I had 41 of em saved up thinking I might want to make the legendary staff. Gave up on that so I opened all of them. 8 rares out of the bunch. With a white and abyss dye. I was happy happy happy. Sold them all. Put 16 gold in the bank and bought another 41. Opened those and got another abyss. Sold that and thought not to keep pushing my luck.

Is there a chest in cursed shore that is guaranteed to give a rare? I thought I heard someone say there was but I can’t see to find it.

How are you getting 300% anyway? I’ve got full exo MF gear with the luck sigil, 5 pirate runes, 1 noble rune, the ascended neck with the 20% infusion…and even still couldn’t reach 300% even with food and the booster. Regardless I’ve been using MF often since launch and I’ve noticed after many months now that I don’t really get more rares/exo’s than normal…however I DO get a lot more crafting materials than normal.

Edit: I see now, max with gear can reach 167% and effects can reach 155%…I didn’t realized the MF booster and the Laurel booster stack.

No Food whatsoever, Im using 6 Superior Rune of the Pirate (300%) + all MF gears which amounts to 24% more MF (Full Rare w/ Exo Weap so you can just imagine my frustration since I spent quite a fortune to build it)

In Total, I got 324% MF but I didnt bother putting the other 24% in my OP since I dont think its that significant

Your math is off my friend. You are getting %50 from your runes.

This is what a normal set of rare and masterwork MF gear looks like. We are not going to include ascended gear.

%18 – 6 armor pieces with %3 each
%60 – 5 superior traveler runes and 1 pirate
%15 – superior sigil of luck with full 25 stack
%36 – %6 each from rings, earrings, necklace and back
So thats %129

Then you can add %50 from a gem store booster, %10 from banner and %30 from food. There is also the laurel booster and the guild 24hr boosters. As well as the %20 from the ascended necklace.

So with armor, omnomberry bar and banner = %169

That is what you can count under most situations. Then you can add on the boosters if you want.

I do believe them when they say they have kept selling copies even after launch, but I do not believe that the player base is increasing. Between the different guilds that I am in, a huge friends list from launch and other friends with their guilds and friends, I do not for one second feel as if the true active population is growing. I don’t think anyone believes that.

I think everyone has something to gripe about with this game. We can all find something. The lack of end game, no matter what some might say to justify this. The unbalanced classes. The broken SPvP. What passes as new content (living story). Blah blah blah, continue list.

The fact is that nothing else is coming out soon. So we are going to keep playing this until a new game comes and we jump ship.

I was a die hard believer in MF gear in the beginning. I farmed cursed shore for hours. Got lots of rares. I would say doing shelt/pen, I would pull at least one rare per event. Then I started having a problem getting kill credit so went back to normal full stat gear. Didn’t feel as if I was seeing a decline in rare drops. Then they changed the way you got kill credit. Went back to MF gear and saw rare drops go up again.

So now, after all this, I do believe MF gear has some effect on your drops. I see these guys saying you are gimping yourself wearing MF gear. Who cares. Don’t wear it in dungeons cause that is not nice. But when farming with twenty or more other people, of course wear MF. Why wouldn’t you. The loots are much better. More gold. More happy face.

Hey Bailee. I spoke with you in game earlier. I am in a guild with about 8 active members, 12 total. We are 72 hours away from AoW5 and have plenty of influence for bounties. I offer our guild in support of your proposed alliance, either as a host guild or a support guild. I have spoken with my guild and we are all happy to have new people join our guild or join another in the hope of running some missions.

I don’t think those words mean what you think they mean. I realize casual players outnumber everyone else but can the rest of us please have this one game? You have every other MMO as it is.

When I read this, something clicked for me. I have been comparing GW2 to others and finding things to complain about.

I guess the truth is most people who play like the game. There really are many other games out there. This one sets itself apart from them.

That is the age old question. I hope someone can help you find the answer you are looking for. There is no way to know for sure as a.net keeps that info in the dark so that botters cannot find a work around.

Yes DR effects the drops of mobs. There is DR for everything. No it does not have to be tied to an event or dungeon.

But from just my experience I can give you a few tips.

Lets say we are at cursed shore farming shelt/pen. Once you are there for about an hour or so you will start seeing your loot go from greens and yellows, to blues and whites. That is how you know you have hit DR. You will not get less loot, just lower quality.

