I play a lot of competitive games and I’ve never seen the competitive arena(ranked) be disabled, EVER..

This just makes gw2 seem so casual.

PvP is dead, have a nice vacation Anet while PvP seizes to exist.
WvW is not being supported as they said, PvP is being molested even thought they “would support it”…

You Anet really have no clue about PvP, SO STOP TRYING TO PUSH PVP IF YOU’RE NOT GOING TO DO IT RIGHT!

Given custom arenas have hardly taken off, they need more ways to monetize pvp. It sucks they’ve chosen this route, but can see why.

Anet is the reason why PvP didn’t “hit it off” though, they spoke so much about Gw2 eSport and hyped so many professional teams for it, but when it all came down to it, nothing happened, kittenty spectator system and poor balance made sure Anet kittened up for themselves, and in turn because of THEIR kitten-up, we’re forced to change monetization model for PvP..

You’re missing something here.

Gw was released when eSport was on a lull, there was no “competitive balance” or “casual balance”, but now in 2014 where eSport is on a high you can pin-point fairly easy what game will be which balance, will it cater to the casuals or the competitors?

This change moves from being competitive to being casual, unlocking stuff is NOT an achievement, it’s a TIME SINK designed to make people feel a false sense of achievement, meaningthey spend more time in-game.

You’re also missing something very important, THE GAME HAS BEEN OUT FOR OVER A YEAR, changing the core balance of SPvP from competitive to casual AFTER people have bought the game for the competitive balance is kittenED.

You’re saying they lack resources to split SPvP and the rest, but since beta SPvP HAS been split from WvW and PvE, so I am not sure what you’re getting at.

Saying no one plays SPvP is just a flat out lie though.

Casual balance = Based off of unlocking access to in-game equipment, for instance

Good, but you wouldn’t be ok with it if it was completely changed 1 year after release when you’ve bought one game with a certain competitive balance, and then it’s removed to make way for casual balance, as a competitive player this is a deal-breaker.

Competitive balance = equality, for instance in Counter-Strike there are no one with a stronger AWP than you, or for instance in Dota2 there are no one with a more powerful Zeus than you, or a better Rapier..

Casual balance = Based off of unlocking access to in-game equipment, for instance League of Legends where you are forced to unlock in-game content to play with the same access to in-game equipment as the professionals(not that Gw2 has pros lol), this is a time sink and only made to make people feel a false sense of accomplishment, because there’s no real accomplishment in playing 10 games to earh 3g to unlock something, it’s just a time sink.

Competitive balance is the model most suited for Gw2 since it has been this way since beta, changing it half-way through almost makes me want to get a refund for my money, because I bought Gw2 for the PVP ONLY, because it was competitively viable, something other games like AO or WoW failed horribly at, now.. Arenanet has failed as well.

Stupid change is stupid, but then again I never expect much from Anet after beta period where they praised Gw2 eSport so highly, and here we are.. nothing happened.

My situation: I don’t have gold, so when I go into PvP now I will be met by players who have spent gold gaining access to in-game equipment which I don’t have, meaning I am at a disadvantage in terms of access to in-game equipment, meaning the other player is at an advantage.

This is the same kittened balance that League of Lesbians have, and it’s the opposite of competitive balance which is balanced around EQUALITY, there is no equality if people have to purchase equipment in PvP, just like there is no equality in LoL because people have to unlock access to in-game equipment.

Gw2 PvP is now no longer about skills, but who has spent more money to gain the things you(or I for that matter) do not have.

Well, yet another blow to the PvP scene.
I had hopes that Anet had understood.

My hopes were of no avail, yet again, just like in beta when they spoke so highly of Gw2 eSport, now they show it once again, one year later, that they have no clue about PvP.

Good job anet, you just lost a hardcore PvPr here.

Has there been any news on this the past 6 months or what?
I heard the devs talk about competitive Gw2 PvP and whatnot, so where is the spectator mode and replay system?

Everyone knows you can’t do a competitive game unless you have at least a spectator system and replay system, make it happen.

Edit: Sad part is, I saw a Gw player mention that GW had replays and spectator, and yet Gw2 does not..

Esports blog where?

I’ll stick to GW2 for now, maybe I’ll give it another week, I hope the eSports blog will be out soon or I will be switching BACKWARDS, grom Gw2 to gw, I’ve never gone backwards before but all the praise I hear from gw players makes me believe they really had something good going on.

I’ve been waiting for the so-called PvP/eSports blog for a way too long period of time now, and it’s starting to make me doubt Anet.

Still nothing, I feel like the topic of esports should’ve been up by now, not just a rumour of it.

Hello, a few days ago there was a guy from Anet on a stream saying that the fabled eSports blog was in the phase of translation, I just have to mention that you don’t need to translate it to anything but English, JUST RELEASE IT!

I believe people are growing steadily tired of waiting, especially since it’s close to 3 weeks that it was going to be out “in a few days”..

Get your move on, I love your game but some times you’re a bit too slow for my own liking, if anything you shouldn’t have said anything about the blog and just done it, instead of raising everyone’s expectations for 3 weeks only to let us find…

I am 80 so the level thing is not the issue, and who ever said they never leave Mists that doesn’t matter as it happens even on relogs.

I want this fixed, it has happened more than a few times that I haven’t checked traits, and BLAM it hits me why I am under-performing..

I have to ask as it wasn’t mentioned in the patch, are people still experiencing random trait resets in the Mists or have they sneaky-fixed it?

PS: Went in an out of mists 10 times, it still randomly resets traits.:s

You have probably heard about Valve, they go by the same policy and I respect it more than others, it’s done when it’s done.

I love my Elementalist and I am not changing what so ever, most of the complaints can be filed under whaaaaaaaaaawhwaaaaaaaaaaaaaa I can’t 2 shot whaaaaaaaaaa.

I do dislike the 2222222222222 spamming thieves, but that’s ok, I am being just as annoying to everyone else, except I use like 50 spells in 10 sec.

Considering you suggested to remove DBNO form PvP, I call this a troll thread.

I just wanted to let you know that the top PvP title Ascendant is also being given out as HOM rewards for GW players.
I suggest changing the top PvP title to something that better states where you are in the progression of PvP, such as “Master of the Mists” (since it is the top title) or something along those lines.
