I would be down to play as Necro, Ele, or Guard as those have always been my mains.
After no update since the prepatch FOREVER AGO
Its like legend rank 6 or something stupid, bro. they changed their minds. Making it any higher than 5 is plain dumb. Anything past 1 doesnt make sense (finish 1, not legend 0).
Well the problem with staff is that it is the most easily counterable weapon in the game from my experience. The thing that gives it some saving grace is the trait that is basically required. Unblockable and gives pretty good life force. Without that trait, though, you are screwing yourself out of pretty much all life force. That is a part of the reason why I wouldn’t mind seeing it pulse for 1 second after and do a little less immediate burst, but more chances to guarantee it hits.
Edit: Might as well add that Scepter is pretty much our best right now, and it is really strong when coupled with warhorn.

I would love to see staff buffed, and so would… ya know… almost EVERY Necro.
What does staff bring to the table that no other Necro weapon does? Nothing. All do some sort of cc, all do some sort of condi, and have some sort of power ability. They all have better auto attacks, as well. I mean, come on… A non-homing missile that does nothing but very VERY low power damage. My farts do more damage irl than the staff auto.
I would love to see the staff get some love, almost every necro would. it is the most fun weapon, but can be the least damaging and least viable as it currently sits.
Here are my ideas I came up with:
I would like the staff auto attack to apply 1 stack of poison for 1(2?) seconds. Also, please beef up the auto damage and make it at least a semi homing-missile. Since it already has two different casting animations, they could just make the first auto like it is currently, maybe more power damage, and have the second one apply the poison.
The mark damage is not that terrible, the only thing I would really want changed is to make them last for 1 second when they explode and do a 2nd tick of everything. Sure, can nerf the damage and condi stacks down a tiny bit to be roughly the same damage.
Putrid Mark is fine, but I would like to see a better power scaling since it is supposed to be our “power” damage for staff. Reaper’s Mark should probably do a bit more as well in regards to power damage, but i would rather see something buffing the fear duration – but that may just be a fool’s dream. Though… They could add 1 second of chill to it as well to fit the name.
Thank you for reading,

If you do it please film it. I would join myself but I woud l have to beat the vale guardian first.
I don’t know many necro players which is why I posted this. Nobody seems interested though.
I definitely would, but I have to finish my ascended peices first. Im getting pretty close, though.
I’m going to become alcoholic becuse of this game
always has been, and always will be the most fun way to pvp
rip my rating
owait…. anet already decided to screw it up on their own…
Is there no interest? :/
DPS meter is absolutely crucial, if someone isn’t putting the effort needed to beat the encounter they need to be gkicked and blacklisted from future runs.
Failure is not an option and can’t be ignored.
@ Dahkeus
Ask yourself, are all the pros you stated worth the cons? Do you really want scores of people like the above poster getting their hands on an Anet supported DPS meter? This is a game; not some black-ops mission to rescue a hostage.
@ Cletus, stay crazy.
But it is, tho. You do /supposedly/ save a Squad.
I would like to say this before I forget:
Sorry to everyone that my posts are so huge. This is just a topic that I really care about, and I really want to see something, maybe not this – but something, to give us more than just Ascended.
Sure, Ascendant is nice, but that just means that full Berserker armor (helm, shoulders, chest, gloves, pants, boots) gives a 3.6% dps (on paper, not practice) increase over exotics (instead of 1.8%), which only really makes it worthwhile if I just stumble upon it or it upgrades from Ascended. I also am not sure if it is even in the game yet, either; only that it is on the table.
More of a problem than a solution.
Go in with guildies/player you know. Ask them what their dps is.
The problem is; very few players actually know their true DPS.
I estimate my damage using champion risen giants / bosses in Arah which I know the HP values of. However I can almost assure you that my DPS against the Vale Guardian is lower due to environmental reasons. It’s difficult to maintain a good Viper’s Engineer rotation with AOE’s everywhere.
That and I think Spirit Vale lowers stats. I lose about 1k hp on every character, tanky or zerker, and I don’t know how or why.
The problem with the “Toxic in PuGs” argument is that they explicitly said that it is not PuG content and they want to keep it that way. Add toxicity to it imo, causes less of it to happen. But that is not why I personally want DPS meters.
That’s fundamentally opposed to the whole GW2 philosophy.
In WoW there is constant gear inflation, and you can’t enjoy the current raid tier without farming the previous one.
In GW2 you can get the top gear from various sources, you only need to get it once, and then you can play whatever you like whenever you like it.No wonder I quit WoW and I am playing GW2.
