Guild Wars 2

We were guessing that it’s some sneaky file hiding somewhere that doesn’t get imported when you open the game from the new admin account.

We just did the “create new admin” trick on my partner’s computer and it worked!!
Thank you SO much for discovering this fix. Now we can get back to killing all the things!

I just had this same problem where I wasn’t able to bring up the launcher and tech support had me do all of those things to no avail. The thing that ended up working was setting up a new user by going to system preferences ->users->make a new admin user-> log out of your current user and open the game on the new one. It worked for me when nothing else would. I’m curious why.

Well, that’s weird. My partner has tried all the other troubleshooting suggestions, to no avail. Might give this a try. It seems really odd that doing something like that would work. But, it also seems odd that the client would randomly, and without warning, decide to just NOT open.

I’m in the same scenario here. The launcher will not even launch without crashing and I can’t access the game at all. No amount of restarting my mac or Reinstalling Guild Wars 2 has fixed this. The game was working fine for me until the last patch.

The exact same thing is happening to my partner. We were having a great time playing, until 2 days ago, when the update crashed the launcher and she was unable to open it again. Tried EVERYTHING suggested. Multiple times. She had always had weird problems, like the camera spinning, or random crashes, but this is just awful. I’ve lucked out, because even though my little PC laptop is not the greatest money can buy, it rarely has issues (aside from overheating, but that’s what desk fans are for – even in winter), but now we can’t even play together, which kind of blows the game for me.

My friend is still having no luck, even after reinstalling the game and trying everything else.
It’s really frustrating. We were having a lot of fun doing the events in the new zones, even with her periodic crashes.

Hey, at least you can get it to actually open…

I did it with the second character I took over there, simply because I didn’t feel like doing the story quest just to get in.

If you want to just skip the quest and go in, and have one of those “teleport to friend” tokens, or whatever they call them, you can group with someone who is in the region and use one. Won’t solve the persistent crashing, but at least you will have access to the region.

Like the title says… my friend can no longer open the launcher since this last update on her Mac. Uninstalled and reinstalled. Restarted computer numerous times. Still, nothing.
Anyone else have this problem, and is there a solution?
