thats awesome willis, such a pretty game too, those fps are very good for this type of game. 35 min fps is still good in this game as its a 3rd person, sorry i havent been playing much since hitting level 80.

Been in muliplayer BF3 (havent played that for a long time) soo fun HEADSHOT !
& currently replaying crysis series before 3 comes out & Star craft 2 before heart of swarm comes

awww kitten what did they do to batman’s SLI profile
“Be very very quiet im hunting rabbits” far cry 3 always blows me away

But after reading an article last night on one of my NEXT pre orders ALIENS COLONIAL MARINES, the designer said there wasnt gonna be the bells and whistles of DX 11 in it but still have it, which is ashame. it woulda looks soo much better and enhanced the atmosphere.

You should try out some of the latest DX11 GPU hungry games out there for your top of the line 7970 makes this game look cartoony. ummmm haha. oh wait thats borderlands 2 giggles

nothing beats sun flare blinding you as you running staring at the sun and it all disappears and you find yourself looking down the turret of a T90 or the gorgeous reflections of neon lights reflecting off a wet surface as physx is blasting snow around you in Gotham city

soo many titles are graphically pleasing too : hitman absolution, assassins creed 3, Mass effect 3, La noire, Mafia 2, max payne 3, Deus eX, Crysis series , Dirt series etc etc cant list them all

cough there is a 7990 ati’s equivalent beast to gtx 690.

Im still keeping an eye out for Cyberpunk 2077, GTA V, Watchdogs, RE6, Tomb Raider, Metro Last Light, Lost planet 3

& inconclusion to the other thread “will my system benefit from SLI” with the games i play, the resolution I play at, or the 3D imersion when i want it & Maxed MSAA & Ultra settings all the way , it sure does 95% of the time… just not feeling it as much in gw2

if the above didnt work also try :

1. Navigate to your Guild Wars 2 installation folder.
2. Right-click on “GW2.exe” and select “Create Shortcut.”
3. Rename this shortcut to “Guild Wars 2 Repair.”
4. Right-click on this shortcut and select “Properties.”
5. Edit the “Target” line to include -repair at the end.
Note: Please make sure -repair is outside of the quotes
Correctly Formatted Example: “C:\Games\Guild Wars 2\GW2.exe” -repair
Incorrectly Formatted Example: “C:\Games\Guild Wars 2\GW2.exe -repair”
6. Once completed, click “Ok” to save your changes.
If you get an error trying to save, your target line may not have the correct format. Please try step 5 again.
7. Double click “Guild Wars 2 Repair” to start the repair process.
Once completed, please try starting Guild Wars 2 again.

Had the same problem when i bought this game.

are you running any On Screen Displays?
HWinfo, MSI Afterburner, EVGA Precision

I notice if you turn these off before entering , you will make it to the the server screen, then you can turn it back on by alt+tab or whatever

correct unless you can and Im just guessing you will finish the game before that patch day, but theres plenty to do & plenty of expansions to come im guessing. well no some peeps are getting awesome frame rates off $200 ~ $300 CPU s because they are over clocked (which is something the user can change to aid their fps)

I wouldnt say its a bad engine from my experience, graphically its a work of art, very creative & Innovative in design and all round enjoyable game.

AMD processor need to be overclocked to increase performance.

So does Intel, so we are all in the same boat here

But how many games have you seen on the back of the box give you system requirements that state : requirement 2600k OC to 4.7 or FX 8150 OC to 4.5

the movie “The hobbit” (that one in 3D 48 frames per second, twice as fast as the current standard)

Very correct all movies are either 24 fps , 25 fps to , 59 fps, 60fps depending where you are in the world, and how it was encoded. No one ever turns around in a movie and says that was choppy as . because it is consistant frame after frame and sync’d.

In the pc gaming world however, i feel this does not apply as such, yes you can vsync 30 fps and if consistant it looks great. But i can ensure you it feels sluggish compared to 60fps because i feel its missing half the frames that it could be producing on a 60hz monitor. I was once how could this be then when playing Battlefield 3 or MOHW at 120fps on 120hz than 30fps 30hz or 60fps on 60hz monitor its like night and day

then you gotta take in account , micro stutters, cpu processing, gpu processing and networking, which breaks up the consistency, input lag etc etc.

