I did read your post and I am completely capable of understanding how some people will feel the basic design of the “One-Time-Event” like this is unfair. Their opinion is still valid.
That said, there are certainly ways to increase the availability of the event to the rest of the world. My personal preference would be to offer these events for 24-48 hours in a queue system… when enough people have queued up, it creates an instance that they are saved to like dungeons so they can re-enter if disconnected.
People can make their opinions known… yours is not the only valid one. Arenanet will decide to make changes or not, but it should be important to them to receive feedback rather than squelch their consumers voices.
Challenge is fine, if it was from fighting the mobs. Unfortunately many of us are fighting the technical limitations of the game. Overflow maps have far too many people in them and it is causing the mobs to be culled. People were thinking that mobs were dropping in behind us, but it was actually mobs rolling over us and only started to render once they were behind the mass of players.
Add to that the problem with lag. My framerate is staying decent, but I’m being killed by effects that visibly land after I have been downed by them.
My only hope is that ArenaNet learns from this event and changes future events to function properly within the limitations of the game.
Gave up and left… after 50 minutes of futility.
Event Ring moved to the boss in the overflow I’m in… but it is still resetting to full health. This has been a terrible experience for the Refer-A-Friend weekend.
Due to the day that the WvWvW matches reset on, the World Bonuses Gained are at a low point when the player population is high.
I have three possible ideas for this…
Option 1. Change the reset day to Monday.
Pros: More people get the benefit of the World Bonuses over the Weekend.
Could have more interesting ends to matches due to higher populations on weekends.
Cons: Could have an opposite effect, causing less people bother to join WvW on the weekend if they feel they can’t overcome the points difference accrued during the week.
Option 2. Make the ending points total affect the entire following week.
Pros: The Points Total has more meaning to the server.
Could increase server participation in WvW.
Cons: Higher scoring servers would be more desirable and could be affected by transfers.
Could alter the market values with bonuses lasting a week.
Option 3. Reset day stays the same, but the weekend retains the ending points value for the bonus.
Pros: The World Bonus is a solid benefit for the server during high population.
Could increase participation during the week.
Cons: Higher scoring servers would be more desirable and could be affected by transfers.
Artillery Marker. Make it so any siege within range gets a directional arrow and power needed indicator.
I wouldn’t mind seeing a “Trusted Commander” type of thing, where once they have enough votes it changes the icon to a different color. Keep the commander icon/title purchased, but allow the community to discern their worthiness.
There will probably be the need for it to terminate and have to be re-voted every month or so to not cause an issue if the account is sold/transferred.
Can we expect to see something like Blizzard’s Warden system for catching the speed/fly hackers at some point?
The Orbs are certainly something that needs to return in a retooled form, but without hacking detection in place they will always be a source of drama.
It’s not the exploiting or tactics that makes me think less of Blackgate… it’s the posts.
The Halloween Act 3 Event Cinematic was great, but I’m sure many people missed it. I would love to have a way to replay it that does not rely on someone posting a video of it. What I’d suggest is to have an NPC nearby during the holiday that you can start a dialog with to ask them “What happened here?”, at which point it loads you into a personal instance and replays the cinematic.
There is no PvP server because it would require maintaining a separate code branch and the game was not designed around open-world-pvp.
Comp Shuts off after 20 minutes / new graphics card.

Many Video Cards have a fairly hefty Amperage requirement on the 12V Rail of your powersupply. A bit of Google-Fu shows that a 550ti needs 24amps minimum from the 12V output.
For buying a new power supply… wattage alone doesn’t tell you everything. You need to look at the output ratings, which look like “+3.3V@25A, +5V@25A, +12V@46A, -12V@0.8A, +5VSB@3.0A”, that example lists a 46amp output for the 12 Volt Rail.
However, there are other possible causes to your problem. Most motherboards BIOS will shut down the system if it is going beyond the heat-threshold that it is set to. It is a possibility that your BIOS is improperly set to a low temperature.
I have had one instance of a system shutting down randomly while underload, but there was no fix for it other than to replace the motherboard. A capacitor had gone bad and I’m terrible at soldering.
I would like the option to see announcements put into the chat window. Things like…

PlayerName has logged out.
PlayerName has completed NameOfAchievement.
PlayerName is now representing GuildName.
PlayerName has reached level (10/20/30/40/50/60/70/80).
