I would also like to add that in both EU and NA its pretty bad to see so many players just give up in base if the opening engagement is lost.

Whether this is in Legendary or lower division, its pretty disappointing to see people give up in this fashion.

What can be done about it? I honestly cant say.

Balancing Revenant : Give more Condi Clears

Revenant is at a very good place at the moment and clearly this class is the heaviest hitting in pvp.

There should be risk and reward for playing Rev and conditions is its weakness and should remain so.

In addition I would like to point out it has numerous blocks/evades/dodges plus its superb heal. It also has access to Resistance coupled with an ele to remove your conditions, not to mention its constant boon upkeep for you and your team in close proximity around you, the class is a powerhouse.

I rarely post in these forums so I was just curious what the current crop of pvp players feel about the state of the game at the moment.

Theres four things for me that come to mind straight away:

Balance: Arguably the most balanced pvp has been in a long while, baring of course Guardian which is widely considered to be the weakest class in the current meta. Saying that I do feel the meta for lack of a better term is rather dry or dare I say a bit dull at the moment.

Build diversity: This is something I wish Arena Net would look into more, more often then not there is one solid build per profession which is used by everyone. Occasionally you may get a couple of good builds per profession but there few and far between.

Metrics/Numbers: This for me is the most worrying thing. The numbers for PvP are dwindling down somewhat. Im aware Overwatch is now in full flow and has probably taken a few numbers out of GW2 PvP. Which brings me to my final point.

Incentives: Baring the legendary PvP backpiece which I would imagine most players would have by the end of this season or next there really is nothing to incentivize players to play if they reach legendary division.

I did suggest as others have that they should maybe create a reward track exclusively for legendary division and that can only be progressed once your in legendary.

In addition the PvP Vendor has not been updated with any new items for us to spend our pvp tickets on for the last several months.

Just my two cents.

Im sure Anet will rectify the balance issues in due course so personally im not concerned with the meta currently. Call it a holiday from the norm until things settle down.

Maybe you need to summon the powers of Greyskull?:)

In all seriousness, you probably need to mention what class your using, for people to give you advice on it.

Edit; Furious got to you before me!

Out of curiosity how prevalent are macros used in pvp at the moment and for what profession do you see it used for the most.

Matchmaking doesn't seem improved

A picture sais a thousand words.

It basically proves the matchmaker still has issues even if it is in its beta form currently, this should not be occurring anymore in my opinion.

I honestly feel if a group of 5 decide to use one profession then they should at least go up against another team with a minimum of 3-4 from the opposing team to be on the same profession to be matched up against them.

Otherwise they can que for several hours to no avail.

Someone mentioned above that people think deathmatch is popular. The true thoroughbred players of PvP would not touch it with a barge pole.

People want 2v2 3v3 etc arenas and they keep requesting “deathmatch” because they think that’s the word for it. It’s actually called annihilation. It’s a massive miscommunication.

Quite true, in addition a 2v2 or 3v3 scenario in that map sounds a lot more reasonable then its current state.

Cant really agree but everyone has an opinion on the matter.

If people honestly feel that this the sort of mode they want to play in, then let them have it in a separate section of PvP and enjoy the 300 seconds odd matches that they feel is fun.

When people use the word “strategy” in deathmatches I find if it amusing. It is clearly who has the biggest gun and with a smart team you down one of there players wait for the team to try and rez that player and bomb them all into oblivion.

It is as many people said, a WvW extravaganza in a excruciatingly tiny environment.

The solution is simple keep deathmatch and conquest modes in separate sections of PvP. If people want to que for deathmatch let them have it out in 3-5 min fights, if that is what floats there boat so be it.

Personally I find deathmatch brainless and there is little to no skill involved with it. Thats just my opinion on the matter.

The rest of the update seems fine though.

^Dreams are strong on this one.

All to true im afraid, it would actually mean a player who uses an engineer in pvp to actually press a few more buttons and take full control of the classes faculties, heaven forbid I know.

What would amuse me no end is if Anet changed the Supply Crate elite skill and leaned it towards the actual “player” to micro manage each and every one of those little turrets that they just love to use.

It would increase the learning curve of an engineer by a country mile and in all honesty and it would give players who use the engineer much more recognition rather then “one button does it all” lazy automatons.

Likely the single biggest reason for the low metrics, was because W2 was released at the same time as Ascended weapons and legendary weapon updates. So most people were focusing on those.

That is also quite true. I had forgotten they released all of that at the same time.

the interview never stated there removing SAB completely there just putting it on the back burner for the moment to focus on other things (Living Story etc).

Fyrebrand: How much more removed can it be, before it’s “completely” removed? It’s not in the game. No one can play it. Even the SAB levels that were already finished, were deactivated. It does not take any development “focus” away from Living Story, to just let us access already finished content.

