I think the prevailing (read: popular) theory is that the jungle Elder Dragon (Mordremoth?) intended for the Sylvari to be his champions/minions, but for some reason, the Pale Tree and The Dream have come into play to shield the Sylvari from his influence. This is backed up by the established lore that Ceara/Scarlet “took” into the machine that was designed to see the Eternal Alchemy “only what she already possessed.”
The device was designed to strip away externalities so that one only experienced the Eternal Alchemy. All other previous volunteers died as a result of the device, yet none of them were Sylvari (I may be remembering this wrong, feel free to correct me). The first Sylvari, Scarlet, went through the same process, but there was a significant difference – Mordremoth.
“What Scarlet Saw” mentions the Pale Tree pleading with Scarlet to turn away and go no further. It is clear that the Pale Tree is protecting Sylvari from something. Frankly, it makes perfect sense to me that Sylvari are “perverted” champions of Mordremoth.
I don’t think the Living Story could possibly have anything to do with the Personal Story because the developers have stated they try to avoid contradictions/paradoxes between the living story and personal story. They don’t want to alienate people who haven’t yet completed their Personal Story so I doubt we’ll ever see a continuation of what happens in Orr and with Zhaitan unless they do it as an extension to the Personal Story, rather than through the Living Story.
Ya know, I’m not a huge fan of Scarlet as a character or the overall storyline, but to say that ANet is shoving her into places she doesn’t belong, in this instance, is just wrong. We’ve known, for quite some time, that she’s been trying to pierce the Mists and do something with them, as they pertain to the Eternal Alchemy. This is absolutely 100% within the realm of possibilities, considering Scarlet’s motivations. This isn’t some deus ex machina or completely out of the blue.
Generally, the first update of a month lasts the whole month (4 weeks) while the 2nd update of the month also lasts until the end of the month (2 weeks). What throws off this living story update is the fact that there was a long break between updates so we don’t really know if this is the start of a new cycle (4 weeks) or, since it started in the middle of the month, will only last 2 weeks.
I’d wager, but this is completely speculation on my part, that the next 4 updates, which the developers have stated are the “finale” updates to the living story thus far, will all be available for 2 weeks each. This puts the final living story update sometime in March, which the devs have said is when this story arc will end.
I should know better than to play on patch day. I can’t even remember the last time there haven’t been bugs, but these bugs are simply inexcusable. Way to make the new content incredibly frustrating!
I used to run this game at 45 or 50 FPS on the highest settings, now with the latest patch from yesterday (6/27) I am running the game at 5-10 FPS on these same settings. Getting horribly long load screens, overall lag, etc. Changing the game to the lowest possible settings results in 40 FPS. This is completely unacceptable. I just bought this computer solely so I could play GW2 on the highest settings – it is the only PC game I play. I’ve tested other internet applications and online games and they run just fine. What the hell is going on over there, ANet?
I run a guild of ~150 people and there are some serious problems with the way guild bounty missions are run. The only option to complete tier 2 and tier 3 within the 15 minute time limit is to scout out all 15 possible targets in advance, then have people keep them by waypoints to kill them with ease. I doubt this is the way you wanted these missions to be run. Even adding just 5 more minutes to the timer would help smaller guilds tremendously. It’s no fun trying to run around the map and search for them legitly, especially since most targets’ paths take them around the whole zone. Making it so you need 15 people just to find these NPCs really limits the smaller guilds and it simply isn’t fun.
Some instances are bugged. When you reach the first pause point, when the gears spawn and rotate into place, if you see them pause around 1/2 way for a second, then rotate to the floor position, chances are, the instance is bugged. When bugged, you won’t be able to jump through the window.
This is EXACTLY right. I thought it was weird that the gear would stop halfway for a second, then land the right way when I was trying to do this on another character. Thank you for confirming my suspicion that it is bugged in some instances!
I tested it this morning.
As the tower is coming around, you need to jump towards the far right of the tower (and as high up as you can). That’s giving me consistent results.
That’s what I’ve been trying lately. I stick to the far right of the stairs, near the very top, just enough room to run a bit and then jump. It’s like I hit an invisible wall every time.
So I completed the puzzle on my charr character. First time I got all the way to the top I made it into the clock tower no problem. Now I’m running through on a different character, she’s a tiny human, and I’ve made it up to the top of the puzzle 11 times and all 11 times I somehow screw up the jump into the clock tower. I’ve watched videos, changed up my strategy, NOTHING changes the outcome – I always look like I’m getting into the tower, but then it spits me back into the waiting room.
Anyone have any insight into how I should approach that final jump into the clock tower?
I was under the impression that there are no achievements tied to the one-time finale event. So maybe that last part of the achievement is just being released as part of act 3, so you will have multiple days to complete it.
I’d also like to know if you need to be in game at a very specific time (I’m guessing when the event meter in Lion’s Arch center reaches the end) on the 28th? I’d be pretty bummed if I missed it just because I wasn’t sitting there all day waiting around for it to “pop.”
That’s better than me. I’ve done the same 3 you have and still show 0 events completed. I’m thinking the achievements are bugged and hopefully a fix comes soon.
In the Special Events achievement tab, my progress for the 4 Halloween Events completed achievement still shows 0 out of 4, even though I completed the scavenger hunt and turned it in for volume one (the back armor that looks like a book). Is this the correct event or did I do something wrong? I’m paranoid about missing out on all of the Halloween stuff and would be pretty upset if I missed out on something.
