1. Pull the Lich inside the house and stack there to avoid aggroing most of his spawned mobs.
I notice people don’t seem to realize something: The mobs that spawn don’t spawn on one static position. They spawn on players. So you’re not just avoiding “aggroing” them (they’ll attack you anyways), you’re actually trying to get them to spawn in the same spot so you can cleave them all easily, or AoE nuke them to death!
That’s why you still have some mobs spawn in weird places away from everyone, when you have ranged players attacking, well, from range.
And Lich is totally doable with 15-20 people. Buff strip out the kitten , pack stun breaks for his fear, water fields and heals, and stay tight on the Lich for the mob spawns.
Done. =3

And, while tempting to blame stomping a quaggan, it’s important to remember that correlation is not causation.
Thank you, Duckideva. I for one needed that. So I also know that Anet has said they’re working on it, but what exactly can they do in response? And that IPViking is just trippy
It is, been watching it for the better part of the afternoon, and some massive attacks that happened coincided with times that my friends started dropping like flies off the server.
Now, of course not every single person is being affected—you have your anomalies and people that are getting lucky by not being on a “pipeline” being affected (in layman’s terms). Kudos to them.
As for the people that ARE being affected, well. ANet is working on figuring out a solution/defense/how to get it to stop, but I think it’ll take some time, as they’re not the only ones being affected by these spikes. They have to contact outside people and their service providers, get them on board and figure out a solution with them. So they have to wait a little like we do in some aspects.
Generally sucks all around.

The tiger has also seen the Eternal Alchemy.
(Unfortunately, most of the kitties are too small to be seen in the second shot.)
You sir, I am borrowing that second picture for many, many tags in my future, lol! It had me rolling!

I’m not a Commander on DB by any means, but I do have experience in getting through to players.
You’re going to have to be willing to keep repeating yourself constantly and in different ways. If you want players to read you, understand that map/squad/say chat breeze by fast. Understand the fade timer for the chat window and understand that there are going to be butt-headed players that do not want to listen.
As soon as you understand and accept that, people will start listening to you. The best chat to use, unfortunately, is Map Chat. Just stick to that unless you have to say something to your local lane. Everyone can see it, so don’t bother having to switch chats often, cut your work down some.
Also, it helps if you spam links to any guides you think will help your players on a regular basis. It’s how I did it on Dragonbrand when I wrote my initial guide to Marionette for us in the first hour of release. Anyone who’s guested over to do Mari with us knows about it, I think.
Remember, different people enjoy different things. The people you see in WvW are only but a small fraction of your server’s population usually. Marionette draws everyone’s attention, not just those you WvW with. So just understand that yes, if something isn’t part of their daily business (knowing Commander’s shortcuts) then they’re not obligated to make it their business. Marionette is where they’re finally learning about that, that’s excellent! We’re no one to judge how others decide to play a game if they enjoy it, so long as it’s not severely detrimental to other’s experiences.
A lot of patience will be required, but don’t hang on to things, remember to breathe, and you’ll be fine.

On Dragonbrand we’ve been enjoying Marionette way more than Wurm. To the non-believers that think getting pubs together for Marionette isn’t possible or feasible or desirable, I can understand where you’re coming from, but when we wrote our guide for our server and started pub-stomping her (I exaggerate, but we’re getting her downed on a 1/2 or 1/3 tries now), none of those involved were from the same guild, not to mention that we didn’t even know each other before then really.
That being said, my question to any admin that might read this is:
From Day 1 until yesterday, I was receiving the Bonus Boxes on the bottom right hand corner of my screen as usual (they’re named Warden 1-5 based on how far your attempts get, granted). Today, just now actually, we beat her again… and I wasn’t getting any boxes any more.
I’ll add that I’ve run/driven pubs for Marionette about 36 times since release now and I would love to keep doing it to help the new players that weren’t off of work last week/have kids/deal with life and haven’t had time until now to fight Marionette. But my motivation to do so is shot if I’m not getting anything out of it.
Is this on purpose?
And while I still have your attention, the teleporting Twisted Nightmare Champs in Lane 5 (northernmost champion). They’re so much of a thing that I included them in my guide for the Marionette on DB. I really hope that’s not intentional/can be fixed.

Oy, for the Staff, I’m surprised no one surprised that “Phase Retreat” has a chance of teleporting you into walls/objects, and even outside of the map. if you’re standing close to stones and water, even shallow. I swam around underneath the map once without being able to get out from underneath ANet’s lovely rock models.

I liked what it used to do in the first beta: it was a leap that left a clone in your prior position, and the turn-over ability permitted you to swap places with said clone—an amazing gap closer, imo. Also a way to kitten with people a little bit if they didn’t know what to expect (no, the clone wasn’t stationary, it did also run in when summoned).
If you guys had been able to see that skill as it first, FIRST was revealed, I think you’d be even more disappointed with the sword. =/

Hmm… I’m perhaps the only one about to go off on a random tangent completely unrelated to the current topic at hand…
But. If the guide that I haven’t seen yet is as good as you all say it is… and the gentleman who developed it happens to go by Mr. Prometheus on the forums…
Has no one else found his name to be very fitting?
Prometheus (in Greek mythology), being the wisest titan, was charged with making man, and then does the forbidden and gives man fire on top of that, then gets punished for it.
He is giving fire to you all, use it for good! (If the videos are that good, as again, I haven’t watched them.)(Also, Mesmers have torches. o.o)
TL;DR: Prometheus is a fitting name if he’s sharing fire with us mere mortals.
I predict he gets a job at ANet. Unfortunately, the success of GW2 makes ANet “go corporate” and MrPrometheus just can’t keep up with the times. Despite his best attempts to keep the game true to it’s roots and all the classes too, as well as effectively communicate with us what’s going on, it all fails. In the end, he gets word of something big that will negatively impact the community and shares it with us. As a result he gets fired and blacklisted from the industry.
LOL MYTHOLOGY
I see what you did there… well done, good sir. B]

The people munching you on using CArmor before Retreat while you’re still in CStorm are right on that point.
Retreat is a leap combo finisher—using it while still in CStorm will grant you a free CArmor without having to hit 4 yet. >_>

Really should somehow selectively shatter your illusions.. the phantasms aren’t worth shattering most of the time and the clones don’t contribute anything when they’re not taking hits for you.. =\
That’s where the player is challenged to time the shatters appropriately. I usually summon a full set of clones and reposition myself before shattering them and summoning my iWarlock, switching to GS and summoning the phantasm on 4, iBeserker. Knockback, 2, then pull off decoy and start over again.
You’ll want to avoid summoning Phantasms if you’re going to shred very soon. Always try to save them for right after you shred a first set.
That’s my suggestion anyhow.
