So, you basically want a special skin that everyone would have?
For all the people who complain about the rarity of the item there are people that would complain just as much if everyone was running around with their rare skins.
I dont think you grasped the full meaning behind his article. GEMS PAID FOR FROM REAL $CASH for the gem chests should yeild HIGHER drop percentage since most people Pay real cash for gems right at the starte of a festival. Seriously anet, thats messed up and I COMPLETELY agree that the gem store bought chests need to have higher incentives and drop rate for rarer things such as skins and other festive things we try to get. Its BS its even come this far, how many festivals has it been now? I refuse to buy gems now because of this little fact. Theres no point, the gem store chests are such a rip off (SCAM)!!!! Seriously, dont buy them.
I think it would be nice to see a Parachute as a back piece come out on the gem store that can slow your descent from falling from high places in the game that opens up apon falling from a certain hight which would normaly lead to death.

Leap down from tall places to escape having to run thru mobs.
I would hope they’d eventually include some sort of glider and possibly an underwater faster swimming apparatus as well!
I do to, but It wouldnt be fair if the chute was a glider chute. As you would be able to leap large canyons or there could be players who would find a way to exploit it. “IF” they ever did develope a chute that slowed your fall just enough from being killed it should just make you fall straite down in 1 dirrection and unguidable. Also possibly functioning as a “I surrender ability” and give a player invulnerablility. As far as the faster swimming ability aperatus, theres alrdy a Buff you can purchase in the Gem store now that allows you to swim faster I believe. But anythings possible. Again these are just ideas and not official. Its great to throw ideas around and read differant opinions and ideas in the mix. Im thankfull we have good comments and im happy this thread generates a positive responce!

im so discusted with dragon loot dropping blue crap all the time. Ive gotten blue drops from the chest 5 times in a row and 1 green. This needs to stop, for how long it takes, and the amount of times most people die during the events it should be profitable in some way. The new gold loot once a day is a nice bonus but still, the chest shouldnt drop anything less than green loot. Specialy WVW World Bosses, those need nerfed soo hardcore like yesterday. No one even does them anymore cuz the loot is so crap.

The comical “opens after you fall to your death” chute sounds awesome! I would buy that! But real automatically-working chutes as part of your everyday armor will lead to more “I want a flying mount!” threads.

It would not be very easy to use in combat, as you would have to open your inventory and double-click the consumable item to change your skill bar. You would then have to click the appropriate skill on your skill bar to deploy the chute. But it could be very cool for PLANNED down-jumps like getting into the Troll’s End jumping puzzle entrance. A moderate amount of “steering” would be permitted since you can change directions in midair when you jump normally.
You make a good point with the re-equiping of the item in situations where you know ur gona bail off the edge of an enormous cliff. But id wear mine all the time lol. I love jumping off cliffs, its just so fun thanks to fall reduct. I came up with the idea cuz I wanna jump off higher cliffs. I would pay for gems if anet came out with something like that lol. Being able to just take a short cut to a supply camp near Cliffside in wvw instead of just running around and taking the long way, why not just jump off the cliff all the way down lol.
Also, I read that “I want a flying mount!” article and its just a bad BAD idea. Anet would literely have to redesign the mechanics of the intire game, not to mention the terain, background and ambient scenery which when viewed from above in some maps reveal a layer of blank terain and sculptured mountain peaks. The mechanics alrdy exsist i believe, falling rate in the games mechanics. Im sure theres some mechanism that they can change, if the chute were workable & can slow your descent.

A bank slot that can hold 10,000 in 1 slot. 250 for a stack is just soo rediculously to low of a number. Its just like in gw1, and even then 250 was still anoying cuz you had your intire inventory full of material stacks cuz no one would buy your crap.
When I kill a skritt… he doesn’t end up defeated. I see his lifeless form laying upon the ground and shortly after dissolving into it like all the others before him. If only he’d give up his shinies so that I could have stayed my blade… but no, my greed must be satisfied, through blood if need be!
The point I’m demonstrating here is that I don’t think that holds true for all NPCs… although I kind of like it the way it is.