Theres only been a few 7970 threads , but majority have the same problem. but dont threat soo much cause that card is the flagship of ATI and is in the top 5 cards on the market today.. makes you wonder you can max everything else out but GW2 comes along in DX9 (kinda like The Witcher 2) and makes you question your rig. Give Anet time to iron out the kinks , (its only high population maps anyways, whats that lions arch & wvw maps?) no PC game has been released perfectly in the last year and required no patching on launch day onwards.

PAWNSTAR.2437

Not for Gw2… if u plan to buy crysis3, in the other hand, (which i don´t) SLI will be usefull. Btw the 670 is a fast as the 680 :P only noob would buy a 680 anyway (or a rich guy ofc)

and at this guy , We are both on the same side lol , I agree with you 670 is just as fast as a 680 which i was disappointed at the results from NVIDIA last year for doing that, but my graphic cards has custom LEDs that match my lighting system. Only difference is +3 -5 frames difference possibly, then peeps can argue you can overclock the 670s to equal the 680 or better than it , what you cant over clock 680s?

Then peeps would futher argue are you catering to your display monitor, are you using generic 1920 x1080 60hz or were you different and separate yourself from that crowd and wanted more. (screens or resolution) or are you playing games that require the power of SLI that required more VRAM usage

again personal preference , whatever floats your boat and it is totally fun being rich

@ the original poster, gosh i always forget to read the first, should be more than adequate for that resolution. however tech moves quickly and games engines are not far behind these days, so eventually as games progress through the year somethings in graphics menus would need to be turned down.

SLI is just your buffer for a while, nothing is future proof, i suggest buying the first card then SLI later down the track if you feel the need.(but by then you probably start seeing the 7 Series). But cater to that monitor which from memory is 75hz, so to utilise full usage of it you require 75fps + but anything over 60 should be awesome anyways.

Theres NO point having 180fps if your screen cant produce it eg 60hz monitor with 180 fps would be a waste. but if you have say 90fps max on a 120hz monitor you will still notice the fluency. Since i got 120hz monitor , i have not seen screen tearing at all and thats with vsync off, but jumping back onto a 60hz monitor feels terrible

The Downside ~ expect the electricity bill to go up on a SLI setup
and dont expect too much from gw2 in SLI unless you have OC the CPU

Agreed after benchmarking/playing majority of the graphic intensive games on the market, I would still crown Metro 2033 & Crysis 1 & Batman AC the kings of giving graphic cards the hardest workout, but even last christmas games are getting there too.

I just finished Metro 2033 in 3D a couple of months ago, when it was something i had packed a way for a long time until it had some tweaking done to it, its spectacular in 3D and yes my computer acted as my heater for the winter time. I love Physx , bring more physx games out !! cant wait for Last light, crossing fingers for march

Im not a NVIDIA fanboy or anything but i have had my fair share of ATI cards.
so stacking the pros & cons , I only came up with PHYSX as the difference other than ATI is a hell of a lot cheaper, but Nvidia has almost launch day support with drivers

Almost like playing borderlands 2 without physx , pew pew !!
(so im guessing ATI get higher benchmarks cause they dont render things they cant?)
mind you theres only a handful of physx enabled games.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EWFkDrKvBRU

haha yea 75% ~ 100% fan noise can be loud depends on room temperature too, i notice my 580 gtx sli setup was louder than my 680 gtx sli setup , but that kinda becomes a small background sound, when the Logitech 5.1 Surround sound 5500 THX Certified is pumping

(Watercooling is a must for my next gaming rig build)
But Air to Air aint that bad considering my case is the NZXT phantom 820
4 × 20cm , 4 × 14 cm she does the job well

I guess you learn alot from building comps overtime, on what works what doesnt, what limits you etc etc.

But we are all gamers, we love to game. So just like the graphics menu in game and building a computer you either spend more money to max it out or OC it or we turn things down and spend money to a budget to squeeze the performance out.

My personal preference , if your staring at a screen playing & doing the things you love, wouldnt you want it looking its best and performing at its best?

Next on the playlists “ALIENS COLONIAL MARINES” if gearbox can bring, the feeling of Fear & Suspense from Music and the lighting and gameplay , this should be worth it for the die hard fans of ALIENS series , minus the predator of course.. Please be 3D Vision enabled too that would rock !!

