I am seriously upset about this… I had no idea this would happen and now my story journal will forever have a random nonsensical chapter? And I can’t do my actual story chapter? I know there’s too much going on with launch for this to even be considered in a timely manner… But please add a way to reverse this or a much clearer warning message. Calling it a feature isn’t going to fix my poor character.

Game Updates: Wardrobe, Transmutation, Outfits

Before I get upset, has anyone seen where the racial town clothes went? I assumed they would be an outfit like the other sets but… They appear to have just been removed entirely. If this is the case, I’m very disappointed.

Also, let me just say now that I do not like the changes to town clothes. I would have been excited to buy town clothes if they had their own toggle-able wardrobe tab (similar to outfits but with swappable parts). As is, I don’t see much use for them. I like to make unique outfits, not wear Halloween costumes (and frankly I don’t mind not being able to wear them in combat, I just liked having a fun change of clothes on hand). They said ‘try the new system before judging it.’ Well, now I have. And I really hope someone is considering 1. giving me my racial clothes back, 2. letting me mix and match outfits or whatever they are now or at least 3. letting me have multiple armor sets to switch between.
I apologize if that came off a little ranty. I just hate to see features that I was excited about before the game came out get removed from the game for apparently no reason.

I’ve put a post up on the GW2 Forum, and suggested Wednesday 9th April at 7pm GMT. I know it probably won’t make a difference, but I can’t think of anything else to do. I just feel like we’re not being listened to

http://www.guildwars2roleplayers.com/home/m/2737230/viewthread/12104598-town-clothes-protest-day/page/1

What server/ingame location?

I can feel that to a degree. They did say they wanted us to try out the new system. I’m willing to humor them on that… But what I’d like to know is if we try it, and it sucks as much as we expect, have they left themselves any room to go back on this? I mean, all we want is what we already have, right? Maybe they’l; have to polish up the old town clothes UI to fit in with the rest of the new wardrobe interface, but really, it doesn’t seem like so much to ask. They can even keep their one piece costumes. Just leave an extra slot for that, and see how many people really want to buy them (not many, I suspect).

That got really depressing really fast. Anyway, where is the event? I’d like to go.

nevermind...

And then they have 4 sigils. Lol not that it doesn’t sound cool and all, but I think new weapons or at least new weapons per class sounds way cooler. With the added bonus of being for everyone.

… store far less data inside templates when those happen.

THIS excites me Are we going to be able to store templates? That would really be a big big step!

No ETA on templates. However, the new build tech brings us muuuuch closer than before.

:D This sounds good. Maybe for PvE too? Either way. Yay.

If there is already level requirements depending of the resource tier, i don’t see the reason to don’t spread them to make our exploration rewarding on all maps.

I see where you’re coming from, but from the perspective of a low level player, it would suck to run into mostly stuff you can’t gather… so I can see why they wouldn’t do this..

Really glad to see the unified daily/monthlies. I never realized but there was always this sort of “is today a pvp or pve day?” feel. Pretty much everything else in this announcement was also positive. One thing I’m a little sad about is the lack of a unique PVP set. I sort of like my character having multiple sets of gear, but maybe this means we’ll see multiple wardrobe sets soon? It’s a bit of a pain to have to go in and change all of my gear every time I want to change my look.

Our feedback does nothing.

I do not agre. The devs have clearly taken into account a lot of our feedback on various design choices. One example that comes to mind is ranks. Anet were originally going to remove them when they removed glory, but due to the responses they got, they decided to leave them in. The big difference between this and the town clothes debacle is it was before the actual changes were made. Naturally, Anet are going to be more conservative going back on changes which have already been implemented in large part, due to the man hours invested. That said, I’m confused that they didn’t think this was a topic worthy of community debate before its implementation. My guess is they did not want to spoil the wardrobe reveal, or that they underestimated how much the community liked individual town clothes items based on their poor sales. Either way, saying they ignore us is a vast oversimplification. Do they sometimes mistake what the community wants when making design choices? Yea, probably. But they do listen. And when it is feasible, they have made changes to accommodate us. I know you’re upset about the changes to town clothes. I am too. But we can’t make knee jerk assumptions based on that. After all, it has only been 2 days. Continued mature support for the issue may yet convince them it is worth changing.

I just… I appreciate the explanation and the rationale to an extent. But I hope you realize two things. 1) I have (and I think a lot of people who wanted to design their own outfits have) no interest in wearing a premade costume. They’re fine to have, but not something I am interested in. 2) Without using outfits, people in my situation no longer get a second set of gear to switch to for free. It has taken away an option we had before. If you have to take away town clothes, and you have to introduce single piece costumes (in stead of multi piece costumes), at least let us drag away the shattered remains of the system we enjoyed by giving us a second wardrobe slot to switch to. So we can pretend to have a second set of nice clothes to wear when we want.

I’m not going to say that I don’t like most of the changes (except them stealing my town clothes), but I will say that the feature pack doesn’t seem to have anything bigger or more exciting (so far, anyway) than the features released over the course of the regular bi-weekly patches. Maybe they’re good changes, but still. I suspect the purpose, however, may have been to set up the framework of separating story updates from stuff updates like this one. Maybe that will allow future feature patches to have bigger, more interesting updates? I don’t know. But it does seem strange.

So I was thinking it might be cool if we could craft a new kind of bag sort of like invisible bags, except you have the option to assign hotkeys to the slots in it. I think this could be really convenient for pets, food, and other vanity/gimmicky trinkets (tonics, exploding golems and whatnot). Not exactly urgent, but I think it would be a really nice convenience. Thoughts?

While I think the ‘make all town clothes armor skins’ option is a lot better than the alternative currently proposed, I feel like I’m losing something in not having the additional town clothes set I can switch to whenever I want. Whatever ends up being done, I really hope I can still have at least 2 sets of toggleable armor available (without storing things in inventory or paying charges etc.), since having features taken away is a kind of painful experience.

Side note: this would have been a great topic for a CDI. Have those been scrapped, or was it not done for some other reason?

Its been all been said, but here’s my 2 cents. The only reason I never really participated in town clothes was the lack of storage for alternate outfits.

With a feature like the wardrobe I would have loved to have bought a bunch of town clothes and made some really cool outfits. If anything, it seems like townclothes and wardrobe would go really well together.

I hope there is still some chance that this could still be reconsidered without an inordinate cost in development hours.

Hah, I guess I forgot to mention I only wanted the option to go earn all my traits. They definitely would have had angry players beating down the door if the just took them away. Either way, based on this very unscientific sample, I guess I can see why they didn’t bother to add the option.

I know there are a fair amount of people who have already made a character of every class. Maybe I’m just a masochist, but is anyone else a bit bummed to be grandfathered into having all of your traits (except the new ones)? I would kind of rather get to try out exploring/ earning them on the new system without having to delete any of my beloved characters.

While this sounds nice (particularly having stats on my kits and being able to have different appearances on them), I have to wonder whether they decided not to do this for the inordinate amount of effort the art team would be putting in to skin all of these weapons for a single class. Might be why it isn’t/won’t be implemented.

I don’t know if this was pointed out, but it’s not a hardware issue. I had a friend check some of the cut scenes and scouts I was having issues with, on my computer, and everything seems to be okay for his account. (I also tried my account on his computer, and there are the same issues.) So the issues seem to affect certain accounts (and not others) indiscriminate of hardware.
As far as where lines have been missing, it’s been every story quest I’ve tried since the patch, norn starter stories, the level 22 sylvari quest, and various scouts, including the first one in the asura zone.
Hope this is helpful
