Shadowstep & Fall Damage? plz make so i can jump off edges and survive or make everyone equal on fall damage !
Alright then:
1. Give everyone access to stealth/shadowstep/steal/daggerstorm/backstab+cloak&dagger
2. Give everyone access to portal/bank/timewarp/shatters/mantras
3. Give everyone access to 100b/phalanx strength/shout heals/banners
4. Give everyone access to turrets/kits/static discharge
5. Give everyone access to pets/entangle
6. Give everyone access to virtues/Books (Guardian Ulti)/spirit weapons/shouts
7. Give everyone access to necro minions/wells/spectral walk/lich form/death shroud
8. Give everyone access to meteor storm/tornado/elemental weapons/attunements/elemental petsEveryone clearly needs to be able to use those as well as take the Necromancer’s reduced fall damage.
Also make sure #9 is followed as well.
9. Give everyone access to all weapon types/armor types (heavy/med/light)
Wait, isn’t that the original Guild Wars?
Here is what I am expecting:
-Axe #1 dmg buff
-Axe #2 slight cd reduction
-A buff on bone fiend
-Stability on a Spectral skill (possibly on spectral armor) [our main problem in PVP right now is our lack of stability.]
-Retaliation on a Spectral skill (possibly on Spectral Walk)
-A big change on Foot in the Grave
-And small changes on some adept and master traits, basically giving regen or other defensive boons.
I am not expecting to see anything that will help us to have a place in pugs, but I am pretty sure they will give us some sort of stability so we can at last stomp someone without getting disrupted.
The main problem I see with this build is, there is too much Uncertainity.
While crippling the enemy and kiting him from max range sounds goods, there are many gap closers which can both take your opponent close to you or let them escape from your range. Controlling an enemy on range is very kittence you lose your upper hand, there are many builds that can melt you down in a few seconds.
Second problem is condition removal.Signet of Reneval is not enough against condition builds IMO.
And finally, even with all improvements on AI, I don’t trust the pet at all… I think the spirit ranger would be better than this build if the purpose is duelling.
I am thinking of trying something like that. I tried running stone spirit with LB and i was pretty amazed how it works (even though spirits die pretty fast in all those aoe fields).
With new buffs on axe and LB, i think i can get perma protection with axe aa. If worst happens, I have 6 sec of invulnerability to run back and switch to LB.

Please make it happen ANET.
For pvp, the key of being a good player is knowing your priorities. You should always consider what would be more beneficial to your team.
Also knowing the weaknesses of your build is really important. Sometimes you can win fights by running away.
For WvW, i think ranger is subpar. We lack aoe skills on ranged weapons and pets still die instantly in zerg fights. For roaming, the main problem is disengaging the enemy. If a thief, mes or warrior roamer realizes that he will lose the fight, he can use a few tricks to run away safely. But for us, it is hard to run away from an enemy. The only advice i can give to a roaming ranger is to be aware of your surroundings and try to understand what your opponent is doing.
Lets talk about WvW,
I don’t have a 80 lvl thief, my highest lvl thief was 40 lvl and I leveled her on WvW. I don’t know anything 1v1 situations with thief and which build would do good or bad. But there is one thing i can say: If a thief decides to run away, no one can stop them. You can’t even imagine how many hammer warriors or mesmers i dodged on WvW. Thief has the option to run away more than any other class.
Now, this is OP. But by OP, I don’t mean Thief is godly or needs any nerf. There are other classes who don’t have the same flexibility of engaging or disengaging with enemy and I can actually empathize other players who can’t catch a low level thief for 15 minutes.

Proposal Overview
Fortifying Bond should work both ways
Goal of Proposal
To make pets somewhat more important on teamplay
Proposal Functionality
Bearbows… People hate them. Hell, even I hate them. They send their bear in the fight and do moderate damage, not helping team at all. But this can change. Why dont we make the pet into a boon hub?
If fortifying bond works bot ways, a melee pet could get boons for his master. Ranger could do better damage from wherever she is and maybe it would even be useful in wvw!
Associated Risks
I am sure we can exploit this trait more than a few ways, but again we do that to anything. Also, with this, we are giving bearbows some good excuse which might be a bad idea.
Even though i really liked the stowing the pet and getting some kind of aspect with bonus damage, i really liked the idea of aura giving unattackable pets too.
Actually this reminds me the gwen at pre-ascalon in gw1. Do you remember buying her a flute and letting her follow you? She would heal you +20 while playing her flute and never take aggro, always staying beside you. I would love to have a small pet that would give me small buffs. Cuteness would be a bonus. I honestly want a squirrel that follows me and giving me some buff
I am really surprised with 90% of these posts. They show that most players just do not know how to play a ranger.
- Pets do not die if you play well (not in Wurrm, Teq or any fractals 50)
Wrong.
1) Mai trin, unleash the cannons. Last 30 seconds (means you can swap pet only once). Even if you call return me, pet would still move into red circles and dieing eventually.
2) Aetherblade Fractal, Frizz. Last 3 phases. Even though easier than Mai Trin, pets is likely to die.
3) Molten furnace fractal, weapon test. Pet wont stack with group, it is probably gonna die.
4) Volcanic fractal, Legendary Grawl Shaman. Your pet won’t move around to save itself from burning. It will probably die.
Now, you can probably save your pet at 2,3 and 4 with extensive care. But why do ranger has to take extensive care to do normal damage? This is the question here. And I would love to see you save your pet in Mai Trin. If you can, at fractal 30 and higher, please take 2 screenshots at the start and at the end of unleash the cannons part with time stamps on and show me that your pet do not die.