Frostbite 2, Crytek, Crystal Dynamics, Rockstar, Blizzard Entertainment hasnt let me down yet

i have gtx 670 in sli and 3770k @ 4.8ghz get over 60fps at 5900×1080.

http://www.evga.com/forums/tm.aspx?&m=1537816&print=true&mpage=1

Thats godly, i was thinking of the 3770k upgrade over my 2600 , a while back but was waiting for next gen chips to bench some numbers of a totally massive power gain.

how does the rig go with the following games in surround, im wanting to buy surround but im a quality nut and i hate turning things down and was wondering could it be done with the settings i use now?

I usually play on 2560×1600 for campaign mode in games for eye candy, 120hz in multiplayer mode for competitiveness(if thats a word), then use 3D Vision on the hardest difficulty mode if it supports it at 1920×1080 & If I totally love the game.

  • Batman arkham city ~ 32x CSAA, MVSS & HBAO, high DX11 tessellation, extreme detail level, Physx High
  • Crysis ~ AA 16xQ , very high settings.
  • Metro 2033 ~ MSAAx4, DX11 on, Very High Quality Level. Advanced DOF, Physx ON
  • Sleeping Dogs ~ Max settings (Great game) but if any computer can run that above 1920 × 1080 has a NASA machine.
  • Far Cry 3 ~ DX11, MSAAx8, Advanced coverage, HDAO, Ultra preset
  • Max Payne 3 ~ DX11, Very High settings, FXAA very high, MSAA x8, AF x16, HDAO, tessallation very high
  • Hitman Absolution ~ MSAA x8, ultra settings, fxaa ON, global ON, tess ON

Average FPS On Max Settings @ 1920x1080?

PAWNSTAR.2437

Well i dont think anyone is feeling “the full experience” on max settings right across the board from pvp , wvw, pve, cough lions arch. And if they are i want their Overclocked computer. (only Lions arch lets me down)

But going to each map today I still get 60-120 fps avg 80 fps(rarely drops below 60+) on Maximum settings & 3D which everyone is getting on singular cards anyways, with no stuttering with camera view swinging around like crazy, I guess i just learn to repair and sell things in Lions arch at a lower fps lol.

35fps+ aint that bad to do trading and lfg

I would of attached videos of fluent movement through each map for proof but that would just take too long to upload.

Im hoping to play crysis 3 on Ultra with max msaa.

  • 1920 x1080 in 3D &
    * 2560 × 1600

Im having my doubts at the moment due to how much detail
is in that game from Videos i have seen already.
Linear & open world , few paths you can navigate through

I m a MSAA nut , if its not crispy as the back of the box advertised , I feel like im
not playing it how the game developers designed it.

And im totally sorry im spamming this thread, i will stop now. I honestly didnt even read the first comment, Yes Willis! That is very normal , turn down stuff to aid your playability & screen size doesnt effect fps, but resolution does.

“the bigger the resolution, the more gpu power it is to drive those little pixels”

Oh i get it now, well yes i totally agree there. Mind you its only lion’s arch map that destroys my comp at Ultra settings, all other maps would be 60 + , Are you saying OC CPUS to 4.5ghz will prevent spinning the camera in a crowded map eg lions arch will be fluent and not bring your fps to a grinding halt for a second or so?

I thought this thread was “Average FPS On Max Settings @ 1920×1080”

lol, almost like BF3 forums : Hey man i can play battlefield 3 on ULTRA settings at 200 Fps but i gotta turn down MSAA and the Resolution and im running a 60hz monitor.

Umm ok … oh geeze ummm. lets just say your Ultra settings isnt ultra settings and it became Custom settings and zomg facepalm !!
Would that play like Halo 2 with 500 FPS without Vsync Capped to 60?

as for supersampling or though not efficient as it could be , the difference between native and supersampling is like night and day

I just thought this game just needs optimisation, a couple of patches here and there etc etc and more SLI Grunt but yes my CPU is letting me down there

after all the latest game releases Hitman absolution, AC3, Far Cry 3 , Im starting to feel the burn as these games on ULTRA settings & Maxed MSAA are just over 60 + fps @ 1920×1080, when i was getting 80fps on Crysis 2 & BF3 @2560 x1600.
So im kinda worried about Crysis 3 as im a big fan of that series.

