I would say better late than never, but personally this feature is essentially useless to me and comes as a big disappointment considering what we were led to believe by ANet.
I’m in Europe, play on a NA server so I can group with my guildies but would really like to be able to play Euro servers in my evenings. After the great system in GW1 (yes, I know, network architecture is completely different), this feels like a massive letdown.
We were promised guesting as one of the main selling points of the game, which was then, for whatever reason, put on to the backburner and didn’t have the resources put in to developing it the way it was sold to us. Regardless of the process behind the scenes (and I’m sure the developers involved have worked hard on it), it really feels like we’ve been giving short shrift here. Please find a way to make it happen.
im in the same position wasted my time for nothin because the servers couldnt cope, DC’d and got nothing. its this sort of thing that makers people quit these games.
+1, same happened to me. So annoyed at having my time completely wasted.
I loved Guild Wars 1, I have a great group of friends that I play with but actually so annoyed with all the bugs and failures in this event that for the first time, I am seriously considering shelving this game completely.
Can we get some official clarification about this? As one of the many people who missed out on chest due to disconnection, I would still be willing to sit through that boring lead up quest if it was running again
Just to say, disconnected just before end of event, couldn’t get logged back in for more than hour – wasted all that time on lead up events and got nothing to show for it except immense frustration.
Really really disappointing. It’s not even the lack of loot, it’s the wasting of my time that irks me the most.
Same happened to me, for over an hour was getting message about login server being unavailable. Wondered if it was my connection, so asked a trusted friend to try login to my account – they couldn’t get in to mine, but could get into their own fine. Have finally got back in now, more than 2 hours later. When I tried to login to the forums to report here before, I got an error message saying my account details were invalid.
I should add that this has happened to me once before, at Halloween. Took a few hours to get fixed then too.
Apparently this is a server side issue, where the game doesn’t seem to recognise that you have being DCed, possibly because their servers are being hammered. It’s very annoying, meant I missed the chest at the end of the karka event and I’m wasting hours trying to get logged back in.
I’m wondering the same but the official FAQ does have some answers but what it doesn’t include is server population vs invited friends ie can we be assured to have friends we invite on the same server we are on?
For those who were experiencing problems loading the ‘sell’ tab in the Trading Post, we think we’ve fixed the problem. Please close and re-open your game client, then try going to the sell tab.
Please report back here if it doesn’t work for you.
Note: if you weren’t able access any of the tabs in the trading post, you likely still won’t be able to.
