Guild Wars 2

Hi All,

Just wondering if anyone has a solution to this recent problem that has started to plague me.

Since about 3 weeks ago each time I start up Guild wars 2, the loader goes through the motions of downloading updates but at the end displays the messages Connection Error(s) detected retrying… On the rare occasion the game has updated successfully and started. I can surf the net and start other games/services that require an net connection such as Steam, GFWL and all of the other MMOs I have installed.

I’m running the game on Windows Vista.

Any help would be great.

So my guild is transfering servers before the upcoming deadline and I wanted an answer to the following question. Does everything in my Characters bags and bank vault transfer with me if I decide to move?

I had not finished giving them a first chance as yet due to work etc. I won’t be doing dungeons to grind for gear. I will just finish of the world with one character and if by that point it looks like you will need to treadmill to stay current then I shall most likely stop or go PvP if that improves. For me the next 3 months are a truer guide to the future. If I was to take a guess I would say I can’t see myself playing the game anywhere close to GW1 just feels to generic in may respects. Apart from the no subs it feels like it’s on the slow slide into the pot with Conan/Warhammer/Lotro Etc

I still would like to take something positive away with me but as yet have found nothing

Is it only me, or is Chris an extremly slow chatter?! I mean, if this would be a conversation it would be over after 5 minutes, concerning the answers he has given so far in over 1 hour.

I am sure he is not alone in this. each question is chosen, the answer carefully crafted, and then delivered. This takes time.

Sure there are a room of PR people round him discussing the answer then getting the approval of Nexon : ) Oh no I went there.

We do not intend to deploy another tier/rarity of loot such as Rare>Exotic. However we also do not intend to make promises that can be misinterpreted moving forward.

So no more gear grind but we can’t say there won’t be more gear grind just in case we change our mind

Mistake me if i’m wrong, but doesn’t legendary weapon’s have the same stat/damage value as exotic’s? And if so how is bringing out another tier of gear gonna help? Won’t the same people that say there is nothing to do say the same thing after getting all the new gear?

As far as I know Legendary weapons will be increased in strength so that ascended fits in between them and exotic.

Shocking amount of time being taken between answers only for most of them to be generic PR replies.

In may ways lightbringer was an update on having to fight your doppelganger and ascend to fight the Murrusat in the Ring of fire and beyond. It was a game mechanic built into the game and therefore needed very little to no grind.

I thought the valve Nexon rumor was well known. Gabe newell even made a statement about it somewhere. I believe he said it would never happen which in business speak could be the truth or were working out my package. You never can tell Can’t find it at moment but I did find these.

See this is looking more like a Jay Leno interview than anything substantive. By letting them see the questions this far in advance they will have a team of PR people working the answers and him over till they get company friendly results. Seriously there will be a bit of hand wringing and grimacing to play up to the fact the understand the players plight and show there sorry during the 1 or 2 semi tough questions you have picket but it will be a farce. Believe me I see interviews handled day in day out. You do not show your hand no matter how relaxed the chat.

I just hope the AMA Q&A is not just a PR exercise with a fixed set of questions that avoid the issues. That’s my worry there. But again Monday will tell and I aint going to lose sleep over it as in the end it doesn’t really matter.

I’ve been gaming since Dos as well. AH what fun that was to get a game running in the early days. It’s true that it is to early to judge the long term outlook for the future of GW2 but most people project an image of that perceived future from the information and current games climate. For each individual it will vary greatly from the end of the world to the best thing since sliced bread. From my own point of view I will give them time but the direction looks as if it’s off from where I believed it was going. As for the state of the forums. Every forum suffers such rage outs if you will. In the heat of the moment some say things they would otherwise hopefully not, but it’s a forum and I’ve never been to a forum yet that didn’t resemble these ones at one time or another. I try not to take to much from them at least they are not the LOL forums with it’s lack of regulation and anything goes nature.

With Gw2 you set out to make the game more inclusive. With this in mind you abandonded the long standing tenant of the Holy Trinity so that there would be no worry of any player being excluded or barred from any given situation. Correct? Do you not feel with the inclusion of the new dungeon and its increasing level requirments you have once more reintroduced such a barrier and created a multi tiered community, In effect you have reintroduced a form of the holy trinity?

