The problem isnt really that farming for items is a pain, its that farming for cloth and leather specifically is much more of a pain than farming for other analogue materials like ores and lumber.

See i’ve never understood why GW2 players are like this, every thread you go with this discussion you hear the same answers from longtime players.

Every method of gathering cloth and leather is also valid for all the other basic crafting materials you need, the reason why people don’t open bags on a level 1 character to gather copper ore is because there’s a much more convenient way to get that material.

I don’t see how it makes sense that i can just zone out for half an hour to gather what i need for weaponcrafting but if i want to level my tailoring i need to go through a nonsensical hassle of gathering bags with my high level characters, if i even have a high level character at the time, transfer all the bags to another character and then open them to salvage the materials.

I completely agree with the original poster, I’ve just started playing the game and i have three characters, on is level 11 one is level 8 and one is 7.
I’ve been salvaging every piece of gear I found and I’d noted that leather for leathercrafting might become a problem but i just naturally assumed that the amount of materials used in leatherworking would be low to compensate for that fact.
As it stands I can craft three rawhide leather packs before I run out. Now that takes a fair amount of leather to craft but I could also craft 7 of the armorsmithing bags, and I’ve actually been using my bronze to craft weapons too.

Now, I get that I can just buy more leather on the market but personally I’d much rather just gather it, I like playing the game, and they should be finding ways to get me to spend more time playing it, not forcing me into taking the market shortcut.
