Well.. this says a lot about GW2. I wonder if our own economist is brave enough to argue this piece of text.
ANet would have to revamp the whole zone for me to be impressed by F&F now b/c for the past 3 months it’s been very underwhelming. 2 months of teasers and apparently last month the story was supposed to really kick off. Well it didn’t.
Sadly I agree with OP. We got a mission for both new characters and now we suddenly have a last mission. It feels like ANet stretched a normal content update into 4 long months. I feel like I got MUCH more to do during Halloween or Wintersday updates than here.
Imo calling those updates after living story is a bad idea b/c LS is just a small part of the real dish which are the new features like guild missions, spvp etc.
What SAb showed us a smaller team than LS team managed to make a bigger impact on the game than 3 months of the F&F updates. i think this shows how slow or lazy the living story team is.
From the design perspective this whole storyline is bad. Asking people to run and click on sign posts is boring. telling people: go and find 2-4 items somewhere in 2 big zones is terrible gameplay. With no clues, no direction, just go and search for gold stars on the ground. Is this what you learned to do during gw2’s development? I expected something more from ANet b/c this is a design from 15 years ago.
Sadly since patch which was supposed to help with culling it got worse for me too. maybe it improved in WvW but pve suffered. It gets ridiculous and ANet should do something with it. It feels like the core of the game is broken and sadly they won’t get any money from me ever again if they won’t fix it.
I think GW1 had more imaginative lore than gW2. it might have been simpler but there was more interesting elements to it. I feel like the only thing those new writers added to gW universe was boring dragon element.
I usually have some fun with stories at the start. Pre lvl 30. but after Trehaerne gets introduced I loose all interest. GW2 transforms into boring 1 dimensional fanfic level storyline about evil dragons and boring characters with no depth.
Sylvari and charr story lines before lvl 30 are actually quite interesting and there are a few nice characters with some kind of personality. but anything after that is terrible.
Sadly they aren;t even that good from gameplay perspective. most of the time it’s kill everything in sight but do it slowly b/c the mission must last x-minutes. then come back to npc to talk and go back to almost the same place you’ve been to. There are moments when i spend more time in loading screens than doing story line.

I sure hope not. If “Dragons attack and all races must unite to defeat them” is the highest of his imagination when it comes to lore I think there are 50 times better writers than him.
If I’m not mistaken we should be getting blog post with specifics of January the 28th update. So this is a question mainly to mods/devs.

My fav reply. And then waiting 3 weeks for the translation. you would think ANet writes blog posts so sophisticated that translators need days to translate just 1 sentence.
Sometimes it feels like NCSoft should reorganize ANet and fire like 20% of the stuff b/c they are wasting time writing blog posts about nothing.
So according to many pvp in gw2 is dead. I agree. Why are you asking for all those updates then? I don’t think that even a perfect pvp update can help pvp now. people won’t come back unless ANet start making some big tournaments and I seriously doubt they will be spending that much money on it. So what is even a point of trying to reanimate something which is dead. ANet move those resources to pve and wvw where people actually play and you can get some money back. B/c you won’t be earning your investments back from those 200 players playing spvp.
If I’m not mistaken February update will be mostly for WVW and January will be a small update to prepare us for February. Does it mean we shouldn’t expect anything interesting for pve’s at least until march?
All legendary items will have the stats of the highest tier in the game. All new legendaries and all old ones.
GW2 wasn’t against progression. it was against tedious, incredibly time consuming progression unless it was optional stuff. If Ascended gear isn’t incredibly hard to obtain then it is fine. If people complain when this gear isn’t that hard to obtain then they are hypocrites b/c they should have been already complaing about rare>exotic gear progression for the past 2 months.
They did add new things to the zones last patch and they are going to add new things this patch. Wait long enough and the old zones will feel a little bit different and ready for an alt. You can’t expect them to revamp whole zones each patch. People you are getting ridiculous.
We got a new level 80 zone that isn’t Risen. Why can’t everyone be happy about that?
QFT. This patch seems massive and yet we are here complaining that the world is ending. just like before Halloween.

Why do you think ANet made Guild Wars 2? I remember them saying that they wanted to improve progression in the game. That is why we have 80 levels and not 20 and they wanted to make a game which can be expanded more easily with e. higher lvls. So yea you should expect higher lvles in expansions.
here are mine: Only a little bit of saturation increase + sharpen + aa. Looks wonderfully =] I turned off pp effects in game to even further increas crispness of the image.
Well, as long as they don’t create a LFG tool like the one in that-other-mmo-we-don’t-talk-about because that killed the social part of grouping for dungeons.
People would just open LFG, wait a few minutes, run the dungeon as fast as possible and leave. That’s not how an MMO should be played.
Last sunday I was chatting with another player while we waited for other people to join our group and he/she invited me to join his/her guild which I accepted. This would never happen with a LFG tool.
On the contrary today I spend 40 min lf 1 last person for dungeon and we disbanded and stopped playing the game for the rest of the evening highly annoyed. yea that’s such a wonderful thing.
The game is less than 2 months old and it’s already taking forever to find groups so I can’t imagine not implementing some kind of lfg tool to the game. otherwise dungeons will be dead in a matter of months.

