I’m looking for a build to help support the team and I was wondering if anyone else has any support builds they use for pvp? I’ve used this one before and enjoy it but it is always nice to have variety.
Very cool build and great discussion here. I was looking for something that I could run in WvW that I could transfer over to PvP when I am ready for that. I started running it last night to practice with it in WvW and got my first party request from an elementalist in an opposing faction to talk kitten b/c I beat him a couple of times in a row. I’m not very good at dueling so this was a welcomed surprise.

Okay, thank you Ansau for the tip.
Kelthien, I am going to give your build a try tonight.
Thanks Ross, I always enjoy reading the builds you post on here!
No, I used what you posted as the mish mash of stuff since I already had them as well and was not utilizing full zerk. You definitely could use full zerk but I die too fast if I do.
This is what i run. Swap torch for pistol if you find you’re not surviving enough. Spam izerker to tag zergs. Sigil of fire on GS auto attack also tags plenty. For roaming i like to blink close, ileap, magic bullet, duelist then sword 3 again for immobilize, shatter 1, then finish off with izerker as they usually try to run at this point.
Even though its a phantasm build, i still use shatter alot when the phantasms come up in the rotation. The extra burst could push that kill over the edge. Also, F4 when stomping to gaurantee it.
Being a roaming build i find the extra condi clears very useful hence harmonious mantras and mantra of recovery. (6 x condi clears and 3 heals on a short CD) Try to time recharging MoR when invisible.
Very cool build! Ran it last night while roaming. Using Centaur instead of Traveler Runes to try it out on the cheap and it still worked very well. The HM + MoR is awesome. Having that extra charge really really helps and frees up a condition removal slot for a utility.
Wow! That was insane! Thank you so much for slowing down parts of the video and explaining your combos, that was extremely helpful. That was one of the best videos I have seen, probably the best b/c Vash has some really good ones. Please keep the videos like that coming, it was just awesome!
This build is awesome! Used it last night.
Yes, you move slower w/o Traveler’s Runes but I had no problem escaping mobs of enemies.
The Baltazar Runes are only like 8s a piece so MUCH more wallet friendly than the Torment Runes.
Overall I have found that this build works pretty well against most classes and provides a lot of pressure (especially once you proc Illusionary Counter) with decent escapability depending on what you choose for your 3rd utility. As the fight wears on your enemy will start worrying about becoming defensive rather than offensive when they see 5+ stacks of torment (as well as other conditions) and their condition clearing cd is still 5+ seconds away. I don’t have mistfire wolf or I would choose that over Mass Invis.

This build is still focused around interruption but it also provides good support for healing, boon stripping on enemies and condition removal for allies.
Gear: Dire
Runes: Torment
Weapons: Staff + Scepter/Focus
Sigils: Torment/(Your Choice) + Torment/(Your Choice)
Healing: Mantra of Recovery
Utilities: Null Field, Mantra of Pain, (Your choice)
Elite: Time Warp
The goal of this build is to use Chaos Storm, Null Field and Temporal Curtain as many times as possible. In between those three I use Illusionary Counter and then pump out the clones and phantasms. After a zerg fight has been going on and the initial zerg push has passed then most enemies will not have stability or it will be on cd and that is when the Chaotic Interuption will shine. I learned from Wraith (his build here: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/mesmer/Faust-s-Build-WvW-1v1-Support-Solo-camp/first#post3919533) that for healing support you make “Mantra of Pain” auto-attack by click CTRL + Button 2. That way when you are in a fight it is constantly proccing whenever you are not casting and gives 2.7k heal when you charge it up to 5 allies. For the 2nd utility slot I put in Veil since we are known to be Viel bots but if you want another utility then feel free. I sometimes use Feedback if we have several other mesmers as the dedicated veil bots in our zerg. You’ll want to stay around the commander since I do not have any condition clearing in this build. Overall this zerg build has provided me with very good survivability as well as decent support for the zerg.
Hello everyone,
After the patch I have been messing around with the mixture of builds and have been using these for a bit. I’d like to know what you all think and how they could be improved (or scrapped…lol). Both builds use the same set of runes (torment) although for the zerg you could probably use a better rune but I wanted this build to be flexible so you could just swap some points, weapon and utilities without having to have two sets of armor while on the move.
