Hi, I’ve used a berserker version of the build in this forum post by Pyroatheist for most of my mesmer life. It was very easy to play and effective although I must disclaim it is a rather old post and I have not played my mesmer for about 1 month.
It’s strong suit is the 1vs1 scenario and will be less effective (but still good) in group play.
Why wouldn’t you want Signet of Rage?
OP Warrior killing zergs with one trait. GG
what trait r u referring to? We’re just so op it’s hard to tell
I like jumping on zergs with the Death From Above trait.
they’re OP and they don’t care!
they have sweet banners.
(Super serious topic…)
It would be nice if people specified the game modes they were talking about. Instead of “what are the best builds”, it should be something more like “what are the best builds for fractals/wvw-solo/tpvp/wvw-zerg”.
This vagueness and ambiguity seems to be a way too common problem.
I love coming out of stealth, holding still, and just casting scepter 1 acting like a clone. If you’ve got some other illusions in play already it can be pretty hilarious to watch the enemy try to figure out who the real mesmer is.
It is not impossible for a weaker (uplevel) character to contribute to a zerg fight – it’s just tougher. As long as you’re contributing (supply, control effects, boons, etc.) and not dying then I see no issue.
Thanks for all the responses fellers.
The idea was to do as little work as possible to get to the state of “ownage.” Ideally there would be a gem store option to pay $20 bucks to get your character to lvl 80 but sadly there is not (I probably haven’t thought of all the repercussions/implications of this non-existent feature). Then just pay for some more gold/gems to buy gear, so that essentially I could get there in say 5 minutes and a lot of dough.
I’m making my fourth character and it is currently level 15. I’m wondering if anyone knows approximately how much money it would take to level him the rest of the way AND get some decent gear (let’s just say exotics with sigils, runes, jewels, etc.)? If it only costs me $20 to get him 80 and “geared” then I’d be interested, but I’m not sure how much it would really cost me.
Right now it looks like roughly $10 for 800 gems for about 50g
AND
Leveling cooking would cost me roughly 10g to get 7 levels, but I’ve read that’s one of the least expensive crafting disciplines.
I need 65 more levels, so that’s over 9 crafting disciplines that need to be like cooking but they all give varying amounts of levels and require varying amounts of gold to powerlevel.
I’m thinking the gear would be about 3g a piece so 14 × 3 plus w/e for the runes, sigils, etc.
Are there better ways to level than crafting if you’re going to pay for it?
Finally, I’m aware gear varies greatly in price so I’m just looking for a baseline.
I agree – define your terms
I am a big fan of this build and have had good success with it: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/mesmer/Guide-Overpowered-PvP-Phantasm-Build/first
Just wanted to say thank you for checking into this promptly Anet as this bug really does hurt a lot of our builds. Also, there sure are a lot of whiners around here…we are better than this fellow mesmers!
Bump
I like moa best – such a long cc! It’s especially fun to cast on necros right after they use one of their forms or underwater to make people a fish lol
Time warp is probably decent for zergs in wvw but it would need to be timely and the situation is rare.
MI is nice for getaways in wvw but not too useful in spvp in my opinion.
P.S. Your English is good!
I apologize if this sounds offensive as that is not the intent, but my initial thought is that if you are new to the class, then there are probably similar builds out there that are already tested and more well-thought-out than yours. I like using a variant of this build from the great Pyroatheist. I’ve had great success with it in hotjoin and tpvp – just my 2 cents.
I’m no expert, but I’ll tell you what I know that may help. People have the potential to hit very hard in WvW since gear is not equal and all of the crazy food/equipment buffs, so running Zerker will definitely make you VERY squishy (especially since we’re light on armor). Cavalier’s trinkets have been recommended for my build and may suit you, too.
I’m trying out full Zerker, much to my comrades chagrin, and I’ve been hit for very large amounts like 14k.
I use Blink and Decoy and since they are stun breaks you can try to save them for the hammer warrior’s stuns.
Also, you may already know this but you do not have to be facing your target to cast phantasm spells (helps kiting the melee classes).
You might also want to consider using Blurred Frenzy and Distortion defensively to counter stuns from the warrior.
Hello,
I play a phantasm build on my Memser and I just invested in 6 runes of the scholar. Well pretty much the whole reason I bought those runes was for the 10% damage and now I’ve come to learn that my phantasms (which are the main source of damage) don’t even get this bonus…
Please fix – thanks.
Stability well worked for me about a month ago.
Ability to revive and finish other players while in different forms (DS, Lich, Plague, etc.)
Also, I don’t think I should have to wait a full second for my utility skills to come back to me after returning from another form.
So, I was on the Necromancer forum and decided to search for “fear” – no results. The second topic on the page had “Fear” in the title and “fear” multiple times in the post. It can’t be a case matching problem.
Came to this forum to search for problems with searching (reminds me of an xzibit[sp?] meme), but guess what – no results when I searched for “search”……..
Fix it please and thank you!
So really my reason for saying this is don’t choose a thief for partner. =p
Engi I’ve heard is quite possibly the best combination, if not a nightmare, to run with. But as for hotjoin, mesmer is pretty good and generally facerolls a lot of newer players who don’t know how to chase after the dodge rolling “clone”. Also they can immobilize them in your wells, while shatter bursting them at the same time.
I’ve heard Engi who stacks Might (for Power and Precision?) can be quite effective at dealing condition damage. Can anyone speak more to this?
As for the Thief – it sounds like condition Thief builds would be a poor choice at the moment, but what about other Thief builds? Burst?
I realize this question has no correct answer, so we’re just looking for which profession has a lot going for it in terms of complementing the Necro.
I have heard that Necros usually need some help from a “peeler” since they lack some mobility – is this a big concern when picking the other profession?
The combos sound great for guardian and the fact that they support well, since it sounds like Necros are FotM.
Mesmer is what he is trying out now and that seems to be alright.
The Ranger + Necro pet domination combo sounds like a lot of fun but probably not the “best”.
Really looking for a reliable way to win the most games possible – any build combo suggestions welcome.
My buddy and I will be playing a lot of 5s and 8s hotjoin play and we both have a competitive gaming background.
I’ve decided to focus on Necromancer (some sort of condition build) and he is open to playing any other profession so long as it works well in conjunction with mine.
My question is this – what profession would be best as a complement to the necromancer in hotjoin pvp and WHY?
Thanks!
As a new Necro, I just wanted to say thanks for posting these builds – it is obvious that you are well educated on the profession and the help is appreciated. People should learn how to disagree without getting emotional!
