Winter Outfits

You know, this is the Wintersday celebration. Might it not be a good idea to sell the winter outfits now?

You do actually want to sell your product, don’t you, ANet?

Meanwhile, ANet managed to allow us to salvage multiple items with one click. Well, done. Oh, wait, you still don’t offer us the option to include minor and major sigils and runes in “junk?”

Well, thanks anyway for trying.

No survivability left at all for the necro – even in PvE. Just spent 3 frustrating hours in AC only to die over twenty times. Absolute kitten move, ANet.

No more money from me. I don’t pay people to kitten me over.

I spent yesterday raging, but today I’m just depressed. My farming ritual felt less like purposeful farming than just miserable, meaningless grind. I spent almost no time in game. My main hasn’t been “nerfed” – it was taken behind the woodshed, sliced and diced with razors, gang-kitten d, and left to die in a heap of broken glass and salt.

Went to WvW to finish a daily and two FA caught me. Tried to run – no chance (everything is faster than a necro, even wielding dagger speed). Dead in a second. Couldn’t even react. No point in even trying.

I wonder if we will ever see the day ANet’s pet class, the “I can do everything you can do better” Mesmer gets its throat slashed like this.

Time to ply the spaceways. At least Frontier doesn’t make sure my Asp can’t use its shields…

2 gold for dailies-- did it work?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Raeat.1026

I have always done the dailies (when I could). Now that they are worth 2 gold I am even more fervent. Even after playing for years, I still find new content via the dailies. I think the 2 gold was a good idea just for that reason.

The game has a lot of content. Gold inspires the players to take in some of the stuff outside their normal routines. We all have played that game (whatever one it was – Rift for me) where we refined our activities to be maximally efficient and then promptly got bored to tears by our own meticulously devised routines.

Then 2 gold is nice, but the rewards go further than just the gold for me.

past PVE rewards plx?

Why a company would create content only to make it unavailable in any way for the players is beyond me. I mean, I can understand making things rare or hard to get – or even (grudgingly) dependent on a storyline, but completely unavailable at all, ever? Makes no sense to me.

How much art is in the dust bin?

Festivals for the Rest of Us

Raeat.1026

Now that Wintersday and the New year have been made primarily human festivals set in Divinity’s Reach, and now that we have SAB as an Asuran right of passage event, would it be possible to make events for the other races? Could Meatoberfest be expanded with competitive games and such in the Black Citadel? How about some sort of festival the multitude of animal spirits in Hoelbrak. A spring festival in the Grove might work, perhaps as an aspect of The Dream.

Even half-kittened festivals for Quaggans and Skritt (they are trying so hard to be taken seriously) would flesh out Tyria very nicely. Skritt toss anyone? I like this game world. I want to see it grow.

Not good with satire are you…

What I was really doing was complaining about the visual noise. Hence I used the words “visual noise.” I would have thought “That would be great. Thanks.” would also have been a clue, but I guess these weren’t overt enough.

ANet, could you give us a way to turn off other players’ visual noise – and those kitten ed jack in the box noises? And wings. Players should not be able to grief your ability to see the game by putting huge wings on a Charr. Sure they should be able to have them, but I don’t want to be forced to see them.

I remember when they made it so you could consume all of your essences of luck in one action (well for one value anyway). That was a wonderful thing they did, and I am grateful. But you know, that could be done with other things too – like similar treasure containers (open 5 option?), or even Piles of Silky Sand from the Silverwastes. Wouldn’t that be cool?

Wouldn’t it be awesome if there was a switch that lets us declare minor (and/or major) runes and sigils as “junk” that is to be sold when other junk is with the “Sell Junk” button, too?

I also noticed, as someone who hopes from guild hall to guild hall to harvest, that one can hop directly from Gilded Hollow to the Lost Precipice, and the reverse, but one cannot hop from one guild’s Gilded Hollow to another guild’s Gilded Hollow – but must instead spend loading screen time (twice) to get to the second Gilded Hollow. I assume the same is the case for Lost Precipice to Lost Precipice travel. Why are you mean like this, ANet?

Mini map cursor

Posted by: Raeat.1026

Raeat.1026

Honestly, I find the cursor to be too small even in the normal screen, especially when using targetable abilities. In WvW, I am dead before I can locate my cursor. I wish they would offer us an option to make it larger.