Ha ha , why thankyou Willis

Yeah Im pretty much done with the game for now, until an expansion comes out, levelled to 80 in 1 week (been about 2 weeks since i bought it) and grinding of gear wasnt my cup of tea due to +5 to +10 stats from Rare to Exotic

My friends got me into this game after i swore an oath never to play MMOs again after being a Vanilla WoW player (10 toons Max level) as it just felt like The Sims , cosmetics & efficiency, Kinda like Diablo III. But in saying that Luv luv Luv this game and well worth the $$.. cant wait for the next expansions

4 gig versions, these are the only things that
Ive experienced from 1 -80

This was after repairing Guild wars 2 & going from 310.70 – 310.90
so not sure if it was a patch or the driver

  • 1 Flashing tree in a whole map but i cant say i can go up to the same tree now and say it was still flashing.
  • Snow on a building flashing white
  • Oh and i m not going crazy cause i saw it on the forum & thought i was going crazy
sound cutting out in headphones & all you can hear is a siren / alarm going off

Still hasnt crashed since i stop using headsets been 3 days now

But everytime it has crashed on me, i have had headphones plugged in , Afterglow Wireless headset or my Logitech G35.

I havent had a crash since playing without headphones, which kinda sucks as i did use vent or team speak.

45 min ….. 60 avg …. 95 Max (outside , dungeons)
15 min ….. 35 avg …. 75 Max (lion arch) Spin your view & watch your comp die.
Stare at a tree, look at the sky or your feet for 180 fps

In my opinion you dont need 60fps consistant for a 3rd person as its not a totally fast reaction game like a first person shooter

Actually I havent tested out the 30" IPS panel for 2560 x1600 for guild wars 2 , maybe i should benchmark that one too

I play in 3D mode, Im not sure what everyone else is getting in terms of FPS as everyones got different graphic cards.

  • In general it should be half the amount of FPS you get normally, but in my case i get exactly the same amount of FPS in 3D as i get playing normally.
  • From level 1- 80 in 3D i have noticed cutscenes are not entirely perfect, im guessing shadows are rendered in correctly & some very rare graphic anomalies on the 310.90 eg tree flashing white. which you even get without 3D not sure if its the application or the driver there.
  • The game itself Is Awesome in 3D, if your computer can push out a consistant amount of frames. I would rate it 8/10
(Batman Arkham city is probably the best ive seen in 3D)
But from my experience all 3rd persons are the best in 3D
  • Mouse interaction , I would say is only affected when you play with your UI, Menu but ground control, clicking on mobs is fine.
  • As long as you play with depth & convergence and tweak it this game looks great.

Btw I do see graphical anomalies in the game like someone said eg 1 tree in a whole forrest. (very rare)

I think your graphics card is fine , i just think the game needs a bit of tweaking .

Im just not feeling the power of SLI like other games I have. But there is a bucket load of detail in GW2 that need to be rendered .

I Play the game on these settings

Resolution : Full Screen 1920 x1080
Refresh Rate : 120 Hz
Frame Limiter : Unlimited
3D Stereoscopic rendering : ON
Animation : High
Anti Aliasing : FXAA

Lions Arch : 25fps MIN, 50fps AVG, 80fps MAX
and thats moving around lions arch , not standing there staring at a wall.

Dungeons : 45fps MIN , 55fps AVG, 80+fps MAX

Im using current 310.90 WHQL drivers and stopped using headsets last night and have NOT had a crash since.

Some people say they get way over 100fps, Im guessing this game works better on a singular card??? But i highly doubt they have
“Let the 3D application decide” ticked in Nvidia Control panel and running crappy presets from the slider

Some days it would be good and last hours without crashing, some days it would crash every 5 minutes.
I play all other games without any problems on ULTRA , Max MSAA when i can and either 2560 × 1600 or 1920 x1080 120hz 3D with about 80-120 fps AVG

  • I notice Guild wars 2 does NOT like On Screen Displays ~ that prevents black screens

Repairing Guild Wars 2 ( That didnt do anything)
