Don’t do dungeon or fractals until you are Lvl 80 >_<

Can you explain a little more?

Also, this good info for a returning player. I only played a couple of months so thanks for this. I’ll look at the sticky too.

LOL. I love how folks like myself, who aren’t in favor of Dueling, are the ones QQing. What?

And stop with the coward comments that doesn’t support your argument and makes you look like a kitten.

Also, you should stop saying how it helps you with WvW. You and I both know that while it does exist, small group and 1v1 fights are extremely rare. They can happen and they can just as much meet the zerg. Their is no way you are better prepared for WvW by 1v1 dueling, I might buy it if you said sPvP not WvW. And the PvE argument is just a cover for “I want to own you with my ascended and legendaries”.

Now, I could agree with what some others have suggested. A gladiator arena in each city with spectator mode, point system and achievemnets. That would be a cool feature if this game was designed around it.

Say no to Duels.

Now, of course, play the way you want, but needing a reward or incentive other than killing another player, helping your realm or fun, seems odd.

Should Arena Net Release new WvW Maps?

Frankly, I think the coolest thing ever would be that each boardelands was a bit different according to lore. For example, Northern Shiverpeaks would be mountainy, snowy, and overall frozen where as Crystal desert would be deserty…..and well crystally…. I understand that would require a ton of polish, but It would REALLY make these matches completely different and would give each borderland a different feel.

This! If this were the case and have 3-4 different designs of EB that would be cool.

Server Match up is terrible

Over-populated servers vs un-populated servers (due to quitting) are not going to give you any realistic data now, or in 3 more weeks.

While I don’t agree with the NOW or IMMEDIATELY crowd I do agree with this. I’m not sure ANET is getting accurate data form TC, SoS, Mag, Ebay, DR, HoD, ET or FC. How many folks on those servers aren’t playing because they are getting rolled?

I might try remapping it to WASD and see if that works.

Well, WASD movement is the same as arrow key movement. It sounds like you might want the AD of WASD to rotate the camera which would mean you would want the left/right motion on the right stick to handle strafing? Is this what you had in mind?

Yes indeed.

I think I might be able to work something out to get that working. Just to clarify, on the left stick: Up/Down = forward/backward and Left/Right = camera rotation. And on the right stick: Up/Down = camera tilt up/down and Left/Right = strafing? Correct?

Edit: In the game you can bind the camera rotation to the Left and Right arrow keys that would solve the left stick problem. Figuring out the right stick might be tricky.

Other Edit: I messed around with it a bit and had some luck, but unfortunately I didn’t have all luck. Trying to set it up how you like creates issues with Pinnacle and I’m not sure it can be fixed, it’s a limitation of the program. My original profile is pretty standard when it comes to playing 3rd person games, you might want to familiarize yourself with that instead. Sorry.

Again, appreciate the effort. I think you’re right I just need to get used to it.

Something doesn’t feel quite right at the moment. I’ll tinker around and see if I can fix that. Guess I’m just used to keyboard/mouse right now.

Can you better describe the problem you’re having? Specifics would help. I can probably help you get it sorted out.

Not sure exactly how to describe it. Basically I don’t feel like I can strafe properly. When using KB/M I’ll steer with both LMB and RMB pressed and moving the mouse. When in combat I release LMB and use WASD with the RMB to fight and strafe. I noticed you have movement assigned to the arrows. I might try remapping it to WASD and see if that works.

Was it difficult to set up? I have a controller (not Xbox, same layout though) and figured i couldn’t just use your layout.

Pinnacle supports a bunch of different controllers, check the lower right part of this page to see if yours is listed:
http://pinnaclegameprofiler.com/

Other than that you just need to download Pinnacle, visit the forum post in the OP, download the file, import it into Pinnacle and launch the game from within Pinnacle. If you are even moderately computer savvy it shouldn’t be an issue.

Appreciate it. Appreciate the hard work. I need to see if I can do something different with the camera. I usually use wasd and the RMB to move and strafe. Something doesn’t feel quite right at the moment. I’ll tinker around and see if I can fix that. Guess I’m just used to keyboard/mouse right now.

Why I came back to GW2

None of you guys misses the holy trinity ? Dunno y but after playing for 4 months of GW2 I started missing the holy trinity.

I do. I miss specific roles, it’s just a style I prefer. But, I don’t think I can go back to non action combat. For me GW2 has the best mix of combat and skills/trait system that I have ever played and I have played most.

There are some games on the horizon that will have action combat, holy trinity and vertical progression. I am certain that if they are good I will be gone. Didn’t realize how much I missed the trinity and vertical progression.

A couple of questions.

Was it difficult to set up? I have a controller (not Xbox, same layout though) and figured i couldn’t just use your layout.

Also has anyone tried this and/or the Nostromo keypad? Which seems better. I’ve got large hands and I need to find a better solution than trying to scrunch up my hand to select the proper keys.

Thanks.

