After updating my nvidia graphics card I’m having no success running guild wars through hdmi to play on my flat screen tv. Prior to the update I could play guild wars fine on my tv. Now after the login app pops up and I click play game, it will simply flash from a black window back to the desktop repeatedly for about 5-10 seconds then the game will close all together. Any suggestions?
Try not using wifi if you are and just hard wire a ethernet cord. This helped me and I also downloaded software from wtfast.com which is like 5mb and super small. The first 30 days is free to try. So far no lag or disconnect issues like I was previously having over wifi.
Guapo try downloading wtfast.com software.
You can update your video card free at download.com
Okay the Error 7 “Game client has lost connection to server” is definitely latency related. The guild wars servers are not at the same level that we’re used to with WoW or Everquest. To be expected though with a subscription free game(Guild Wars is still way better than WoW). I went through all the trouble shooting from port forwarding to anti virues to winsock resetting to finally skipping wifi. Plugging directly into the router with a ethernet cord has finally solved the problem for me. I was getting booted every time I logged in after 2-5 minutes. I did download the 30 day trial of wtfast.com which increases connection speed to online games. Though it made a small noticeable difference, I continued to get error 7. I have a very fast internet and wifi was the issue. DO NOT USE WIFI IF GETTING THE ERROR 7 DISCONNECT. This fixed the problem for me after exhausting all trouble shooting steps for days. Hope this helps and good luck.

Note: I still kept getting booted with wtfast.com. The real fix was not using wifi and plugging ethernet cord directly into router. I also have all port forwarding ports set up and have anti viruses uninstalled, though I doubt those were the issue to begin with. Definitely the latency of the connection when using wifi or slower internets and the power the guild wars servers actually have to deliver data at the rates paid subscription game servers can.

Okay I’ve tried everything I’ve found on here for trouble shooting and finally found something that made a difference. A combination of downloading the software from wtfast.com and bypassing using wifi and directly hooking up a ethernet cord to the router has so far solved lag and getting booted. Good luck everyone hope this helps.
Scratch last post. Still getting booted. Was only temporary.
Okay I’ve been trying everything. I went into properties change run in compatibility to service pack 1 and run as administrator. I’ve also seen others with success with running service pack 2. Try the different compatibilities under these options. The servers are clearly cheap, so finding the best compatibility for the comp to run at the highest performance is key. Also lower graphic settings to lowest possible.

Tons of people have this problem. Can’t find a solution anywhere.
I don’t see a fix in sight. And from going through all the pages in this thread, the tech support went from looking for a solution to pointing the finger of blame at the consumer. “We’re not qualified to find a solution so it’s your problem”
Tech support is trying to turn the blame on the individual consumer when it’s clearly a server side issue. This is just sad. Can’t believe I just went out and bought this game.
Same issue and I’m on Windows Vista (32 bit). I’ve seen tons of posts about this. It’s definitely server end.

I’m having same problems. I went through the technical supports tips on how to fix this, uninstalled anti virus programs, disabled firewall, port forwarded specific ports and everything. I had the problem I thought fixed two days ago and played all day fine. The problem seems to be on the server end. Technical support basically put the solution to the problem as just an excuses aka ploy to avoid blame on themselves. Very disappointed that I just purchased the game and continue to get booted.
