Sigh… This thread is about the defensive gameplay of Necromancer as I clearly stated in my first post. Just like I mentioned that I could always go for the class which I feel is the “best”. I also mentioned that I have no knowledge about the expansion Necro. I don’t know about any of the other expansion characters either.

That is the exact reason why I wrote that this isn’t a thread about begging nonsense buffs. There is a reason for all changes in the gameplay mechanics. I’m merely sharing my experience of Necromancer gameplay during these years in WvW and bringing up a discussion of what other people feel about it. As I said, I don’t know about the expansion which I don’t have. Shambling Horror seems to be part of it. The Necromancer I’m playing with is completely useless when facing Necros with the expansion of GW2 in 1vs1. Also, I mentioned that Necromancer as a class is “special” enough so it needs to have a weakness, just like every class have some differences. If it was possible to create the same type of character from every class, having different classes would be pointless. But after spending some time in WvW, I see how rare Necros actually are. People don’t want to lose the duels. They want to escape when the situation is hopeless, and then attack and chase when its 5vs1 and so on. But I think there should be a tiny bit of hope, for any class to survive.

For now, it’s just no go for Necros if you want to survive. I play on a server which is not country/language based so no one cares about me. Also I don’t belong to any guild so people don’t care. I’m always left behind and dead with THIS CLASS. That’s a different thing if people don’t like me, but seems like Necromancer is meant only for people with friends.

Hey,

I have been playing mostly Necromancer during the last 3 years on/off which is my only level 80 character. (I don’t even have ascended armor/weapon yet). This is not a thread to beg for nonsense buffs or making the class generally better overall, as I could always choose the class which seems “op” generally in my opinion. I usually play WvW, and I have noticed that Necromancer doesn’t have nearly as much defense as other classes, especially without the new expansion which I don’t know about.

It’s not possible to be immune, invulnerable, block attacks, or even have stability except if you want to transform into almost useless Lich form or sacrifice a trait for short stability. Evading is the only reasonable way to defend yourself as Necro. To me it’s really hard to tell when someone is being invulnerable or immune, blocking usually has a clear visual effect though. Also, Necromancers have zero mobility so escaping isn’t an option either. While playing WvW and I am left alone, I have to use crowd control as much as possible and run around, and hope that someone comes to save me.

So, the point is that I think it would be reasonable that also Necromancers have an option to have ANYKIND of defense when they are surrounded by a bunch of players to increase the chances of getting away. For example having an extra endurance block for evading would be enough.

Otherwise this class is special enough with all the AoE, and thats why it has to be less defensive than other classes, but I think having zero defensive gameplay is the reason why people don’t usually want to play Necro in WvW for example. Most of the people go for classes which are better for 1vs1 situations.

Apparently it’s not downloading the patch at all on 64bit client.