Yeah, my eyesight is failing, but could I at least have some fun before it is entirely gone?

Raeat.1026

Dear ANet,

In light of the jack in the box and spewing geyser harvesting tools (and other assorted visual noise harvesting tools), I was wondering if you could create a darkness themed harvesting tool that would cause everyone’s screen in the map to go inky dark (perhaps with swirling purple) for 10 seconds and have a Mad King maniacal laughter that drowns out all other game sound for the same duration? That would be great. Thanks.

DPS meter in game would be a "God Send"

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Raeat.1026

Raeat.1026

OP: No, it absolutely would not!

DPS meters only serve to let leet kids think they are better gamers than other players. And that always leads to players creating artificial divides between and exclusions between players. You can take any game where DPS meters dominate and the result is the same. People who think they are elite excluding other players from game play.

In Rift, I saw players posting DPS minimums as prerequisites for other players to be deemed worthy to join groups. That is a a community killer – always has been, always will be. Worse than just creating artificial tiers, it creates a barrier for newer players to gain access to the information needed to become players able to wield higher DPS. It creates an “elite” tier that is almost impossible to break into because the leet kids see their high DPS lore as some to be proud if and to hoard and protect at all cost, and as a reason to deride other player about.

Don’t let this happen to your game.

Toss-Up Resolved

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Raeat.1026

Well, it was a toss-up where my money was going to go: Rift or Guild Wars 2. Should I buy gems for Guild Wars 2 or should I buy credits for Rift?

I had been working on getting the full Carapace set via playing in the Silverwastes. OK, so four pieces can be purchased with bandit currency. One piece can be earned via participating in the Silverwastes events, but what about the leggings?

It turns out the only way to unlock the leggings is to purchase the Living world Season 2. Thanks for the ambush, ANet. You just decided for me where my money is going. To Rift. How many more more childish marketing ambushes can I look forward to with you? Smugly laughing it up while another player is feeling thoroughly abused? Your money-grubbing, ambush-oriented marketing strategy just failed you profoundly.

My money is going in Rift.

Raeat.1026

I am bitterly disappointed at this point, but part of that may be the gruesome aftertaste of seeing what lame garbage the Account Jump Start package had in it for that $35 price tag.

But the new expansion really screwed over small guilds. Before, at least we could earn some influence logging in and playing the game, but that’s now gone in favour of trying to get us to burn our other game and time assets. It was slow, but at least it was something. And some poor fools will spend money to get gold to purchase guild updates?

Seriously, ArenaNet, if you are going to money grub, at least develop something akin to touch. I haven’t seen this kind of overt gouging since that idiot Snkrelli tried to hike Cancer medicine 5000%. And this is a game – with optional purchases. If you are going to monetize, at least make the offers something vaguely akin to remotely desirable for the price.

ArenaNet has taken all the worst, most grotesque versions of money grubbing monetization on the most micro of scales and added to their pay for game and expansions baseline and created a truly sickening monster.

And to think: I actually went into the Trading Post thinking there might be something worth buying, with real money. Money to burn, but completely put off on seeing how weak and pathetic and money grubbing the bag slot offering was.

Account Jump Start

Raeat.1026

My Perspective
No. Absolutely unacceptable. Might as well just set your money on fire. Not even in the same ball park as close to reasonable. Not going to happen, and it is seriously making me call into question any potential future purchases as well.

The Grievance
Even at a reduced “sale” rate of 2000 gems, this is still a $35 US investment (not even including the exchange rate). That is roughly half the price of the full Heart of Thorns expansion. And that for what? As far as bag slot expansions are concerned, it is only 2 total and they are perishable (disappear if the toon is deleted).

Not acceptable. That is whole orders of magnitude more money grubbing than I had thought even ArenaNet would dare be.

Recommendation
Make it two bag slots per toon on an account present and future and (not perishable) and it might, might be almost worth it. But half the price of a full expansion for perishable bag slots plus some trivial stuff is absolutely unacceptable. Read that again, in case it weas missed the first few time: absolutely unacceptable. Even the two bank expansions don’t help alleviate this.
