Could be a thief with shouts, for a disappointing name you could name the spec braggart :P
Yeah, no. A class which stealths shouting around the battlefield?
“Shut the kitten up Carl, trying to stealth here!”
I dont like it and i wonder why anet did this:
Berserker AND stick and move promotes you to USE adrenaline and endurance
Physical training AND physical skills promotes you to NOT use adrenaline and endurance
… Sure you can say use physical skill first before burst but now you have to wait and not spending dodge also.. Before you use a physical skill when you need it.. Soon i can make a script saying
IF () then () else() or()
there are too much if’s only on physical skill/trait
It’s almost as if they want you to think before you use your burst, instead of spamming it whenever possible to maintain Berserker’s power uptime as much as possible. Gasp, the horror!
And now explain the endurance part.. what i cant dodge more then once because else i lose physical bonus? but i do like to use Stick and move before going bulls > 100b to profit..
So sure you can play around it so you can profit from both but it doesnt feel right that they doestn promote you to use your dodges AND adrenaline..
They finally remade berserkers power to PROMOTE you spending adrenline and “stick and move”" Always promotes you to use endurance..
But now they did the opposite to physical skills and trait, thats just weird.
If anything, Stick and move is the perfect example of that kind of philosophy about resource management. Physical training/Zerker training and endurance-improved physicals are exactly the same; weight the options (damage or extra dodge, global damage buff or much stronger physical) and act accordingly. The better you know a fight the easier it will become to manage those resources properly so you can maximize your damage and survivability.

Clone Death is the most passive gameplay and unskilled (imo). Robert’s arguments towards wanting mesmers to use their profession’s mechanic is on point. I disagree, it is a good thing to be getting rid of.
this
all u have to do with those kind of builds is summoning 3 illusions/clones go stealth and dodge a bit. The only good thing to have those as enemies is, you can just walk away and they cant pressure u at all
If turret engies can allow to play that way, why shouldnt Mesmers?
Because different professions are different? Engineers’ class mechanic isn’t shattering.
I dont get it, why should we be top damage?
because we are at the bottom of what concerns defense.
Ele is one of the three bunkers in tPvP, defense-wise they’re more than fine (in fact they’re in the top three).
Hmmm…top pvp player says thieves and mesmers are OP, bunch of nobodies say that thieves are fine and the rest of the players should learn to play… Yeah, I think most sane people know who’s speaking out of their collective kittens in this one.
I have one. Backstab spec screamed NERF INC! from miles away. Be glad that they didn’t just gut its damage by 20% or something equally brutal like they did with Pistol Whip.
Remember back in beta when thieves swore to high heaven that Revealed wasn’t needed and that CnD spam was absolutely fine because it only killed moderately fast (each CnD did the damage of a medium Heartseeker) while you were invisible all the time? Well some people do. The thief community has a very bad track record of judging their own class in terms of balance.
Yeah, every other forum complaining about thieves is clearly an indication about how every other player sucks and doesn’t know how to play the game, not that thieves may actually be unbalanced in some way.
De Nial is a river in Egypt.
Or just remove the kitten point system and match up servers at random. Set bonuses according to objectives and reverse outmanned and Orbs buffs (Seriously, a mechanical advantage to the outnumbering side? Seriously?). It’s demoralizing to know that there’s NO chance for a primetime recovery no matter how well organized your server is in that timeframe.
You could also scale outmanned like Lake Wintergrasp did, multiplying the strength of the outnumbered people (more health, more damage, propably a defiant buff too). The tactical advantage is still on the side with the most players because of the multitude of objectives (more map coverage= more points) but at least the outmanned side has some incentive to stay and fight (more killing= more loot/exp).
There are solutions that won’t violate your precious 24/7 credo but right now you’re allienating the players who actually have to use effort to fight in real PvP battles by rewarding those who have a strong enough offpeak presence to zerg everything down with no real opposition.
Setch,
Strawman argument is strawman; offtime players don’t congregate on servers with only offtime players, they congregate on servers with a huge primetime playerbase. There’s no ‘nightcapping’ the Australians, HoD has full primetime too.