The gear progression was something I enjoyed to an extent. WoW always overdid it, and Legendary items should always have a sort of catch-up mechanic to keep them current tier if you are even thinking of adding them. Obviously, things like Thunderfury, Shadowmorne, and Dragonwrath would be too OP in current content. Mostly Dragonwrath since people used it from patch 4.2 when it released, all the way until Hellfire Citadel released in 6.2 (current raid). That was because it literally doubled your spell damage. The only reason they don’t currently use it is because we are finally at a point where the stats on the staff itself aren’t high enough to compensate. Still hilarious that it was BiS for all casters for about 4 or 5 years and almost no one realized it or even attempted it.
REGARDLESS OF THAT, back to GW2. I like gear progression. I know others do, and others do not. I know that ANet doesn’t want us to have 1,000,000 stats or to inflate the gear grind higher than it currently is. You can get a full set of Ascended gear in only a few weeks if you honestly dedicate yourself. The rings are super easy to get, the Yakington backpack is 100g or less (and the pattern is a Mystic Forge pattern), the neck and accessories take about a month or so if you buy them for laurels, and finally the guild ascended items are only 2-3 weeks of weekly guild quests.
I want challenging content. I want content that makes me sweat blood and scream when I finally finish it with a group of friends. Spirit Vale is really good at accomplishing this, and it is a welcomed thing into the MMO genera for me (GW2’s difficulty they are currently holding with raids).
If they went the way that I had brought to the table here, it would take us probably anywhere from 3-5 years to just get all of the upgrade component slots (if they release raids every 6 months, which is what is safe to assume). Unlocking all of the stat upgrades could take the same time or more, from time-gating it (not from actually aquiring it, RNG could make it possible in just a month or less if you power through EVERYTHING).
They could even just throw pieces into raid wings, making it significantly faster. Considering GW1 was only 7 years old before GW2 was released, they could possibly do it faster so that they can make the next installment with an even better combat engine and graphics that we love today sometime between 2019-2025.
I hate the timer and if they must have one I see no reason for it to be so low. The mechanics of the fight are great and tough enough that you wipe without worrying about time. If there must be one then 12mins would be a good spot imo.
Oh, I’m not talking about the Vale Guardians timer. Oh no, Gerovage? … Gorvoge? … the boss after him is hands down reaches 0 = GG.
Three of our party members can confirm running Soldiers, Rabids or Cavalier’s will most likely prevent you from beating the second boss.
For the DPS role raids you HAVE to run zerkers, vipers or sinisters. Anything else will hinder yourself and your entire team.
When you say zerker, vipers or sinisters does this mean zerker armor, weapons AND trinkets? or just armor and maybe weapon?
Full glass, right now the biggest challenge is battling the timer. Unless ArenaNet stops kitten ing around and realizes how stupid the enrage timer is, you are punished for playing defensively.
The only way to counter it is to do something like a support guard tank, druid full healer, zerk tempest with defensive utilities, and a support tempest with one damage stat. But all that does is make you die at 10-20 mins instead of wiping at 30 seconds – 5 mins.
I’d be down for them to add more and give even more Fractal levels and scaling. Probably won’t see this until the next expansion, but I can wait for that.
I’d still like to see even more fractals as soon as possible, though : D
I think that the problem is that most of the time, it doesn’t feel like Chrono really increases damage at all unless its on a full group of zerker DPS. I have tested it a bit and it feels useless for my group most of the time. I can see the windows that would make it excessively strong, but we just lose too much trying to force a Mesmer to work. We have tried several different builds and just do not see it working enough.
Before you flame or just drop out, take this with a grain of salt. I am here to try to propose an idea and not cause friction, nor am I here to annoy anyone. Also, a TL;DR will be at the bottom.
(Pic is at raid hype.)
I believe that the nerf to ascended gear with the expansion was uncalled for, but it’s what ever. It makes sense to me, but it wasn’t needed. All it did was make crafting ascended gear even less worthwhile. It’s barely an upgrade since you are locked out of upgrade components. I believe that upgrade components should have been able to be used in Ascended gear from the start, and agony resistance should have been its own stat that you can add to different slots in the same gear.
This would make rings crazy with 4 slots as they are right now, but they would lose (or keep) the meager +15 to a SINGLE stat that you get while still keeping the agony resistance. They could even reduce it to just one infusion slot (or keep it, doesn’t really matter), but you can go to higher agony in a single slot than currently to counter that. You would get one slot for each piece of gear, like exotics, to use upgrade components on ascended gear.
