I didn’t really read the post but are you crazy? The last thing I want is a place for Tom Cruise or R. Kelly to hide out while I’m playing Guild Wars. I check my closet every night before I go to bed and I don’t want to have to worry about checking my closet in GW2 before going to bed too! It’s a 100% increase in work I have to do and I will not stand for it.

#boycottthecloset

(actually it’s a good idea something a long time coming. We have our PvP locker, why not something similar for PvE)

How is Anet allocating teams?

Unless you have money in the business – they DON’T have to tell you anything (and even if you do, they still don’t have to tell you anything). It is more of the ‘I am ENTITLED’ to this information because I am a player. Sorry no.

So, you want to feel good about this game. Having this information gives you nothing towards that (see my ‘ENTITLED’ comment above).

I mean, GM, Ford, Toyota, etc. don’t tell you how many people are involved with the design and engineering of a new car. The same can be said for here.

Microsft doesn’t tell you how many people are involved with the production of the Xbox one. Why would you need to know to own one? Does it make you feel any better/

Not trolling, I just don’t see why this information is important for other than complaining?

Im not sure I understand. If I want to know how many in toyota whos working on making cars “greener”, and Im not satisfied with the answer, I dont buy a toyota.
What do entitlement have to do with it?

Because he said it would ‘ADD’ to his happiness in game – that is ENTITLEMENT pure and simple. Does that mean if he doesn’t get it he won’t be happy? No it means that HIS IDEA of how A.Net should be developing the game is right – that is the classic definition of entitlement.

Entitlement. You keep using that word, I do not think it means what you think it means.

en·ti·tle·ment
noun \-?t?-t?l-m?nt\

: the condition of having a right to have, do, or get something

: the feeling or belief that you deserve to be given something (such as special privileges)

: a type of financial help provided by the government for members of a particular group

Let’s look at the bolded – he wants to know so he can be happy in game? What has one to do with the other unless he has an opinion and wants it verified – that is the classic definition of entitlement.

Nobody but A.Net, NCSoft needs to know this information, his wanting to know it is an entitlement attitude – I play this game so I need to know how A.Net is doing this – that is classic……

How so though? There is no entitlement there because if her questions were answered by A-net it would be public information. There would be no special privilege or treatment gained. I think you have a very vague understanding of entitlement and are misinterpreting the definitions to suit your argument.

It is not our business to know how A.Net allocates their teams of developers.

Why do we need to know this?

Because I want to know if the things I love doing the most have anyone working on them at all. I was super excited when the Aether path came out! And I was really hoping that there would be an armor set associated with it. I’m okay if it takes a long time for something to come out – I want the devs to feel like they got it just right and I want to feel like even if I don’t agree with them that they gave it their best. I’ll probably keep running the old dungeons/JPS/exploring old areas, but this is some of the stuff I love most about this game.

Curious minds want to know. I think it’s as simple as that.
Sure, A.net doesn’t need to give anyone an answer, but players and journalists are well within their right to ask questions about this kind of thing because we’re simply curious. I don’t see why you misconstrue curiosity as entitlement, some of us are just very interested in the “inside baseball” of game development and want to ask questions related to that.

I didn’t read any hostility or presumptions from Allaraina’s question so it didn’t seem like there was any complaint angle to the question. I think you may just be assuming the worst and being overly defensive of A.net. Let me ask you, do you have any money or stake in this?

I’ll openly admit that I have no stake in either, just genuine curiosity. Both about the games industry and the sociology of internet forums. The latter means I am really curious about your rush to defend a huge development studio as if they needed defending. Any insight would help.

I still think you’re reading too much into her post and I think you’re over-sensitive to entitlement. It is not entitled to ask a question especially when they’re fairly neutral questions. Allaraina doesn’t even mention her happiness, just opinions on what she enjoys in the game. The questions were asked in a very eloquent and polite manner. She didn’t ask a loaded question like “Is this why the game has fallen to kitten recently?”

She does not demonstrate any sense that she demands an answer and the questions are pretty open ended, so much so that one of your peers was able to provide a sufficient enough answer. They were questions based on a statement made in the past by a.net regarding development, so I am at a loss as to how you somehow got an air of entitlement from that post.

That said I don’t mean to jump to her defence specifically, she can definitely defend herself, I am just curious what leads you to those particular conclusions and how your definition of entitlement varies greatly from the commonly accepted definition. (see: http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/entitlement) It looks to me like this has nothing to do with rights or privilege in any meaningful way, just knowledge about where the game is headed without any expectation of an answer.
