Sinos…content built around being rewarded is bad? Really? When you go pay $10 for a movie now a day and it sucks and is not a rewarding experience do you say, oh well, or do you say man that movie was a waste of time. I’d love to have fun in dungeons, in fact, i could overlook not really getting anything but a silly skin for it if it was infact, as you put it, fun…which they are not. They are a mess.

So people want more than just a new “cool” skin as a reward for doing a long drawn out mass chaos dungeon. And Anet wants people to rely on skill and not stats. Ok so why not go all the way back to Zelda and have us earn something that we never had before the dungeon in the way of a skill(slot or weapon) or trait or sigil or something to that effect. Maybe a specific one for each dungeon? I don’t know just kind of trying to find a middle ground here.

then maybe have us acquire a skill or trait or sigil or something that can only be unlocked from said dungeon? This is the problem with these changes. change for the sake of change is never good. they changed the trinity system, ok, and? changed it to what? did they change the boss mechanics along with it? take gear stats out and just reward them with skins? yeah i want my toon to look cool yes, but not with the same everything i had before i did said dungeon. i want to come away from it with something i never had. i also definately want the dungeon to be worth it…something i have yet to feel.

After 2 changes ( tokens system and karma add) of pure win, i actually can hope for good changes in the future. Think about it op.

Oh, I’m sure they’ll get it right eventually. I’m simply asking for some community dialog. They’ve been largely silent. And let’s be honest: both of the changes they’ve made so far are relatively simple and don’t affect the core problem, which are the dungeon encounters themselves. The core problem revolves around the uber-simplistic “challenge” of high boss HP pools instead of truly interesting/challenging boss mechanics. The lack of visible telegraphs for the one-shot kills, and enough time to react to the telegraphs, and by “visible” I meant truly noticeable through all the chaos and bling. And perhaps the biggest offender is the insane overkill of the trash mobs in various regards.

oh so i went through all that mass chaos and badly designed fights just to possibly get an item that i can wear that might make me LOOK cooler. sounds like a commercial for gap.

since they got rid of the “trinity” they must change the mechanics of fights. you cannot change one and not the other. Amra you nailed it. And i loved the OP’s comment about duke nukem circle straffing lol that’s so spot on sir well done. Dying isn’t a big deal anymore, so far in my experiences in this game that’s not a good thing. These dungeons are just mass chaos and a major turnoff which sucks because i love everything else about this game but to me a great dungeon, nothing can top it.

I give dungeons in this game a 1/10.

yeah i was in a couple groups that just decided to run thorugh everything. well as you can imagine that turned out horrible. that tells me two things; one their dungeon system is very systematically flawed if people are doing whatever they can to skip it. and two, as evident by my arguments with group members, if you die then you suck. hmm, that tells me that dying in this game is not a big deal like it is in other games not just mmo’s. If you died in other games, you screwed up bad and you need to fix it, you had to be on your toes and it forced you to learn quickly about your class. and we go through all of this for what? tokens? for loot that is no better than what i can buy, craft, or find in the world? ooooo right the LOOK of the item, yeah that’s it, i did all that so my character can look just a little cooler(which is debatable)….you know i do not like WoW no a days but man vanilla had it. you saw some people with epic items and stat lines and you knew they were the bad boys.

Make the dungeons challenging yes, but for god’s sake make them make sense and fun and a reward that is an actual reward. Even in the orginal Zelda when you did a dungeon you received item(s) that signified you were ready for the next step, that you conquered that difficult task.

Please improve on this Anet because i like your game i really do, but i cannot in good conscious recommend it to my family and friends because all of us relish a fantastic dungeon/raid system.

agreed if you’re going to change up the trinity type boss fights then you must change up the fight and the mechanics of the boss fight. you can’t just change 1 side and leave the other the same it doesn’t work…obviously.

So since Anet is seemingly more interested in skins of armor rather than stats as a reason to do dungeons, and we can preview armor and weapons on every other front, why can’t we preview what an item looks like BEFORE we purchase said item on the TP?

lol typical response “go play WoW” I agree completely with the OP. “the reason a lot of people keep dying in dungeons is because they have a solo build on their toon” REALLY!? what other build is there to have lol. YOU avoid the pathetic red circles, YOU heal yourself, YOU know when to evade, the list goes on and on. and Runeblade…lol…just stop. yeah let’s do ALL of that while there’s mass chaos going on give me a break.

Agreed, never had fun once doing dungeons and honestly, what’s the point of doing them? You don’t learn more about your class, exp is very poor for what we’re put through, items suck(oh but wait i want that cool looking skin to transmorgraph lol) If i’m going through all that mass chaos that is a dungeon then i want something more than a neat skin i’m sorry.

I agree. I ran AC and CM 6 times and wish to never go to either one again. They are poorly designed, don’t require a whole lot of strategy, and mass chaos. And to think i waited ALL the way to lvl 30 for this? ha!

couldn’t agree more with the OP. “oh just avoid the red circles…” really? rolls eyes I have ran them 6 times and never once enjoyed myself. high repair bill, lackluster exp for what we go through, and items i can seldom use.

I couldn’t agree more with the original poster. And you GW lovers who think this game has no flaws and tell us to just go play wow or we suck need to really lighten up and not speak. This is our experience and our opinions if you don’t like it keep it to yourself but don’t trash us for it. These dungeons are mass chaos.

I agree, their dungeon mechanics are down right horrible i’m sorry. As are most of the people leading them. Just came out of AC exp where he just ran through all the mobs, ran in to a room full of them looking for sceptor pieces while we all died repeatedly. And when i questioned him about his methods i got told to just go back to WoW and quit complaining. How am i supposed to enjoy a dungeon or learn about my character when we just run randomly through mobs, die, rez, to get to final boss? I’m sorry but while i agree WoW has gone downhill bigtime, at least their dungeons of old were a lot of fun. GW2 is mass chaos it seems to me. “wow what just killed me?” “WHO just attacked me with what spell?” are questions i ask a lot.

YES i know of the little red circles of death, but honestly…really? just avoid red circles? And when i calmly try to discuss this with people in the game they just thrash me and pretend their game is perfect and that i’m a wow fanboy which i am not. Haven’t played in years. The only thing i get in dungeons is loot i most of the time can’t use, horrible exp, and a nasty repair bill because apparently it’s ok to die over and over.

Don’t get me wrong i love the rest of this game, well except for the lackluster travel options in wvw but that’s another point. But i have always enjoyed a good dungeon system over almost anything going all the way to the original Zelda. This game sadly does not have it.