So remove most of the purpose of a fall dmg reduction trait? and as a gem store item would result in a gem store item providing a significant advantage? o.O
Two things:
1) Ever heard about something called a “cooldown”? The parachute would only be usable once in a while.
2) It would of course be forbidden of use in PvP and WvW.What if the Parachute would cost quite a lot. And players would use it to go directly from hills into enemy castles? That would spice things up.
I invisioned a parachute that would just allow you to fall straite down. Not a glider chute. Just a regular plain infantry circular chute that catches you as you fall straite down.
HAHAH oh man I had the funniest image pop in my head, just the way you explained the failed parachute. Like in Road Runner. Even if the chute had animation, and didnt actualy work it would still be hilarious. Or a chute with holes in it that deployed with a huge commical bandaid lol. I could see that, very funny.
The idea you had with a cool down use would be practicle id imagine to. And also It would have to be restricted to certain areas like JPs, and possibly wvw. Theres not many places you can jump even in wvw that you can die from with fall reduction. But SM, and Hills are some spots. Usualy you get the odd fella that falls messin around up top.
Id just really love aviation, and I would love to see a holiday in gw2 marking the aniversery of its historic first flight. I used to work on the E-2C Hawkeye as a structural mechanic for the US Navy so its pretty important to me. With a game so rich in detail and a story line that goes back 1000s of yrs you would think, now that gw2 has modern equipment it would have some detail talking about it progression in technology, aside from asuran. We celebrate holidays like that as well, even after 100 yrs have passed we still recignize the aniversery of the first flight.
Fall reduct only goes so far, im not talking about falls from average hights, if you read the post previously it says FALLS from hights that would result in death. That counts for fall reduct as well such as “Shattered Hills” Dont you like the idea of a parachute for a back piece that actualy functions? Come on someones gotta think that sounds fun?
I dont see how falling and slowing your descent as a advantage as any other player with the same back can fallow you. Its merely an idea for a fun new creative aspect. The reason I posted this in Suggestions. Or just make a back piece that looks like a parachute with no functionality. Ive heard alot of good comments on the idea and was recommended to bring the idea here or I wouldnt have done so in the first place. Theres to many trolls on here and Id rather avoid the drama unless I think its worth a shot. But ty for your input, its appreciated.
Oh ya, maybe Anet could includ a historic festival as well and include the parachute in the festival as a aniversery to Guild Wars first flight. I know theres aviation in gw2 such as the helicopters in Orr and a wierd looking hover craft in Iron Marshes and the Blimp sized ships as well. But theres very little information mentioned on its past in aviation. I would consider aviation monumental as a society and there should be some type of history to it. This could open a deversity in potential new types of gear, background, and for new story content. I think it is a great idea and ive shared it with many players and most agree it would invite more content plus possible minis.

Theres aviation glasses, and a aviation cap with goggles along with boots I believe. It would match great if you guys developed a back that looked just like a parachute to match, that actualy functions like a real chute. Something along the lines of a WWII parachute harness that would match the cap and goggles era style. Something that you can wear in battle as well and bail from a high place like Shattering Hills in wvw. I think that would be so fun lol.