Proposal Overview: Make design team play a ranger for one week
Goal of Proposal:
To make designers understand the problems Rangers have on WvW and to create better solutions
Proposal Functionality:
I don’t know how many designers play active ranger and how many of them play WvW, but right now, rangers have a big disadventage on WvW. Warrior LB builds does much better than any ranger zerg builds and this is a huge disappointment for most of us. If a designer would accept my proposal and play a ranger in WvW for one week, I am sure he will understand the weak points and the injustice between other classes.
Associated risks:
After one week of try, designers might actually delete the whole class
Hey guys, I am not really good at sword AA and I think, it is time for me to try other weapons. So i grab a greatsword and tried to do some damage.
The thing is, both wilderness survival and nature magic has GS traits and i couldn’t decide which way to go to be more useful. Can i get some advice on veteran GS rangers?
Builds I am going trying:

BUMP!!!!!!!!!!!
I really can’t see your point. Here is a post from Allie asking for feedback in page 2.
Hey everyone,
Thanks for the feedback so far! I have some requests:
- Please keep the feedback focused on Ranger.
- In your feedback, please tell us what area of the game you play the most (PvE/WvW/sPvP).
- If possible, include stats on how much you play in each of those areas too.
- Please include the profession you play the most, even if it isn’t Ranger.
- Most importantly, Pleased keep your feedback as concise as possible. Using special formatting is really nice if your post is a long one.
Thanks,
Allie
Hey there
I am playing 80% PvE and 20% WvW. Basicly doing daily things (Tequatl, fractals and Achievements) and directly go to WvW for some bow action.
Main problems I came across on PvE is;
1) Pets do love red circles: For example, the encounter with Captain Mai Trin at the end of a fractal run. It is imposible for my pet to survive the “Unleash the cannons” part and when it dies, i am forced to play my second pet for 59 seconds. I am almost certanly lose the second pet too, in the process of killing Mai resulting a broken pet change cycle for the rest of the boss fight.
2)Sword Problems: My main hand sword killed me more than any other thing in the game. I die a bit every time my party send to Thaumanova Reactor or Uncategorized Fractal. Not being able do broke sword#1 chain and staying in the enemy aoe is terrible.
3)Bow Problems: There is some hate against longbow/bear rangers and I totally understand the reason behind this. So i thought, maybe if Fortifying Bond worked both ways, bow builds would be more viable. A pet in front can share boons with the ranger in the back. The boons ranger get from the bond can be a bit weaker in duration for balance issues. This would also grant great synergy with, for example Companion’s might or Bountiful Hunter.
4)For WvW: I do agree there should be improvement on longbow skills, signets and shouts. Longbow is too hard to maintain; you often have to fall behind your zerg to do optimum damage and with evade and gap closer skills, it fails its purpose to do long range damage. Signets are giving benefits to only pets and pets often get killed in crossfire within a few seconds. And shouts are, not good compared to warrior or guardian shouts. If warrior shouts are offensive and guardian shouts are defensive, ranger shouts should be based on utility giving vigor and swiftness.
In zerg, the whole point is to support your group and fight as one. To snipe, as far as i understand is dealing damage on single foe. But on zerg, this is irrevelant. Zerg fights are done with aoe dmg, that is why most people think ranger is bad on wvw and that is why i explained how i played in zerg.
On the other hand, you can roam in wvw with a longbow i belive, sniping people alone, but i dont think you will be any succesful, considering every melee class has multiple gap closers in this game.
Staying 1500+ range behind zerg and trying to snipe is a bad idea, not only because you will be focused by everyone but also, your piercing arrows will be useless since you are on the edge of your range.
…“to support your group and fight as one” Yet earlier you said your biggest problem with LB was not enough XP or bags. So adding Torment solved that problem. You’re still not adding very much to “support your group” Sorry, but a LB Ranger isn’t a support class.
I would very much argue that a LB Ranger can support better by protecting the big hitters in the back. Glass Ele’s and Necros. If you keep the Thieves away then your glass cannons can keep blasting, healing and CC.
This is far the worst misunderstanding i have ever seen
First of all, doing aoe dmg is our point. I am telling we need to do aoe and support eachother with boons. I do deal torment and then enter fight with warhorn and sword to give boons to allies and recieve them back. LB ranger is not a damage class for sure, since our damage is noticeably low compared to our variants. But as i said before, it is not the deal. All you have to do is aoe’s since the aoe’s are what kills enemies in zerg fights.
LB with its current state can not be a main weapon for ranger. It has long cooldown for its autoattcak, has ridiculous damage at low range, barrage makes you stand at a point and rapid fire takes too long to deal damage it is often get evaded easily. Using lb as a secondary weapon and entering the wvw with more viable sword/smthing is really more reasonable. Not only because more damage output, but also because you receive boons from your zerg and you can give your spotter a good use.
Secondly; it is not nice to pull a word from the comment and talk about it like it is the main thing.
Thirdly; as i said above, you can only deal damage to melee tanks if you stand 1500 range, since glass eles or necros are not up on front. If you come and stack with zerg, then you are again insta dead…
And last of all, MY biggest problem was exp and bags. BUT IT IS STILL TRUE THAT ZERG FIGHTS ARE ALL ABOUT SUPPORTING YOUR GROUP AND FIGHTING AS ONE. I cant see the revelance between me wanting more wvw experience and bags and the way how zerg should play.

