Hello Everyone!
I just wanted to begin a thread on performance! I know there is probably a lot already, but by scrolling through the forums posts I haven’t seen any recent ones. So leave your system model, specifications and your fps. I personally am running a RMBP 13’’ late 2013 model. I have 8gb RAM and a 2.4Ghz to 2.9Ghz i5 (Along with Iris integrated graphics, or HD 5100, whatever) and average about 30fps in PvE zones (Lower in cities) and about 25fps on best appearance settings with reflections and shadows turned down. However there is little difference in fps between max and lowest settings.

I run a 13" MBPR. i5 2.3ghz-2.9ghz dual core 8gb ram 256gb hard drive and iris graphics and I only get around 30 fps. This makes me wonder if there is something wrong with iris or my mac. I should be achieving higher fps than a MBA
IMO.
Does someone have an explanation?
It is mostly turn around time for bugs being addressed and the support system not understanding they even have a mac client at times. The cider port is very usable when there isn’t a game breaking bug that sits unfixed for weeks.
Hello!
Yeah, I heard somewhere cider takes a percentage of performance off. But other than that it is completely usable. Why do you think that A-Net doesn’t care about the Mac Client? (They might care about it but they don’t seem to do a whole lot) Focusing on content? Too little of a base to justify it? I personally have no idea.

Nothing in life is fun if you keep doing the samethings repeatedly without new experiences.
How does League of Legends succeed. It’s even worse when it comes to lack of new content etc. Apart from an occasional champion release.
There’s no support for the client or any intention to move it form the beta status. That’s basically it. The most recent client update caused a problem that kept a lot of users from buying gems and the answer we got, until a user found a workaround, was “install windows”.
Hello
It is a true shame that they palmed off a great opportunity like this, and hopefully they come back to it sometime. I wish during the meantime they would at least share the project with some experienced coders/programmers to port it while the actual team can focus on content. The issue for me is, I just came from windows. I don’t want to have to purchase it again let a lone use it. Windows 8 and arguebly 7 in some cases are such poorly made operating systems and I think Microsofts innovation and ingenuity was left behind after XP. Anyways, here is to 2014 and it being the year when A-Net released the Mac Client!

you have to realize that the people who come to “mac beta client tech support” have a few things going on: 1) they play gw2 on a mac, 2) they have or have had problems with it. I am someone who has had problems (sorta still do…) but is currently in “perfect” working order.
I quoted ‘perfect’ because it works as-is right now, but if I increase the graphics it crashes if I move more than 3 feet (I believe it’s some combination of animation or environment options).
My computer used to handle best appearance perfectly, but I can’t use it at that due to this bug. 2010 Mac Pro
Hey there!
I realise this is the support forums, but it is also where I will find the mac users for a discussion, not windows trolls. (And it is about the mac client and what is wrong with it. Kind of.) And the people having problems can also submit their two cents! (FPS, Setup, etc.) As I said above, I run the new 13" RMBP. I get approx 30 fps average on low. Is this about the right performance? (You might not know this, but worth asking haha.) I would of thought it would be higher, even by 10 fps. Guess not. I saw a forum post on that bug too! Sounds terrible! But I never get to see it on best appearance anyway haha. I will keep updated on any bugs I encounter! Anyone else?
Hello Fellow Mac Gamers!
I have recently made the switch from windows, and do not look back. However, I was a bit nervous to open up Guild Wars 2 on the native client because I have read all of the issues people were having and the supposed negligence on A-Nets side as to updates to the Mac client. But I was surprised to find that it wasn’t THAT horrible. I mean, I get like lower fps than I should (I have a RMBP 13", late 2013 8gb 256gb), and I know that the port is responsible for that. But, I haven’t been seeing any of the game breaking bugs as everyone else. (I know, I know, I am not everyone else and this isn’t to say there isn’t those bugs, because believe me, I have seen them on youtube.) But, how bad actually is the client. In your honest opinion. Don’t forget to leave your system below in your comment. Oh, and your experience with the client.

rMBP 15 inch-
keep in mind I switch to ‘best performance’ in zergs or it goes to a slow crawl.
I dont recommend this, if your idling , or some of your HUD and windows may flicker
Ok sweet. Thanks, everyone else?

Hello fellow guildies. (Remember, prices below are in Australian, so keep that in mind.)
I have a….problem at the moment. I am about to buy a PC for school and for gaming. I am looking at a $1300au to $1700au price range. (More likely to buy >1600 unless there is a massive increase in performance.) I have my reasons for a mac, mostly the look and the build quality. (By all means, suggest SLIM and light PC laptops in my price range if you want, but only slim ones.) I really only want to play gw2 along with some other mmo’s and the occasional FPS. What is the average fps for all SKU’s of macbook pros. (I.e hd400, gt650m, i7 or i5.)
Thanks! C:
