Turtle’s Defence – gain protection while stunned, chilled, crippled, knocked down ect.
Thick Skin – protection is up until you’re brought below 90% health. This would suit the name Thick skin much better.
Way overpowered.
10% of your HP, but since you’re only taking 33% of all damage, that means the enemies actually have to deal damage worth 30% of your HP. That plus the original 90% comes to a total of 120%. So you want a trait that gives the highest hp class in the game a +20% hp boost? For 5 points into a trait line? Are you nuts?
Swap Versatile Rage and Fast hands making fast hands more accessible to builds. It is a very good minor trait that should be easier to obtain.
Ok, now you’re just trolling. Fast Hands is not “a very good minor trait”, it’s “a freaking awesome minor trait”. Putting it at 5 points would be like putting Forceful Greatsword or Quick Breathing or Vigorous Shouts at 5 points.
Reckless Dodge – grants vigor for 10 seconds after you dodge.
Oh come on. Another 5 point trait that you want to give a ridiculous boost? Do you realize that in 10 seconds with Vigor, you will regenerate a full endurance bar?
What makes you think trait placement was based on how good the trait is? There are plenty of XI & XII traits that are worse than I,II,III,IV,V,VI Traits. I was under the impression the traits were placed the way they are to restrict certain builds. Its quite clear that warriors have been shackled too tight with these restrictions and their suffering for it in wvw/pvp. If you think moving fast hands up a tier is over powered because it is a better trait than versatile rage than I say you’re nuts, a troll or someone who does not want to see warriors improved.
As for my proposal to Thick skin, most warriors have around 20-26k health. Thats 2000-2600 dmg that needs to be done to get below 90%. Granted 33% dmg mitigation with high armor could make it a kitten to dmg through those 2-2.6 k health. Easy fix, place this trait in the 3rd minor trait slot placing it deep into defense. Now you limit it to bunker builds. Currently you can go 30 defense + 30 tactics and there is absolutely nothing bunker about it. Its depressing how fast we die with our full “defensive” build.
I joined a match with Anet guys and didn’t notice any warriors. One was a necro, couple thieves, an elementalist and a mesmer if I recall.
Here is a fun trait that I just came up with in 5 seconds:
Blind Retribution: Heal whenever your blinded.Turtle’s Defense: Gain Protection for 2 seconds when crippled, chilled, stunned or immobilized. (5 second cool-down.)
Embrace the Pain: Gain Adrenaline and Endurance when hit.
I was thinking along the same lines. There are some very weak minor traits which could be revamped to help us in PvP/WvW. Turtle’s Defence & Thick Skin are terribly underwhelming and do nothing to prolong the warrior’s life. Here are some of my suggestions:
Turtle’s Defence – gain protection while stunned, chilled, crippled, knocked down ect.
Thick Skin – protection is up until you’re brought below 90% health. This would suit the name Thick skin much better.
Adrenal Health – functions the same granting health ticks every 3 seconds. Add another component that heals the player & 5 others within 600 range for an amount that scales with each stack of adrenaline when a burst ability is used. This will provide a perk for using burst abilities.
Fast Healer – change to Fast Feet granting 15% movement bonus. (warrior’s sprint stacks, but only when using melee still) Swap this with Determined revival making it more accessible to builds.
Reviver’s Might – change to Reviver’s boon which heals both players & grants protection for 3 seconds when you revive an ally.
Swap Versatile Rage and Fast hands making fast hands more accessible to builds. It is a very good minor trait that should be easier to obtain.
Reckless Dodge – grants vigor for 10 seconds after you dodge.

This has been happening to me as well, most notably in WvW or PvP.
Some of my specs:
Windows 7
Logitech M570 wireless mouse
X Mouse (Software that lets you bind keys to the mouse wheel)
Hopefully this thread gets enough attention that Anet looks into the issue.
Culling may be fixed on the 26th, lets hope so. Anet stated skill lag will not be fixed by this patch and that is a separate issue. Everyone is effected by skill lag and culling, but melee classes that require to be within 130 range and time their abilities are at a SEVERE disadvantage in this scenario over other classes that don’t have to worry about positioning or range.
In the mean time I’ve switched to sword & warhorn + Longbow and I’m having a blast now. I retain my mobility, added some condition to my build which synergizes with both weapons and best of all its mindless. I did enjoy Hammer and the skill required to pull off chain CCing people, but right now its just frustrating because more often than not you’re using Earthshaker, #4 or #5 and completing missing then watching them go on cooldown.
I’ve given up on one of my favourite weapons in WvW which is the Hammer. I use to do ok before culling and lag was an issue and I have no issues using one in sPVP. Its long activation & animation times and #3 & #4 abilities planting your feet coupled with culling and skill lag make it nearly impossible to time them right in WvW.
Here’s my suggestion:
- Increase the range of auto attack and all Abilities to 150
- #3 & #4 no longer plant your feet, you can use while running
- #5 quicker activation
If you run warrior with 2 melee sets in WvW you’re pretty much going through a meat grinder. I run sword/warhorn out of necessity for the mobility along with a hammer. We have to sacrifice so much to get that mobility, and its not even that good when compared to other classes.
One change that would make me happy is if they could find a way to eliminate the need to get out of combat to switch to a longbow. I think I’d have a lot more fun if I had my sword/warhorn for roaming & mobility, My hammer for when its time to smash into the enemy and my longbow for siege defense and static encounters. Maybe change strong bowstrings calling it “Weapons Master” retaining the extended range for Long bow but also adding the ability to take it as a 3rd weapon.
I also posted an idea for Banner Warriors along the same idea. Make a banner replace your secondary weapon set when picked up. You can swap to mainhand weapon set while holding the banner and its stats still apply. With the new Weapons master trait you could effectively have mainhand weapon set, Longbow and the banner. This would be an extremely popular wvw build without making it too OP.
I’d prefer having the banner on my back and access to both weapon sets myself. We can keep dreaming. Giving warriors all the benefits of banners with both weapon sets would be way too good and everyone would take 30 tactics to get it. Perhaps if you made a trait in the defense 3rd trait slot that lets you wear a banner on your back and use both weapon sets it may fly. There has to be give and take and from what I’ve seen develoeprs almost always take more then they give.
The banner warrior in WvW is a great idea in theory, however in practice it just doesn’t work well. The reason being is the current pace of WvW which is very fast; mobility on the battlefield seems to be the key to winning.
The Issue:
Placing banners and picking them up works against the concept of being fast & mobile – It is a very cumbersome mechanic. Holding the banner to keep pace with your teammates and better control the buff aura insuring they receive them severely limits your abilities, and more importantly it just isn’t fun. Banner abilities are generic and extremely boring. Thats not an issue in itself though, Banner #2 & #3 are decent abilities.
The Suggested fix:
Make banners replace your Secondary weapon set when picked up. When you weapon swap it saps between the banner while it is active and your primary weapon set. Add a component to “Inspiring banners” that allows the stat bonuses (including regen if traited) to persist when you swap to your primary weapon set. This will make the banner warrior more interesting to play adding some more functionality & mobility while holding the banner. It will also maintain the concept of placing banners with ability #5 if you do like that play style or it works better in certain situations like sieges or PvE.
Mouse Wheel – Make the scroll up/down feature bindable for use with abilities.
Fight for your life – Make fight for your life abilities generic for all professions for balance.
If this isn’t a huge task please allow the mouse wheel scroll up/down function to be bindable for use with abilities.
Thanks!
Image is from 8:51 PM PST. SBi & JQ are very good at sharing things. I don’t blame them for what they’re doing. BG burst onto the T1 scene last week and its quite clear SBi & JQ both feel threatened by them. It would be embarrassing for either server to leave T1 and that alone could be why the #1 & #2 servers are “naturally” working together without any formal agreements between them.
One more thing, BG is in fact a Beast – one that is cornered and fighting for its life. The thing that SBi & JQ fail to realize is we grow stronger through the adversity created from fighting out manned on two fronts.

The hammer Adrenaline ability, Earthshaker, rarely hits or stuns in Wv3.