I want to make a comment in regards to the chat filter. Ive been doing alot of digging and research on the subject and I just happen to know for a fact that Arena.net and Ncsoft have purposely developed the chat filter system to allow people to foolishly fall victom to their TOS and ban them. Its a way for them to make money and my source comes right from the horses mouth. A family who has partial ownership over arena.net. It can be considered a conpsiracy if you want to call it that but its fact that ncsoft perma bans peoples accounts over repeated offences. The chat filter is the most useless tool available to Gw2 Players since it only works 1 way. Im pretty angry over this fact and have asked for help with several outside well connected anet sources on the subject but responces have been very quiet on this topic. My guess is they want to keep it quiet and dont want people knowing. The fact theres no contract you sign when you manualy remove and unlock the chat filter is evidence enough that anet allows people to use vulger language. If your going to have a filter it needs to work both ways. And removing the filter should acknowledge that you are willfully signing an agreement that you infact wish to view vulger language and also to use it as well. If you remove the chat filter you shouldnt have the right to report vulger language in the first place, reducing the amount of reports for GMs to sort through. Ultimatly what it comes down to is $ money. GMs need tickets for their daily quota, so they go home feed their Kids and family. Have a nice cushy job and earn a descent income. But the fact that ncsoft refuses to acknowledge these details and my sources is proof enough. Its a cycle of corruption that has infested even the lead GMs of ncsoft.
Its sad, for a game that has half naked women that can strip down nearly naked, and weapons and art that reveal the most intimate parts of a woman ncsoft has declared its still just a game for younger teens. This is just insane. If Anet isnt willing to make the filter work both ways then its just showing that the cycle of corruption will continue on and on.
Shooting down this idea is a bad call just based on the idea that people can misuse it. Its a sound idea and has potential. The fact that Anet came up with the same idea in gw1 gives the impression it worked then and it can work now. Sure there were players who misused it in gw1 and players were prevented to play the next fiew matchs in PVP but theres a clear and presant issue with new players or players who dont want to learn. Players who refuse to be apart of the server but want to do their own thing and just sabatage what ever they can because they are in a bad mood.
Being able to stop a player from taking supplys when its critical to keep them is a nessesity and its needed. Ive seen to many instances where supplys were sapped due to people porting into a keep, wiping the supplys and losing it because we were contested and no one wanted to run from a camp or tower with supplys. People are lazy and dont want to do the things that are nessicary.
I strongly feel even tho it has potential misuse, the same with all MMO’s can have a positive and negitive impact. I think the positive outwieghs the possible negitives. Im sure theres people who abuse the current reporting system all the time but theres ways around that. Anet has measures for restricting to many reports as well on 1 character from what ive heard.
The simple fact that we have pugs who dont know any better, you tell them you shouldn’t take supplys is enough. Problem solved, but im talking about people who purposely sabatage towers or keeps. People who transfer from server to server in the hopes of wrecking another servers efforts. Ive seen this many times, siege capping, using every supply in a keep just before a 10-20 Golem raid. Building 40 Rams on the walls, or 20 Balistas in a spot they cant hit anything. This is why we need this abillity to lock someones MISUSE of supplys. Anyone should be able to report someone whos been spotted doign this and would take more than just 1 vote. 5-10 I think would be fair. Depending on the current map population. I would even go as far as restricting the supply by the Guild who claimed the keep or tower and give them special privlages to halt supply use if theres an emergancy shortage from players constantly draining the supplys. Im sure there are situations where it is needed to use all the supplys to save the tower or keep but these are rare. In most cases the supplys are needlessly drained due to laziness.
Hi there. Ive come up with an idea to keep troublesome players who refuse to listen to chat and take supplys from towers and keeps after repeated requests to stop and refuse to do so.
As you know if you played Guild Wars 1 in PVP matches a player would recieve a buff or condition on his character for a duraction of time after being reported by other players more than once in a match and it would prevent you from further joining a PVP match for a short time. This effect would wear off and you would be allowed to resume another match.
The idea Ive had is very similar in regards to a player being reported in WVW. In this case tho it would be a report for stealing supplys when youve been asked not to in PM, Say, or map chat. Ignoring or blocking players who ask nicely has been an issue for some time now. I think that if a player is reported enough times for Stealing supplys from a Tower or Keep it should give the player a buff that will prevent him or her from taking any supplys for an intire day from anything other than Supply Camps. A 24 hr buff that will expire and has no impact on your game account ticket or TOS system. Same way as Spam filter, it prevents you from speaking again for a short duration but with no buff. Or What ever it is Anet can come up with to help this type of situation.
This system would help good honest players tremendously in holding towers or keeps. Fallowing commands from team leaders or Commanders on the field is crucial and supplys are vital to the success of every battle. People who exploit this and rudely disobey or plain disregard out of spite or shear differance in opinion can ruin the fun or success of an intire battle. Ultimatly losing a keep or tower. Players need to have more control over the how supplys are used and people just wasting supplys on keeps outer wall thats being trebbed by 5 Trebs when they need supplys for an inner wall and our guys have siege layed down that will expire any minute becuase theres not enough supplys to finish them. This is just insane and needs to stop