Fact of the matter, that except for the one lucky server that has a significant offtime playerbase, WvWvW is being ruined for the majority in order to cater to the minority.
Forcing region-bound servers is the only acceptable solution, other than population limits which would ruin everyone’s fun, offtimers never getting in, primetimers having even longer queues if one team decides to boycott the game due to losing, planetary allignment or synchronized menstrual cycles.
Moral of the story: Desolation may lose badly from Canada Square and Far Siberians, but we’re still better at WubWub than you guys. And that eats you alive. But go ahead, get first place and get trashed for a whole week, we’ll be enjoying the second bracket and the easy win.
If you’re going for max personal damage the 5 signet build is worthless anyway especially past 40… I run all dungeons with a buddy who plays support guardian, so I dont fill my bar with banners and shouts but I always run at least FGJ and Battle Standart. The warriors that run 5 signets outside of solo/DE are stupid and lazy. Mostly stupid. The whole “build” shines in a level bracket that there are no dungeons (20-30), afterwards the diminishing returns kick in pretty hard for Deep Strike.
In fact, most people don’t realize that the key trait in a greatsword damage build isn’t Deep Strike, it’s Forceful Greatsword.
Someone has to say it but…two French servers being able to field full nightzergs? Or are ALL the French people dedicated to WvWvW? Something aboot that sounds fishy… :P
In the end it boils down to this; Desolation has a huge population and randoms will always “steal” spots away from organized guilds. Unless the server is populated by a lot of WvWvW players, like VS is, we’ll always have trouble amassing a decent force of organized people in the 4 maps (and by decent I mean something like 20-25, enough to force the mindless zerg to follow and facetank/facesmash doors). It’s almost impossible to shift the population focus to WvWvW and WvWvW players can’t get in the server en masse.
This is why the low pop server transfer is imho a more viable solution. Hell we could propably get some of the VS to follow us, they’re propably sick of queues as well. Transfering in a low-pop server with low ranking also gives the advantage of getting a WvWvW organized in relatively safe training conditions (in other words, smashing lowranks without organization) and not attract as much attention from serverhoppers hoping to get in the “winning side” until the server is up the ranking. That would allow for a few weeks for the theoretical guild to recruit Wubbies and rise up in the rankings quite fast.

Gambling is not an effort. If you don’t wanna gamble your hard-earned items on the forge, don’t do it. But don’t call a conscious choice to gamble an effort.
Whirling Axe is fine, It hits many more targets than auto does, especially if you move through (and that’s tagging, the best quality for Loot Wars in Orr), you can dodge mid-channel without interrupting yourself and it’s a whirl finisher. It has uses and advantages beyond pure dps over the axe auto-chain, especially since it’s not tied to the axe autochain and you can totally use it with a mainhand sword/mace.
Drake the same can be said about people defending their position. It can’t be that they were carried by the class being overtuned (which I’m not saying is or is not, that’s up to A-net to decide). No, the only logical explanation is that they are the epitome of skill, their opponents suck and need to l2p and the ability to spam high damage abilities and escape almost any situation has nothing to do with having the upperhand in many engagements, especially those were the thief initiates.
My point is, both sides of the ridiculous argument are just as bad. One side dismisses every claim of them doing anything wrong and lays the blame solely on OP profession mechanics, the other vehemently denies that anything can be wrong with the profession itself, only the opponent.
Hi, devil’s advocate here.
Clearly every single complaint about Thieves in PvP is the result of ragevision. None of them could be possibly legit, because every single thief player is a 1337 ninja that acquires godlike reflexes and decision-making powers on par with Kasparov the moment they pick thief. There’s no way some of the profession’s abilities may be overtuned.
Mesmers, Guardians and Warriors are clearly OP though, am I right?
Just want to chime in and say that Steal is an instant activation ability and should not interrupt any animations happening midcast. That’s the whole appeal of instant casts. Elementalists use Teleport to land Churning Earth, Mesmers can shatter while they’re attacking, etc etc.
It is not an exploit.
