Mad King costume and had a ball.
My idea was to set up staff clones and stand behind them. I hoped my opponent would pick me out and rush through the clones (getting chewed up) and get to me half baked.I don’t know if it worked 100%. I killed plenty in small scale fights but then some friends in TS suggested perhaps it’s that they are trying to find me and don’t expect me in the Mad King outfit (they are looking for someone who looks like clones?).
Anyhow it was a GREAT WvW night and I now do it whenever I WvW.
One side note though, forgot to turn it off in sPvP and it doesn’t work there LOL!
Let’s begin seeing it as a buff to the Mesmer class.. ANet will probably insta-hotfix it.
Jokes aside, it could really make a good strategy in WvW, as the enemies will probably try to look for another mesmer, too ahah!
Exactly. This bug is game-breaking if you have a suit(like I do). And it shouldn’t be SO hard to fix… can ANet please hotfix this?
Add 25% Passive Swiftness to Decoy. 25% Swiftness stops when Decoy is used.
-You have to choose to blow your Decoy for swiftness or not.
-Mesmers already have a lot of movement in combat so using Decoy would ensure that they don’t always have increased speed in combat.
-Speed is really needed in WvW/PvP more than PvE. Dungeons don’t really require speed. You can still use Travelers runes or Focus if needed.
-Adding Swiftness to Signet of Inspiration makes that signet mandatory for WvW when it is only useful with certain builds. I bet Decoy is used more often than SoI is.I can’t think of a better ability to tie 25% swiftness to other than Decoy.
This. Or actually Blink would be a better choice, just to avoid making it too strong.(runspeed+blink too stronk)
Good thing they insta-fixed a bug which gave us 800-1000 bonus damage on phantasms, but they can’t fix iWarden and some of the bugs that make the Mesmer pretty useless if not for its’ utility.
Oh well, it was fun while it lasted. Time to join the Thief bandwagon.

we use to have a 12 second RTL that was pretty cool.

I don’t think they made any new ele builds viable in SPVP. Guardians also did not gain a viable build, overall, this patch added a bunch of new PVE builds but almost no PVP ones for most classes(probably almost all?).
What pve builds did they add? Everything outside lightning hammer ele is bad for PvE, so please take your spvp martyr complex somewhere else.
Might stacking build for example?
Interesting diversity, I’ll make sure to give all of these a shot. More input is welcome as well as what utility skills everyone is running.
I’m quite interested in the idea of the might stacking builds, if they’re viable at all.
Might stacking is probably the fotm for elementalist, but is really hard to use in sPvP.
As utilities the only “necessary” one is Arcane Wave (blast finisher). Another really useful one is Signet of Earth like I stated on the previews post.
30 points in arcana is almost a must have for dmg ele. What do you say about that?
Apart from that, i really dont see grounded trait working. All bosses have defiant stack up once you kd/stun/etc, so the trait is pretty much a waste on bosses, on the other hand, great for trash/veterans.I also dont see any stun breakers in the build. Its not that critical as in pvp, but in dugeons you need at least 1 stun breaker.

I am testing a S/D might-stacking spvp build right now. (30/20/0/0/20)
Fire- 6 / 7 / 11
Air- 2 / 7
Arcane- 1 / 5
I get 20 air 20 arcane instead of getting 30 air and 10 arcane because the boon duration and attunement cd reduction on arcane trait line.
It is a bit hard to play in spvp, since you rely a lot on Signet of Earth (for the unmovable condition) and Air 5 (same reason).
I see it as a PvE build in the end, but that’s what I’m trying right now.
That’s correct since it should be a Projectile Finisher, not a Blast Finisher.
If only they fixed that fast ALL our bugs..
Arcane Blast has always been a projectile Finisher. Despite the name. I know its a little confusing. Should have probably been called Arcane bolt in stead of Arcane Blast.
It was a hidden blast finisher 30 minutes ago.
Before the hotfix Arcane Blast was a physical projectile, and when it landed (on the mob) it created a Combo Finisher : Blast effect. After this hotfix it apparently doesn’t so anymore.