After I got locked down by a Mesmer after the patch I wanted to try an interrupt/lockdown condition build and see how it fared. Overall when roaming solo it has done pretty well and I have been able to hold my own against thieves and condition necros where before these two would beat me almost every time. I am not the best player by any means and still have much to learn and how to react but this build seems to have helped me out a bit. There are still some cons to it which I will list below. Much thanks goes to Wraith, Pyroatheist, Black Devil, Dragon, Ross Biddle, Vash and Osicat for their ideas as well as others who I cannot think of at the moment.
Solo and Small Group Roaming WvW Build:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fhAQNAW7al0npRtFpxMNcrNCuxY6JaoCU+TTlMgfB
Gear: Dire
Runes: Torment
Weapons: Scepter/Pistol + Staff
Sigils: Torment/(Your choice) + Torment/(Your Choice)
Heal: Mantra of Recovery
Utilities: Decoy, Mantra of Resolve, (Your choice)
Elite: Mass Invis
What I was going for in this build is to provide low cooldowns for my interrupt abilities with good pressure from condition damage with torment being the focus. If you can get an Illusionary Counter to run its full duration then you will probably win the fight. IC only has an 8 second cooldown so you want to try to proc this as many times as possible b/c chances are the first one will get cleared but if you can get a 2nd one then you most likely will win easily. For interrupts you have Magic Bullet, Chaos Storm, Diversion and Mantra of Distraction or Signet of Domination if you choose one of those as your 3rd utility. I’ve found that when you can immobilize someone it throws off their timing and thus helps them make mistakes. You will also be proccing a lot of confusion, bleeding and blindness from time to time. If you use the sigil for poison then throw that condition in there as well.
With the torment sigil you will proc it enough to be pain and combine it with bleeding and the other conditions you are putting on your enemy they will be using up their condition clearing pretty fast in the first part of the fight, especially if you get an Illusionary Counter block. The torment runes help to have the duration up to over 12,000 with an IC proc if your enemy remains moving the whole time. Most likely they will not but you should be able to get somewhere between 8,000 10,000 damage if it goes for the full duration depending on how much they move while affected. The mantra of recovery also procs a torment charge on your enemy if they are in your radius. Plus the radom proc from your auto-attack and you should usually have at least one stack of torment on your enemy at most times. For the 3rd utility I have been playing around with blink, arcane thievery, mantra of distraction or signet of domination. With the first two you have much better survivability but the last two provide greater lockdown. I do not shatter too often, only when I am trying to interrupt them, need evasion or their health is low.
The major weakness of this build is condition clearing and also healing. You can combat the condition clearing if you choose arcane thievery as your third utility but healing is something I have not been able to fully address.
Do you think it would be a good idea to put Sigil of Torment and Sigil of Intelligence on each set of weapons?
Great video! Really nice to see how you handle a thief.
Thanks, video would be great!
I’ve used this one before and liked it: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/mesmer/Maximised-Hybrid-Phantasm-Build-Roaming/first
Very cool build! I was messing around last night and switched to it for the zerg I was running with and also to do some roaming. In the zerg I lasted just fine and in roaming I did pretty well by beating a warrior and a ranger (I am not very good btw). I did come across a shatter PU mesmer that beat the kitten out of me. I faced him 3-4X and he destroyed me each time but I learned a couple of things to do better next time.
I still need to get the trinkets your recommend and the sigil’s but for starters I really enjoyed it. I am using the runes of torment and hope that after the patch that this build is even stronger. How do the runes work when you use a healing skill? Does it stack 2 new stacks of torment every 20 sec you use a healing skill even if you already have 5 stacks from a block with your scepter?
What I really like about it is that if I want to roam I can just switch some of my utilities and I am good to go. I don’t have to respec and switch to a different set of gear/weapons.
Thanks for the build!
Thank you for this build Pyro! I have been running this and love it. I did make one change and that was to take the 10 points out of Confusing Enhancements and put them in Warden’s Feedback. Other than that I am using the same armor and runes. Great build where I can “mow” through the enemy’s zerg!