In response to Fyrebrand’s above post,

I do agree SAB with its current content should be activated once in a while to give people the opportunity to play it and of course clearly it wont take any focus away from Anet developing other areas there focusing on.

What I mean by the above statement you quoted me on is this, bottom line is development costs money and by the looks of it Anet probably noticed the metrics for SAB World 2 were down a great deal.

This is mainly due to the fact there was huge bugs which even stopped players from progressing especially in World 2 Zone 2 (spawn/death during tribulation mode) amongst others. That put a lot of players off SAB, hence why the numbers dwindled in my opinion.

I think people should calm down a bit now, the interview never stated there removing SAB completely there just putting it on the back burner for the moment to focus on other things (Living Story etc).

It will return but just not yet, I would like to believe they can just flip the switch and turn SAB on with its current content for some people who have not had the opportunity to play it, its been gone for over a year almost but I guess we will have to wait and see.

I sort of agree on that score the duration in world 2 was a little excessive, I think if they found a middle ground between W1 and W2 it would be about right the length and challenge for all players.

Agreed Crise, although I do get the feeling that Anet will be stubborn about this and not re-release the blue colored skins again, irrespective whether SAB returns.

The laurel idea is probably not the right route to take but I think most people would be open to the idea of SAB being open at least once every few months for a couple of weeks at a time at least.

If this did occur I would like Anet to make all weapons account bound from SAB so it would not effect the GW2 economy. Assuming of course they gave us the option of getting the blue colored SAB weapon skins available again.

I’m not actually advocating some other posters methods of getting attention about SaB, however there is clearly an issue here that should be resolved with a little communication, since some players in the community are clearly is at odds with the developers vision.

Firstly Anet have not actually stated that they will be removing SaB permanently, what I am getting from that interview though is that there wont be any further development on it for the foreseeable future.

I do believe what most players would like to happen now if that is the case is that Anet simply turns on SaB with its current content and let players at least have the “choice” to play it every so often.

Yes people will get bored of it eventually however give players the freedom to choose to play it on a regular basis or not.

I’m also disappointed with what has been said about SAB however having a constructive discussion rather then bouncing off the walls with indignation wont solve anything.

Whilst I agree TS/mumble should never be required for an open event raid, it’s still a huge achievement for you guys – not just beating him, but also managing to organise and coordinate, as shown by the fact everyone was in position at the start of the fight.

Good job all round!! Any reports of turret users not getting loot? Ive heard rumours of that at earlier phases

I received all the rewards as a turret user so it seems to be working just fine now. If it was a bug beforehand not an issue anymore.

as far as i know PoserGate got help from devs, at least the GW2 fb said they helped them…which isnt legit in my book, they had people that worked on the event there helping.

That is absolute nonsense I was there and the two Anet employees did not help in any shape, way or form.

The turret operators I would say have the most critical job in this event as there are only 6 turrets and after a bit of trial and error we finally hit the nail between the 6 of us and got used to the mechanics and how they should be used during this event.

That is one thing that does make me uneasy about this fight, so much in the event hinges on the actions of those 6 people. I mean, I’m used to the fact that the individual does not really matter that much in gw2’s events, after all if there are 100+ people in a fight then they cannot, but if one or two turret operators are asleep at the controls then the event could fail.

I suppose you can just let them get killed by the risen and hope a better player gets in when it’s repaired but there’s too much power concentrated there IMO.

I do agree if you have even one or two people who are operating the turrets who are not well versed then the event will more then likely fail, thats how critical they are in the current event mechanics.

Saying that people still to need practice on them so even if the event fails at least people will be familiarized with what needs to be done.

I was one of the turret operators during the fight last night in which we finally defeated Teq on Blackgate and I am a native of that server.

I can honestly say our zerg did a great job, conjured weapons were used and food buffs helped quite it a bit but it wasesent as straightforward as dps’ing Teq, others have made this point in this thread so it does not bare repeating.

Cleansing is absolutely vital and to anticipate when to hit Teq to remove his hardened shells plus protecting our zerg and the people who were defending us at the turrets was the key to this whole fight.

Another huge factor is that 30 second ish window after the megalaser is defended were as a turret user you apply quickness as much as you can to the zerg and use the number 1 skill as much as you can with as much a 9k+ per hit. Its considerable damage with 6 turrets hitting Teq at the same time.

With time and practice people will understand these basics unless Anet decides to tweak it of course.

I wont deny using TS helped a great deal, all the turret operators by the way where on TS. In fact I would even go far as to say that as an open world event it should not be necessary to use it but unfortunately the reality is its needed to coordinate.

It is concerning though that servers with lower population will struggle with this so I do believe Anet will have to tweak this event to compensate for that fact.

Anyway have fun everyone and hopefully well see a couple more servers tonight manage to do this event.

Good luck!
