Feedback: Guild Wars 2 Mac 64-Bit Client

Just some additional feedback. I have been using the 64bit version for the last weeks. I do encounter the random keyboard issue. But that is it! The overall performance, I have to admit, is not bad at all. I manage a frame rate of between 30-40 fps. After some tuning and running most settings at “medium” and full screen. I am optimistic. The PoF try-out did work satisfactory.
I want to share the following. I have an iMac 27" late 2012 with 8gb of ram, 1gb of vram and 1tb HDD. A very clean MacOs High Sierra (without Adobe Flash, without Silverlight, without Office or other games). Just Apple plus GW2!
The 32 bit GW2 worked nicely. The cpu was always showing 180% (I assume 2 cores) and the fan was continuously running at maximum speed after 20 minutes of playtime. About 2 years ago I increased the ram to 24gb. No difference whatsoever. It is not used. The standard 8gb is enough. A month ago the HDD died. I replaced it with an SDD. At about the same time the 64bit GW2 arrived. My system now starts GW2 in seconds. The fan stays at low speed. My fan was running at full-speed not caused by CPU or GPU temperature; but caused by HDD temperature. The design of GW2 database probably causes “high frequency” disk access. (Not sequential)
My late 2012 is “under specified” but with the SDD it works nicely.

I checked again. The 32-bit environment has changed. It does not recognize (ignores) my Apple physical keyboard. Mapping in GW2 options is looking for keys that are not there. And I can not map keys that are present on my keyboard into the GW2 options. No wonder the system gets stuck. Try/check the “swap weapons”. Work around for me is to use the mouse to “swap weapons”. The 64-bit environment is showing same behavour.

With latest update the 64-bit version became playable! The fps is reasonable at lowest settings. Running Sierra on late 2012 iMac, 1gb of vram and 24gb ram. Ram is hardly used! CPU is running flat out at 180% (two cores out of 4).
The remaining issue for me is keyboard. It gets stuck. Randomly. And it is re-setting itself. Somehow I have the feeling that the keyboard settings for 32 and 64-bit versions are overwriting and contradicting each other. I use a dutch apple keyboard! Its settings in GW2 are not kept.

Please explain “for the time being”. Are we talking weeks, months? It is a disgrace.
Apple (Macos) will support 32 bit applications in the next release of High Sierra.
Has been announced. There is no technical need to enforce all MacOs users into 64 bit.
Despite of all the compliments made by “polite” users, the current 64 bit mac implementation does not deserve any compliments at all. Despite all the effort and hard work; it is mediocre at best. Hardly tested, not stable, keyboard issues. If Path Of Fire requires 64 bit, tough luck. I will not buy it for the time being. May Balthazar ….

Just a quick question. I watched the Path of Fire announcement yesterday and did like it. I am interested in pre-ordering but I am not sure whether it will work with my setup.
I have an iMac late 2012 and the 32-bit client works “satisfactory”. It crashes during massive teamplay but I have learned to accept that. I am getting about 40-50 fps.
I did try the 64-bit again just now. It works; but I do not like the colors and I am getting an fps of 20-30. It is “hesitating/stalling” during play. So, for the time being I will avoid 64-bit.
Question: Will PoF play in 32-bit macOS beta environment?

And I am back in GW2. Did a repair job in terminal. Ended with an error. “Timeout failed – no server response”. But it did something! Everything is currently working for me. Cheers.

Similar. Starting today I am stuck in loading screens. Music is nice. And I am also in Netherlands with Ziggo. Using MacOS beta 32 bit version.
Solved. Apparently you have to start “manually”, i.e. double clicking gw2 source file in app folder. It all works again.
Same issues. Running on an iMac. How do I run gw2 in administrator mode?
Similar story. Started yesterday with the disappearance of Scarlet. The kitten left something behind. Running maces Maverick on new iMac 2013. No other games installed. System freezes randomly. Within a few seconds macos intervenes with a unrecoverable error pop-up screen. Error c0000005. Report sent to Arenanet.
Back to main screen. No reboot required. Can start gw2 again. And again and again….
Similar issue. Starting tuesday 18th march 2014. System freezes up constantly. Within a few seconds a pop-up reports: system error c0000005. Unrecoverable. Report submitted to Arenanet.
I do a restart of GW2. no system reboot needed.
Using Macos Maverick on native iMac 2013. No other games installed or played.
Native machine with Maverick. Been playing since april 2013.
I am stuck at this point for several days. “4/5” however that silly assistant keeps telling me that all components are there and please meet me in Divinity Reach. Interestingly I have 13/13 portal invasions stopped. Been all over the map. Closed all kinds of portals. Killed all kinds of minions, chiefs, captains. You name it.
My only hope is a system update.