Build diversity would be promoted even more with a change like this, and it would help to motivate people to get ascended other than the fact that Jimmy wont let them into the raid. Since there is no inspect option, I could just claim to be full ascended and get into any pug. Having a legendary weapon also causes more of a fully-geared illusion that could cause some headaches. Some people WILL/HAVE bought them with real life money. I bought $100 worth of gems and flipped it to gold. Then flipped that ~1.2k(?) to about 3.3k and bought Meteorlogicus during the Halloween event from opening over 70k trick or treat bags (when they were 4 silver instead of 7 a bag, and candy corn sold for 2x what it does now).
To get to my real point, the fact that raids will never give increased stats is redundant (doesn’t help that I lose like 1k health on every character when I enter for some reason). What, are we just going to get increasingly harder content? As it currently is, there is no way we can go 2 or 3 raid tiers into the future without people giving up altogether and losing all hype for GW2 High End PvE Content.
A few changes I would personally want to see is have some sort of item drop that allows us to add an upgrade component slot to a piece of ascended gear, at least the armor and jewelry. Weapons probably wouldn’t need it as much, but it would be cool to see it in every raid. They could time gate these by having certain ones drop in certain raids. Maybe not do it in the current raid, but start with something like helmets and maybe shoulders in the next raid.
To further this, after we get to a point where we can unlock all of the legendary armor, they could add legendary upgrade components (could just do a higher stat and no stat change, but the stat change is an amazing feature that pretty much everyone with a legendary LOVES).
This would give us potential gearing upgrades for the next 7 raids (full raids, not individual wings) AFTER Spirit Vale. They could do the slots like this: Helm/Shoulder, Chest/Gloves, Pants/Boots, Rings (both), Accessories (both), Back/Neck, and finally Weapons. They could even just make it only one, which would add about 4 (3 extra from armor and back/neck being separated – which would make it the next ELEVEN RAID TIERS). This would also keep raids relevant for forever as new players will always come and players will always make alts. Thus, you would have to go back to older raids to get the correct upgrade slots.
They could also make some sort of item after the point where we have all upgrade components to buff them up to maybe a 1-5% increase of what they are, consuming the upgrade slot. That way, in even 5 years or so, people still run Spirit Vale, the next several raids, and what ever raid is the new one at that point in time.
TL;DR (I prefer if you at least read the 2nd half of the post, but to each their own)
Gear is too scarce and the difference in stats are WAY too low (granted, there is a hefty amount of stat combos – which is cool).
Raids may potentially get even harder with even less people able to attempt them due to no stat increase.
No Inspect option so you can lie about your gear being full ascended and stat combo you don’t have.
Infusion slots were always a bad idea, IMO.
Raids are VERY FUN and I want them to never die out.
They could go in any direction to increase the value of raids.
My idea on gear upgrading:
Add an item that adds an upgrade component slot to ascended gear, and make it limited to what slot per raid.
After all slots are covered, make an item that increases stats by a 1-5% (could do RNG or just straight out, which would bring more longevity to raids if it’s RNG 1-5%) on the item, but consumes the upgrade slot (must have it on said piece to use the item stat upgrade token).
You can add upgrade component slots again after they were consumed, and keep going in a chain to a certain point.
Make higher tiered upgrade components only from raids.
Remove or keep stats on infusions, reduce amount of infusion slots and increase the maximum amount of agony resistance to each infusion to compensate (or keep as is and add in the upgrade component ideas).
At the end of the day, I am just a player. Sure, ANet are pretty cool and do like to give us what we want every now and then, but they do also have some things set a certain way that they do not want changed. I DO NOT see this change ever happening, but I would be so very happy and probably quit other MMO’s like WoW for good if they added stuff like this just to focus on GW2.
I PvE and PvP, but I like PvE a whole lot more than PvP. I am good at both and will do either, but raids have always dragged me in and forced me to stop PvPing when I need to finish up some raid stuff.

Cant buy Gems after buying HoT Ultimate

About 3 1/2 days or so ago, I bought HoT Ultimate Edition from the Gem Store with my card. Ever since, I have been unable to purchase Gems. I have tried numerous times with two cards, but I still have yet to go through. It usually says something like “Unfortunately, an error has occurred.”
I have made a support ticket but they haven’t replied back at all outside of an automatic message stating that they are looking into it. I am really annoyed that I haven’t been able to purchase gems as I wanted to buy stuff at the very beginning of HoT from the new expansion-themed items and the Halloween items like the Bat Glider/Wing combo pack.
I really want to support GW2, and get some items, but I am unable to do so. Can this issue please be fixed?