As far as getting rid of it goes, there are many answers to that as well. Usually I will go to another area for around thirty mins or so and that will get rid of it.

I have used about 20 stacks of BLSK to salvage rares for globs. With the recent buff to world boss chest, I started using master kits. Farming shelt/pen before the patch, I was happy with 2-5 rares in a two hour farming session. Now being able to get 20+ rares over a few toons in the same time is what made me want to use master kits.

I have not recorded any real numbers but I cannot see a difference. If there is one, it is not large enough to really notice. With how much it cost to buy BLSK’s, I do not believe it to be a wise purchase and use of your funds, gold or cash.

Are there any larger guilds on Tarnished Coast that are currently running guild missions that do not require %100 rep time.

My current guild is made of about 12 active members. We are all long time real life friends and have always played in the same guild, whatever the game. We will not be running guild missions in the very near future. We are working on it and we will be able to soon. We have invested a lot of influence in our guild. We are active on our own forums. We are quite proud of our guild and we are not ready to leave it behind.

A few of us are looking to “part time” in another guild til we are able to crank up the missions. I understand this is not the normal looking for guild request.

If you are in a guild that would not mind having a few extra members for a few weeks, please let me know. We all have mulitiple 80’s. We are all adults. We are easy to get along with and just like playing the game.

I would be happy to meet you in the middle as far as representing for influence. Or any other of your guild requirements.

You see it is a breach of trust, I see it as an ability to adapt their current model to demands of the gamers. Many gamers were complaining about lack of endgame among other things, this and fractals were two of their additions to address that concern.

My trust isn’t in ANets ability to do everything exactly how they once said it was, as that is not feasible. My trust is that they will continue to work to make the best game they can, and that they will continue to listen and address the concerns of the gamers.

With that, I trust that they are monitoring these forums and listening to everything we are saying. They will then do their best to address all the concerns everyone has with Ascended gear – this doesn’t necessarily mean removing the gear, but may involve changes to how it is implemented.

That said, I personally do not want them to change it, but I trust that they will.

I don’t want to get into it here. I am happy you are enjoying the game and that you are satisfied with how A.Net has handled itself. I wish I could said I felt the same. Don’t get me wrong. I am enjoying the game. I am lucky enough to be in a large guild of real friends and have time to play often. The new gear has not been a problem for me.

I do not believe that A.Net is monitoring what the player base is saying. There are problems that have been mentioned since launch that still have not been addressed. Core problems. You can find these in many threads here if you wish to know more about them. We have been lied to many times in the recent past. A pattern is emerging here. Not enough to push me away, but still makes me a bit sad. I am not alone in feeling this way. The new pinks is just a small part of it.

You are not going to get through to these guys. You are being logical. There is so much more to this other than the significant increase in stats. It’s about the breach of trust on many levels. The signs of what will come in the future. I appreciate your post sir. You make sound points and just wanted to let you know that some of us are listening to what sense you are making.

I just got around to reading this two months after its posting. These are all still valid points now. I agree and enjoyed the read.

I got what she is saying. It does suck but what is there to do about it. The weekender is at a disadvantage here. Or a full-timer, but only two weeks a month. Even worse, it will never change and more of these reward type systems will be added in the future.

I think its cute that you guys think it will get fixed. I hope it does. WvW makes me angry when it use to make me happy. It has been getting worse and worse with every “fix” I hope it gets a fix but have a feeling it will only get worse.

To the OP. Trying to understand why A.Net does what they do will drive you insane. There are a lot of things that screw some people and help others. Just the way it is.

There are so many build out there and I am having a hard time keeping them in my brain.

I mostly run dungeons and fractals with a little bit of WvW thrown in there.

Which support build brings a lot to the table while offering decent damage and survivability.

Questions about “how I like to play” do not need to be asked. The way I like to play is the way that keeps my party happy.

I read up on the AH/Hammer sticky build here and I think I like the way it sounds. Being posted 4 months ago is what makes me a bit worried. Is it still considered a solid build?

I have no shame in saying that I want a simple cookie cutter build. I am not one who likes to experiment. I like having someone who is smarter and better at this game to just tell me what build I should go with.

So you smart guys just tell me which build I want.

Support build. Which can also handle itself in WvW. Gold and Karma will not be a problem.
