So here I am. Again.
I thought I’d try the Autodetect settings and put the shaders on low.
Nope.
Got a crash about 30 mins in, just standing in Verdant Brink:
Heap, bytes=4194752
A serious error has occurred that prevented the application from continuing. A report has been sent to ArenaNet to help determine the cause.
Is that even true? Are you really determining the cause?

I should add that zoning, switching characters, viewing cutscenes are also potential crash points. I cross my fingers every time I zone. Is that really what PC users are experiencing?

I am a long time Guild Wars 1&2 player. I’ve have everything I can get my hands on in this franchise, I just love it. I happily participate in the microtransaction model to support a free monthly service, which I hate even mentioning because it feels like an entitlement claim, but I’m trying to express my support because I feel strongly that Anet is doing everything right–except this. This nonsense is really trying my patience, and I’m not using the phrase lightly.
I have some specific information about my own constant crashes, and what I’ve done to try and help myself.
Here are my specs:
MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014)
2.2 GHz Intel Core i7
Memory 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Graphics Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB
Yosemite 10.10.5
I have been crashing a lot–a LOT–lately. It’s really horrendous. Several times a night, while I am in high-pressure situations like SW or Teq, even fractals/dungeons. Tonight, HoT night, I have crashed 6 times. It’s been live for less than 2 hours.
This month I tried turning my graphics all the way down to lowest on everything, and that has been the only way I can experience a reasonable modicum of stability. This is the only way I can play the game. Black faces. Default models. I can’t see anyone’s gear, and the textures look like hell. It’s a travesty. That has been my Guild Wars 2 experience for a month or so. This test case is easily reproducible, I hope you’ll try it for yourself.
And while I appreciate very much your response, Jon, I have serious doubts PC users need to play on the lowest setting in order to play the game at all. In fact, I find this statement dismissive and I’m disappointed by that.
I don’t know how I can more forcibly express just how loathsome my GW2 experience has been recently. It’s unacceptable. Just unacceptable. Please hear what we are saying and look at the errors that are sent specifically from the Mac client. It still says Beta for goodness sake. 3 years? beta? Please address those issues specific to Mac, even if PC users aren’t having them.
Other Mac people: try this. Play on the lowest graphics settings and throttle your FPS to 30. If this feels dissatisfying, and that little message that says your serious error was sent to the Anet team for evaluation seems ineffective, come back here and be vocal about it. I don’t know what else we’re expected to do.

I am crashing like crazy here. I had to do the personal story missions twice, because each time I reached a cut scene, the game crashed. I’m on the Mac client.