Playing less for two reasons at moment. One game related one not. My pc is down due to PSU failure. The game related one is as follows and something I have stated before. Reach the last mission with my Warrior and have no one to do it with as everyone is off in dungeons or running around in zerg formation doing events in Arah. I’ve sadly hit a brick wall I as a player cannot overcome. : (

Haven’t recieved it at all. Maybe it’s a phase release to better collate the date?

When should we expect to see substantive improvements to the games stability?

Will we revisit the lands of Cantha and Elona in subsequent releases?

As 14.7% major shareholder in NCsoft how much influence does Nexon have on the direction of Guild Wars 2?

This may not be the place to tar and feather A-net this is true but neither should it be a Leno type interview with simplistic and easy to answer questions. I look to the relationship that the Eve Online community have with their devs. The difficult questions are faced and answered. Mistakes are admitted and compromise made.

Gw1 did that not have a strong PvP e-sports scene for a long time?

Come on you introduce new gear you introduce the crafting of it at the same time. Surely it’s not rocket science.

GW1 PvP was varied and great fun in my opinion. What we have in GW2 lacks any need for real skill and has no depth. It’s basically dumbed down. The one game mode at the moment is by far the weakest they could have chosen.

Here are the bullet points to discuss.

Revamping all of our existing dungeons (Story and Explorable versions) through rebalance and overhauled encounters.

Adding new dungeons to the Fractal of the Mists.

Adding more variation to creatures, enhancing our open world scaling system, as well as evolving many events and experiences across Tyria.

Fixing and improving existing content throughout the game, and better tying it into the overall sense of player progression within Guild Wars 2.

Building on the Southsun Cove’s persistent content.

Adding new Guild content and Guild progression features.

Adding brand new content to World vs. World as well as adding new reward progression.

Continuing to build upon the story and adventures of Guild Wars 2.

I have reached a similar situation with my level 80 warrior on Gunners Hold. I have reached the last mission to kill the dragon but no one to do mission with. Anyone who is or was about last time I played is either doing Grenth event or the gates of Arah event chain. No one will help guild included as they are doing the new dungeon. So were does this leave me and others with trying to complete the game? AH for the days of Henchmen and Heroes. Tried it solo it doesn’t seem to scale to 1 person. Level 80’s inside feel like vets on the outside.

I do enjoy a bit of both. I find it very solo friendly. What I don’t find the game to be is as community friendly as GW1 in many respects. (Just my opinion) . I have found leveling my second Character that once you get to the final story mission there is absolutely no one doing said mission and I there for cannot complete the game on this character. I see that as a major drawback to leveling up any more character, therefore bringing my time in GW2 closer to an end than I had thought. Reaching my 2000+ hours in GW1 Looks unlikely.

There is a solution, search for the Local.dat file and rename it to anything. its in documents probably. NOTE: make sure you remember your info (user and pass) and custom modifications because youll have to do them again.

As much as I would love to I hate messing around with files partaining to the game due to past experience. Surely this is an easy fix from the devs side of things. My worry is that even after the event this issue persists. Then I might take you up on your advise.

Dear god no. If the past 24 hours are what is to come then Dear God NO! Unplayable would be my word of choice. Sorry but as some one said in another thread. In concept and scope it was excellent. In excecution it was fatally flawed.

Since the latest update yesterday the game has become completely unstable for me. It was actually reasonable ok before I set out for work at 1pm GMT. Had played for hour with a one or two EXE crashes to desktop. I return home, fire up my machine at 00.30 GMT and go to Lion’s Arch and within the space of 30 minutes the EXE has crashed to desktop 15 times. I can get maybe one or two minutes of play then the game just falls over. It really has become pointless. All of this only began yesterday after update.
Nothing has changed at my end same computer, same drivers, same everything. In the 250/300 Hours put in to the game it’s been stable but for a recurring problem when going through gates after a few hours play. Nothing I couldn’t handle. This on the other hand is a deal breaker. Turns the Fun into a chore.

They could easily fix this in game with a little bit of work. Take all keys out of the game as random drops and replace them with lockpicks. Lockpicks would be programmed to give you the current drop ratio/reward which I think all agree is poor. Keys would only be available from the store and when used would give a far higher drop ratio of skins/exotics/uniques/ectos etc or anything worth the expensive out lay on these over priced keys. just my thoughts. It wouldn’t be pay to win as anyone can buy keys with gold converted to gems. Everyone has the option to buy them.
