The video that convinced me to play S/D before it was cool

It amazed me they secretly buffed it from 20 to 50 vitality per stack. Certainly a strong buff now, but indeed, other ranks should give things as useful imo.

Thieves can actually put 10 in trickery for Thrill of the Crime and use a targetless Steal next to the yak to give it swiftness. Also, stealthing the yak is probably the best defense you can do when small groups want to hit it.

I find thief a bit lacking in camp defense versus multiple enemies though. Once the supervisor drops, there’s not much you can do since being in stealth makes your opponents get the cap. You could try to rez the supervisor with Shadow Refuge and that can sometimes buy you enough time to get some friends in to help clear the camp.

I’ve recently switched from S/D to D/P just for the survivability in stealth. I’m still learning and I’m certainly not the best thief around, but D/P gives you all the stealth you need, on demand, it’s a huge advantage in outnumbered situations.

Another advantage is D/P probably has the best gap closers of any thief set. HS a few times to get in range and the 3rd skill will keep you on top of your target, I love it!

P/D with 30 in SA would work I guess! Great survivability with healing in stealth, get some +bleeding/cond duration runes to boost pistol damage

I use that build for S/D with mostly Berserker’s gear and a few Soldier’s pieces. The damage on it is more than decent and you get good survivability from the extra dodges.

Mug’s damage has recently been nerfed though and I can’t stop thinking those 25 points in the power line could better be spent elsewhere now…

Basically what Frenk said, Shortbow is win in zerg. Spam cluster bombs and auto in between, with power and crit gear you’ll do nice damage and support with all the blast finishers. Bags will be all over the place

EDIT: Wanted to mention that without having the blind powder. I could not take a camp solo. After the nerf D/D + S/D could not solo a camp. You need X/P as balanced thief.

I’ve been soloing camps pre- and post-patch with shortbow and Dagger Storm just fine. Drop a few poison fields, spin to win, finish off the scouts first and kite the melees!

Before the game released, I decided on a sylvari thief main, but I like Asura sooo much better! I rerolled my thief to Asura and never regretted it Animations, storyline, roll Asura and never look back!

Short bow is very viable on a thief, especially versus multiple foes. If you combine that with a Pistol/Dagger condition damage build, you have some nice synergies with the poison field and cluster bomb bleeds from the short bow. P/P is a bit lackluster because your 3 attack scales better with power, while the auto attack needs condition damage to get in some dps… But if you’re okay with running 1 melee attack (dagger 5), go for P/D and don’t look back

So, you’ve told us about obtaining ascended gear through an improved achievement system, and also that you’re bringing new gear to WvW. Will this latter include ascended gear too?

I don’t mind toes sticking out if they all stick out, the medium cultural sets do it right: showing or hiding all three toes. It does look strange however on ALL medium dungeon sets, where you have one toe in the boot and the two on the side of the foot sticking out…

Pick the Scout profession and use the 5th skill before you pick up the gift, it gives you 10 seconds of swiftness which really helps.

Scout is also great to get the other achievement, load up the snipe skill on a carrier at 60-70% health and he’s down. I got both achievements in under 20 games by playing scout

Same problem here, I enabled the authenticator this morning (CET) and getting disconnected quite often…

Another one for combo (male) is “What a clever combination!” I think
