Basing that off the fact that my launcher switched from 0% to 1% downloaded at the 130 MB mark.
Hmm, same thing with me. Downloader bugged so it started downloading the whole game again?

And that with an abysmal d/l speed of 30KB/sec (normally I get 1Mb/sec.)

right after WvWvW reset. It will be interesting to see, wether everybody had the same issue or wether some were lucky and own the maps now…
Imo anet needs to think about issueing these patches off peak time and than just turn the content on.

Alt+F4 is no escape
Remove repair costs from WvWvW, Alt + F4 problem solved in a much better way.
The way indicated in the OP will solve an other problem though: No more wait times and half the amount of mappers, gatherers etc.
As a side effect: less < lvl 80 characters in WvWvW …and less new players trying out WvWvW.
I’m betting that the spawn points for ore will change like they do for the rest of the game, whenever they usually do that… during the next update. Sometime next week the rich ori will be in the water with the champion shark or something.
As for the other ori on the island there was a normal one at the bottom of the hive and one outside the entrance along the cliff wall to the left as you exit there. Not sure if those ones changed during the last patche(s) tho.
Normal one changed position at least two times already, while the rich one remained in place. Eg on our server there was a normal one in the other cave once.

If you got this far and are curious about the title of this post that’s how the Bait and Switch works when you advertise one thing and deliver something unexpected.

The key difference : in GW you never had to actually farm fow/uw to get obsidian armor. The materials weren’t bound. You could play/farm whatever /wherever you wanted and than simply buy the mats.
Only one visit in fow was needed to have the armor crafted.
GW2 was worse, because you had to run 1 dungeon over and over again, to get the most prestigious stuff.
That was okay, as long as it was just for a skin and there were lots of alternatives to get weapons with the same dmg/stats.
After last update all of that has gone. It is 1 dungeon only, to which you can’t even get a grp, unless you started with lvl1 the very moment it was released.
Last weekend I showed the guys i gave trial keys to around.
Result: no time for the new dungeon and now can’t find a grp for lvl 1…
GW sold seven million copies. That wasn’t enough it seems, NCsoft wants to sell even more of GW2. The most likely result: they will sell less.
I have spent several hundred euros from 2005 to 2012 on 2 accounts of GW, but after that last GW2 update, my wallet is closed for NCsoft/Nexon.
If I wanted a gear grinder with cash shop and gated content, I could just as well d/l one of the better clones for free…
Similarly mine is stuck at 193/200K in the first tier. Deathcount is zero, but the xp bar doesn’t move, even if I do a crafting binge in one session/zone.
I am no programer, but it can’t be that difficult to fix…
Simply install smthg like:
if deathcount = zero than transfer total character exp to liftetime survivor exp.

What they need to do is install something like the Zaishen bounties in GW1:
Today you can pick from a vista in Kessex, a poi in Straits, a skillpoint in Maelstrom, a DE in… a heart in…
And for all those you get a little amount of the same tokens you get in FotM.
(Don’t get me wrong, I hate the idea of having a gear spiral in a game that uses “Guild Wars” in it’s name, but i think the first step cant be rerolled and this way it would be softened up at least)
Rotating thru the existing content like in GW1, this would also ensure enough activity for late map completers, contested way points etc.
This, or any other system which adds replay value to the already existing content.

There are 3 reasons why the lost shore one time event failed:
1) overflow. The ones lucky with server hopping could open the end chest several times
2) timezones. The players in the Pacific area had no chance to participate
3) Players who like me have 2 accounts could not play with both of them.
,or have it start at diff times on diff servers.
doesn’t work, as long as server hopping is free. The “clever” players had switched servers after seeing the endloot.
Simple solution: Repeat the event several times over 24 hrs (or a weekend) but make it available once only per account
(because of the fat endloot)

There is one rich node in the Karka cave, guarded by a Champion and one more (normal) ori node, somewhere on the island.
As to the OP: I’d like that idea…if not the usual problems would arise: hard to do such an event offpeak. Even with such a reward as 15 ori ores (thats my avg), you hardly see enough players there .
As to champ tactics: don’t forget the hatchlings it spawns.
2/3 times getting that rich ori vein is just a dead run.
I think this ori node is one step towards softening up the grind for legendaries, and thus well within the announced roadmap.
They have not only discriminated players in the Oceanic timezone, but also those who like me are in Euro timezone and have 2 accounts.
They should have repeated the event every 3 hours but made it so, that one can participate once per account only.
Will this be WoW 3.0, only with more bugs and smaller major content patches?
A few years ago in GW we used to say: GW has changed the gaming scene so much that WoW 2 will be a GW clone…
One of the things I enjoyed about GW was that I could run several alts with maxed gear and it would never be outdated. I could take a break from the game, come back and just play every area of the game again, including the newly added ones, as if I had never left.
I had 2 accounts in GW and I bought 2 copies of GW2, too. I was expecting, their manifesto about no gear progression ever would again allow me to play with several alts.
Could I adjust to grind 3 pieces of gear for 1 character only now, and than the next three in December….? Maybe, but had I wanted to play like that, I could simply play one of those ftp and free to download gear grinders instead of buying GW2.
Heck, I could not even participate in the Lost Shores final event with both accounts, since they made it 1 time only.
the fun factor: go to LA, slightly north of the mystic forge. There is an asura explaining the LA latrine system to some other npc. "We dont have outhouses, we have water closets..." That Asura has Trahearne's voice...Such terrible voice acting.
Arguably the cheesiest lines in the game.Pretty much that. No match for the decent people like Tybalt or Rytlock etc.
So, whenever I am on a storyline mission with Trahearne, I have to think “we don’t have outhouses…”

I have crafted a character to lvl 29 (thats more than 200K exp in total)
Death count is still = 0, but so is lifetime survivor.
This problem was first described on September 2nd in the wiki comments…and untill today we don’t have an official answer.
I would like to know at least if this is a bug or if we simply missed something.
It’s getting annoying to have such a problem for 6 weeks now and no comment by arenanet.
1) is this a bug ?
2) if so, is anet working on it ?
3) if so, will we get the exp credited or do we have to restart ?

Not really.
monthly achievement kinda implies that it resets once per month and that one has a month to do the things required. One also expects it not to change during the month (unless it’s about an exploit)
The time to balance that achievement or to change it’s content would be the monthly reset…and not an update a day later.
I completed the 100K exp yesterday already.
Fine by me if they want to add a new event, but why should that be in the regular monthly ? And why does it have to cancel something I already earned ?
I suggest they fix the monthly achievement and use an extra reward for that event.
On top of that: the lifetime survivor bug is still not fixed…

bugged for me, too. I started a character, took care it didn’t die and than raised to lvl 29 with crafting only. Yet, there is no progress on the lifetime survivor.