We’re trying something very unique and different with Gw2, and a lot of it plays back on the original ideas and concepts we had for the game all these years we’re trying to build towards and accomplish. It’s important to us to continue to try new things, looking at ways of evolving and innovating what a live game can be. In many cases, we’re learning right along with you guys how all of this is going to work for a live game, and constantly adjusting as we see the outcomes and find ways to innovate on what a true online world experience can be.

Living World is above all, the attempt to really give the sense the world is constantly changing and evolving. That there is events and content that change the world in the short term (like our current events) and events that can occur or change for the long term, which is what we’re slowly building towards in the future with Living World content.

Living world absolutely does not mean nothing but content that comes in and leaves again a few weeks later, and though so far that’s primarily what you’ve seen, it’s not all we will do in the future. The intent is living world provides us with a story and narrative experience, sort of like your favorite TV show, to constantly update and change the world and provide unique and exciting rewards on a regular basis.

We might have events that occur and came back again with a few modifications in the future. We may have events that occur and then find new homes permanently down the road. We may have bosses from a storyline that continue on forever as guild bounty hunts when a story completes. Living world also allows us the opportunity to upgrade and make parts of our existing game better permanently, a living world narrative could allow us to rebuild and change an existing zone or dungeon, or could destroy one entirely.

Our goal is to get to a point where on a regular basis, the world around you is not only changing in the short term through our normal event system, it’s changing and evolving permanently through our living world releases as well. What you’ve seen so far is primarily some tests and warmup stuff while we in the background organize the company to support this exciting future for our game, the future for living world is filled with endless possibilities.

Enjoy the ride!

Thanks so much for coming in and explaining your desire to bring us new things. And, like your desire for limiting roles and the trinity, it seems this will just take some getting used to.

I will just say that the reason I am frustrated by it is because we are the guinea pigs of your attempts at new things, and we have already paid for the game. I would be more understanding if I was on a test server or still in Beta. I do understand that all developers put content in to their games and it doesn’t always work. With Anet it seems you continue to put in content that feels not only temporary but rushed. Obviously I’ll either get used to it or I won’t.

I would like to thank you for Spectator mode in sPvP and WvW. Those things right there keep me involved in your game. I look forward to seeing what you decide is worthy to stay in your PvE world.

I’d rather ArenaNet let me decide when I’m tired of a dungeon rather than putting a time limit on it at all. Leave it around, and when players are done with it they’ll stop playing it.

There really is nothing more to say than this. Agreed!

Yes, there are only 2 players on FC. You and, well, Ferguson. When you log off it is on him. But he is OP as he currently has FC in second place in WvW.

I say we nerf Ferguson.

Why hasn’t this been closed yet? It doesn’t promote a discussion nor it offers constructive critisism.

In before the lock, OP there are many games out there, go find one you like.

Actually it does offer constructive criticism, you may not agree with it, but it’s still there.

It’s like Rift. There wasn’t much to do and there was virtually no progression until Trion added AA to the game. Then it got a bit better for some people for a while.

That’s what will happen here too. People need to be patient. MMOs have always needed time to mature. Guild Wars 2 is no different.

I actually agree with this and have no problem being patient, when I have been shown or believe that something good is coming. Fortunately, since I haven’t been shown, I’ll be here in WvW and if they do bring some good things to PvE (I’d love an AA system) then I’ll jump in.

You guys are painting yourself into corners. You don’t want MMO gameplay, but you want to play MMOs. You don’t want difficult, time-consuming tasks and complain about not being invested in your characters. No kidding. If you don’t work for anything, and it’s all easy, and everyone’s a hero, suddenly no-one is and you don’t get the sense of satisfaction and achievement that comes with doing something difficult.

What the OP is describing is the inevitable result of the design. Congratulations on feeling it, but understand you don’t get one without the other. You can’t have both easy and rewarding. Take your pick, it’s one or the other.

I would clearly be labeled as a “casual” player and I could not agree more with what tolkien said. Risk v Reward is lacking in this game on the PvE side and is also lacking in a number of games anymore.

For me, and I’ll wager many others, you need to have some sort of vertical progression for character building and content in the PvE scope of the game. That doesn’t mean a gear treadmill with raids. But, it also doesn’t mean no advancement other than through a story. If you get to 80 in this game you are through building your character. Yes their are some skins that can be found and you can work towards ascended and legendary gear to give you a bump up in strength, but after that? Nothing. For some folks that seems to work, for others, myself included, not so much.

OP I hope you can find an area to enjoy. For me it’s WvW and the combat mechanics. If that was not available I wouldn’t be able to play this game and would have left to find something else.

Good luck.

I’m glad for SF.

While winning is always nice, I imagine they will be happy when they reach a tier that has similar coverage and numbers. They’ll be able to test their skill better, and they do have it it’s not all about their #s, and see how they measure up.

The only thing I get tired of seeing is some of the folks from ET and FC clinging to the coattails of SF. Y’all are on your second new server since SF left. Earn your glory in your tier quit trying to ride SF’s glory as they earn their way up..
