Guild Wars 2

I feel I must stress the word casual. With a part time job, school, and other things going on in my life, I simply don’t have enough time to be on GW2 every day.

I am especially interested in an RP guild, but even just a casual guild to chat with and do events is fine.

Thanks for the swift replies. I wasn’t aware the game had a mega server, but this definitely changes things. It sounds like I won’t be transferring world’s at all.

I might participate in WvW sometime, but RP is definitely higher on the list.

It’s been a long time since I’ve been on Guild Wars 2 – at least 2 or three years. I ended up quitting because my old laptop could barely run the game. However, I’ve now got a computer that can run everything on ultra.

I am currently on Yak’s Bend. I’ve noticed other world’s seem more populated and I originally joined this server with RP in mind. Given the amount of time I’ve been gone, I don’t even know if this is still the best server for RP.

Would a server transfer be a good idea? And which world’s would you say are best right now?

I’m having this same problem. Glad to hear Anet is working on a fix.

What they should do is make extra bank slots, bag slots, and more character slots decrease as the price of gems increases. Or possibly make them cost gold instead of gems, because as it stands the people that pay real money have a big advantage in game over those that can’t afford it.

As for everything else – particularly cosmetic items – I see no reason people shouldn’t have to pay real money to get these things. I’ll admit that I’d love to change my hair with in game gold, but arenanet has to make money and I see no reason I shouldn’t have to pay for it as long as it doesn’t give me an advantage over those that can’t afford it.

Thanks for the help guys. I decided to go with Yak’s Bend. I noticed they were doing decently against TC in WvW plus their population seems to usually not be full, so I figure they should be good enough.

One of my real life friends is getting Guild Wars 2 today, but the current server I’m on – Tarnished Coast – is full pretty much all the time. So I’ll probably be switching servers.

Me and him both are interested in doing WvW, so I’d just like to know which server would be a good pick. I’m wanting to avoid servers that lose all the time or have barely anyone playing WvW.

Not completely sure I want Phantasmal Fury over Illusionary defense, but I’m hoping giving up some defense will be worth it.

One thing I was wondering is if Empowered Illusions makes Phantasms stronger and, if so, does it stack with Phantasmal Strength? If it doesn’t affect Phantasms I’ll probably put 5 more points into Duelist instead.

I’m also unsure about whether I want to use greatsword or staff, since I’m mainly wanting to use it for attacking from a distance and creating some clones.

Any opinions are appreciated.

I’m a new player so I don’t know much about the end game, but so far I am finding this game far more enjoyable than other mmo’s I have played. I’ve played WoW, Perfect World, and a few other MMO’s, but didn’t care for them because they felt too much like a grind. Playing with friends was fun I’ll admit, but I don’t like feeling like I have to devote all my time to a game doing repetitive tasks just to make progress.

So with that said I’d say leveling quickly is actually one of the things I enjoy about this game. It allows me to play the game at a leisurely pace and still make some decent progress when I do play, which I think this is one of the biggest differences between GW2 and most mmo’s; it seems like it was meant for players to play it leisurely. I can agree that it could be implemented better and they shouldn’t make travel cost more, but for the most part I think it’s a good idea.

And honestly, I don’t know how they would make the endgame more enjoyable than it already is anyway. Never got to WoW’s endgame and in this I’m only level 10, so I probably don’t know what I’m talking about, but I have to wonder if its endgame was really more enjoyable than doing PvP or WvW in GW2. Seems like you’ll run out of things to do eventually no matter how the game is set up.

I’m currently working on a Guardian character. Not quite as fun as playing a thief was, but I find the class to be fun enough and I enjoy the insane defense.

The only day I’ll really be free is Saturday and even then it’s only part of the day. I hope I don’t have to be on at a particular time to get one of the unique items.

The graphics looked similar to lotro’s, so I didn’t think the requirements would be too different. Obviously I was wrong, but I’m used to my computer at least being able to run games on lowest settings.

I tried it though and apparently the game runs at a playable fps for PvE. I don’t know whether my graphics card or internet speed matters more for wvw and pvp, so hopefully I can do those things as well. I’ll still be upgrading whenever I can, but I’m thankful the game is at least playable for me.

That’s a disappointing thing to hear. I don’t have enough money to spend on a new computer at the moment, so it will probably be a long time before I get to try the game. =s

I could run Lotro and WoW without any problems, so I just assumed I could run it and already payed for the game. However, today I checked on systemrequirements lab and it says my computer isn’t good enough. So now it looks likely that I won’t be able to run it. :\

The only thing that doesn’t pass, however, is my video card. They suggest I have an ATI Radeon X1800, but I have an AMD M880G with ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4250.

I don’t expect stunning graphics with amazing fps or anything, but will the game at least be playable if I tweak the graphics a bit?
