Yeah, I just got Chak Gerent tonight. OP’s post is what’s blocking me from HOPE completion.

I’ve also noticed this.

This plus Chak Gerent are the last quest two completions I need for HOPE IV

Suggestion: Low level crafting

If you craft as you level, then often the greens and blues are improvements to the other armors/weapons you would have at that level from just playing the game. I have done this with several characters and used the gear that I crafted.

Players that don't use Forge, but lots of SP?

After you gain all the skills in the game, the ONLY use for skill points is for mystic forge materials.

In effect Anet is saying, you will not lose your old skill points – they will be directly converted to mystic forge material. By converting extra skill points the players lose nothing, as extra skills points were only used for mystic forge materials anyway.

There is no reason to gain something other than mystic forge materials, because that’s effectively all they were before. The real question is: Will these take up bank space or not (if so, then we are losing space, but nothing else).

WvW Scoring Format

in WvW

Committing to defense awards points only if it’s being threatened, and if that attempt at defense succeeds. On the flip side committing to attacking a point awards points only if it succeeds, but the enemy will slowly be gaining points during the attack if they defend.

The real problem with this is the fact that spies can have a huge impact. They can go feed a team points, by fake attacking a keep.

Also servers could decide to trade back and forth (somewhat hindered by RI) in an attempt to inflate their score.

In general I don’t think a population based metric will work, but I do think there should be some point based bonus to attacking a server that has a much higher score.

Augmenting PPT to increase competition

in WvW

So I’ve seen a few posts mention the general idea, and overall I think it’s a good idea. I also don’t know of many other metrics other than points that we’d be able to use to determine who wins a wvw matchup.

The general idea is giving extra bonuses to servers who are behind in score to attack the teams ahead of them in score. That way if A is beating B is beating C, then B and C are encouraged point wise to go after A. Once the score difference gets too close, then the encouragement is removed, so that it becomes more FFA.

There are two parameters here that would need to be fined tuned, we’ll call them X and Y.

If server A is beating server B by more than X points, when B takes a capture point from A, B immediately gets 1 tick of points added (from capture) to the score. In this way, B is getting the normal PPT, plus 1 bonus tick to try add incentive.

If server A is beating server B by more than Y points, when B takes a capture point from A, B immediately gets 2 ticks of points added.

In that way, taking a supply camp from a server decently ahead of you in points would give you 5 points immediately, taking a tower would give you 10 immediately, etc. If the server is very far ahead of you in score, then taking a camp would give you 10 immediately, a tower would give 20, etc.

The two levels could be X=25,000 and Y=75,000 (but this is just me picking numbers out of the air based off of point differentials for matchups I’ve seen). You also don’t have to stop at just two levels of bonus.

Why I think this could be good:

  • encourages ganging up on the leading server (which if people were only trying to play for first should happen anyway)
  • adds more competition (maybe… if nothing else that scores will be closer)
  • adds incentive for weaker servers in the match up (under the assumption that people care about points, which might be a bad one)

Why I think this could be bad:

  • could be open to abuse
  • could not actually fix or improve any of the PPT issues we have

I’d like to see any suggestions or comments. There probably are better ways to improve PPT, but I don’t think the general framework will ever get rid of it. That being said, I think this is a fairly easy to implement idea (of course it wouldn’t happen soon, and needs testing, but it’s an idea).

I think there are a good number of people who like this dungeon from initial posts. I’m sure not everyone does, but not everyone likes to do Arah either.

Bugged after killing clockheart boss?

in Twilight Assault

Dunno if other people had this part of the bug, but we got extra events after killing clockhear. However, our group would try to leave clockheart room to go after the airships (the door looked open), and instead would get teleported to the entrance of the clockheart room (with the wall closed off).

Using the waypoint to Spur’s room also put us back into the entrance of the clockheart room.

Some great SoR thieves

Not sure if this is the appropriate place for this, but I wanted to give a shout out to a squad of three SoR thieves that were simply amazing.

After capping a camp in EB and camping around killing some people, a few of us PUGs (not even in party just roaming PUGs) managed to take back the camp. Afterwards we chased the thieves for a while one stopped running. From that point on his two friends just sat on the hill and watched, while he 1v4 or 1v5 us. Now he had applied fortitude and guard leech, and all that jazz, but I was still thoroughly impressed. After a few minutes of dancing around, not dying, but not killing us either, I’m guessing they got board, so he and his buddies came and just finished us off like nothing.

Anyway, just wanted to say I was pretty impressed (enough to come to the forum and give them a post). Cheers!

Liadri alienates a lot of gw2 players

I had always thought of the camera angle as part of the challenge. Like how in the chaos crystal cavern jumping puzzle in iron marches you can get forced into certain camera angles.

Also, I beat liadri as a large char guardian using scepter, and a mix between zerkers/knights/pvt gear with soldiers runes and an altruistic healer trait build/shout (custom engineered to the fight). I had tried thief, warrior, and mesmer beforehand, and for my play style found guardian to be the easiest. I probably tried over 50 times with my other classes, but I wouldn’t change a thing about the fight.

I do agree that if AOE circles are hard to see, that might need fixing, though I never noticed.

Maybe after the jubilee the artists can be housed in the sections that used to have monsters?

You could put performers up in the Queen’s Gauntlet rooms and if they don’t perform well, you can drop them!

This post is in response to my previous post. I was able to successfully get around the bug I posted a few posts ago.

In the page where you need to put all your credit card information, there is a button to change your order. I changed the order to an order that I did not want. Then I changed it back to the order I wanted. At this point I clicked next.

The “Review Your Order” page correctly displayed my order now. Everything seems to work after this.

Hey guys,

I just got an email with an analysis and a work-around on one of the Gem Store purchase issues, where you try to buy and cannot click “next” to complete the purchase. Granted, this doesn’t solve every issue, but it’s a step forward and I want to share this work-around:

What is happening is that the “next” button on the final screen does not get enabled after filling out their billing information. What seems to be happening is the form does not recognize that the customer has entered all the information into the form and in turn, they cannot complete their purchase. If the customer simply “tabs out” of that last field (for the card’s expiration date), they are able to click next and confirm the purchase on the following page.

I wanted to post this right away, and I’m hoping that someone will let me know if this suggestion does work for them. We have a “bug” listed for this, but I’m super curious about whether this work-around is effective.

Thanks for any info you can provide on this!

Yes, it works. I found that bug while trying to figure out why I couldn’t buy anything. Unfortunately, that is not the bug preventing me from purchasing anything. It’s the lack of a “confirm” button on the NEXT page after that. Very frustrating. I tried buying gems over the black Friday sale (3 days running) and got nowhere.

~holds up handful of money~ I want to give it to you, I REALLY do. But.. you just aren’t making it easy to do!

:)

I’m having this same problem. I can get through the information page, but the following page titled “Review Your Order” seems to be bugged.

It tells me “You’re Buying” on the left, but the gem order isn’t listed. Then it has “Payment Method” on the right with the credit card listed under. Finally the confirm button is grayed out.