If I am running with the zerg, the main problem with LB is not the damage. Honestly, I think in zergs, damage is never the real problem. What i lacked was the aoe abilities to get more bags/wvw experience. Even if I get the piercing arrows, the aoe dmg is so limited that the sniping is actually not worth the time i put on it.
Then i tried adding a Sigil of Torment to my LB and i think now i do far better in wvw. Torment stays for 8 seconds so even though i have a power build, it last enough for me to enter battle. I just try to spread as much torment as possible in zerg fights and then enter the combat with sword/warhorn which gives me more damage output and ability to escape from danger (Sword 2 and LB has many good combinations that can save my life).
After my limited play on my ranger, I am truely convinced that the ranged weapons didn’t get the required attention in the development phase.
I know this two are completely different games and it is not very healty to compare them, but my expectations of Ranger was high from original Guild Wars. On GW, we have 5 kinds of bows with different range options and animations and almost all of them are needed for a ranger. A ranger can kite a melee character rather easily and rangers have active role in both pve and pvp. In GW2, Ranger can hardly do anything at all. Sword deals some nice damage, but it turned my asuran ranger into a master yoda wannabe, jumping around and often falling down in narrow spaces…
What I want to offer is,
1) Lets give longbows a pasive %10 armor penetration like hornbow in GW.
2) Both longbow and shotrbow skills should be redesigned considering the fact that every melee class has multiple gap closers and it is imposiible right now to survive against a melee.
3)Archer’s signet and Apply Poison from GW1. For any viable condition build, we deffinitely need them in my opinion.
The real problem with the legendary weapons is, they are soulbound on use.
I do agree that a complex chain of quests would be much more fun to acquire a legendary weapon, but still anyone who grinds enough money is able to break this chain and obtain a legendary in this case. I would not feel all right if someone just pays for gems and buys out the legendary that I spent my hours to get.
Hey guys.
Here is the build I came up with after doing 50+ twilight arbor. What do you think of it and do you have any recomendations?

And here is the thought process behind some decisions;
Traits:
15 points on soul reaping helps you to stay in death shroud longer.
Vampiric Rituals: Well skills has long cooldowns and short durations, so giving 25 points to blood magic and getting last gasp is more useful in my opinion.
Equipment:
Condition Dmg > Toughness = Precision > All others
For runes; the main priority is condition duration:
2x Superior Rune of the Krait
2x Superior Rune of the Afflicted
2x Superior Rune of Lyssa
Why not Rune of the Centaur: %5 bleed duration decrease is worth 25 precision (and 25 power from centaur is irrevelant)
Sigils:
For Scepter: Superior Sigil of Earth
For Dagger: Superior Sigil of Accuracy
Skills:
Spectral walk: 30 seconds of swiftness is helpful. This skill is a stun breaker so it helps a lot in dungeons. Also if used correct, teleport option can save you from agro.
Plague: 20 seconds of blind