I’m happy in next update there will be some camera fixes.. today I experienced it in an instance for some strange reason. camera became so incredibly unresponsive.
ANet will ignore this post as all the others about FoV.
PS is terrible in game. I thought it was a nice addition but now i think it actually takes away from the game b/c ANet wasted resources on amateurish writing, characters with no depth and bad pacing. few characters which could get interesting are killed off for mechanical reasons (it would cost ANet too much to keep them with branches in storyline etc.), missions are too short with constant loading screens or too long which made me fall asleep. Mind you I still didn’t finish the whole PS but I simply don’t feel like doing it. I absolutely think that if this is the level of storytelling ANet wants to have in expansions they should stop bothering with it. Put all this money in other spaects of the game which are actually good instead of wasting it on people who write like they are in high school.
Zhaitan isn’t even a good bad guy. it is like fighting a bad weather. Sure it sucks but we can’t say it has any kind of depth or motivation or… character. it’s just bad thing. At least in GW1 we had a White Mantle, then Lich, Shiro, Abaddon.
gW1 didn’t have incredible story but it was still miles better than what we have here. i strongly believe ANet was too ambitious here. they wanted to have all those branching story lines for each race and end up with disjointed, boring stories.

ANet has been ignoring this issue for a very long time which is kind of strange considering how “in touch” they pretend to be with the community.
hm? Where did you hear about Act 2 being an update with 2 dungeons?
it’s strange b/c I actually like storylines outside personal storyline.
I decided to repost it from another forum where I wrote it just a few moments ago.
I just finished one of the larger battles in the game and I have to say I am disappointed. Overall I feel like ANet didn’t learn anything from GW1 in terms of storytelling. the characters are uninteresting, have nothing worthwile to say and most of the time quite bad voice acted. Just now I heard npc talking about how he lost all his friends to the undead. mind you they were killed like 5 min earlier. no emotion, nothing.
the structure of the mission was lacking too. I felt like a delivery boy running from1 npc to another in the middle of an assault. Sometimes the objectives weren’t very clear. go to the center of the plaza, said green text. When I got there.. nothing I started killing random things and after 5 min something triggered a cutscene.
there were a few ok characters, but before they got really interesting they were usually gone and replaced by someone else.
This whole destiny’s edge story is boring and badly executed. the quarells of those 5 characters feel like watching 10 year old kids at elementary school.
I feel like ANet should simply admit that they suck at creating storylines and don’t waste resources ever again on creating things like this. It simply is not working considering almost every review said that personal storyline is the worst part of the game. It seems like it is ok that they added it but imo they simply wasted resources. they could have created like twice as many dynamic events instead.
I like the game but imo ANet is dropping the ball after release so I don’t think they really deserve it.
Today i was playing and whenever I shattered my illusions or phantasms their weapons stayed in the world. I could even click on them. It happens almost all the time. sometimes even those weapons stay half way with animation eg. surrounded by purple beam etc. They disappear after 5 or more seconds.
I’m on medium populated server and have no problem meeting players (currently <50 lvl). And the game IS better when there are 2-5 players doing an event than 30. Event scaling at 30 players was terrible while with few players they are much better.
Tsaritsin thanks this is exactly what I meant but you put it in better words. As you said it is not only armours but also mechanics, abilities etc. When i was lvling up in d&d I was so excited b/c i always knew that next lvl will bring something exciting and new to play with. I think ANet was afraid to go this way b/c of pvp imo.
As you said I also agree that it is fixable and I believe some day they will do it.
What I mean. Basically when you reach lvl 30 you get the last interesting rewards, elite skill. After that lvling becomes meaningless. We always knew that at the end we are supposed to strive to get cosmetic armours and weapons but it really feels like it is not enough. besides that Legendary weapons require such an incredibly amount of time that I bet most players won’t even bother.
Imo the game lacks something in between. Some carrot on a stick which do not require 300h of grinding but at the same time it feels like an achievement when you get it.
Special unique skill when you do a specific event, guild halls and houses are a good reward too. We simply need something like: man only 20 more hours and I will get this cool thing.
Anybody else feels the same?
I have a feeling they can’t say that they allow such tool b/c then it opens door for other harmful programs, but I seriously think they shouldn’t ban for this. That would be ridiculous.
Seriously can we get an answer WHY we aren’t getting FoV slider in game? People have been talking about it for half a year and yet no answer from anybody at Net, kind of curious if you ask me.
If we create enough threads about this issue they will finally feel obligated to answer us.
I’m lvling up slower than many others and I just now finished Gendarran fields. For 2 day i am trying to do daily achievements and am forced to go to WvW to do 5 DEs. Why? B/c almost all des in gendarran fields do not work. I changed map to that snowy 25-40 zone. 1st thing? Bugged de. 2nd thing? bugged skill challenge. Seriously I can’t even finish 5 des in pve (I spend 40 minutes searching those zones). that is quite terrible for a game 1 month after release. I’m on Piken Square.
Why is this even in the game? I thought mouse smoothing was only in crappy console ports. ANet as always tries to improve something which isn’t broken.
Am i the only one who read OP before hitting reply button? he said he wants to ‘talk’ about content patches means he simply needs more communication. That is somehow getting translated to ‘i want it now’ by fans.
Don’t bother. most people apparently don’t bother to read. I’m not even going to argue with this kind of players.
I’m not talking about expansion. I’m talking about content patches, like adding new de’s to existing zones. This is what ANet promised and I simply would like them to deliver.
And sorry but there will always be bugs in mmo. If you want them to fix most of them before releasing anything else you will wait for a years.
ANet keeps saying how they are going to blow out of the water all other mmos when it comes to patches. Last time like 1 or 2 weeks ago in some interview. So yes I expect them to start talking about content patch soon b/c p2p mmos usually have their 1st one max 2 months after release. I simply expect them to live up to what they keep saying.
It’s been 1 month since release. If ANet wants to keep saying how they can compete with p2p mmos it’s time to start talking about 1st content patch. I doubt anyone will take them seriously if they will wait 3 months for 1st patch.
