I wish I would have known about this earlier…Honestly never had a program limit me so much because of my processor. AMD has always served me well over the years. but anyhow u guys the bulls vs the cavs are on nba dot come for free. playoffs baby~

You have 150 that have sub-par requirements to run. GW2 needs a lot of resources from the cpu. While you can still play GW2 decently, you can’t get great performance without upgrading your budget AMD chip to an Intel one. The price difference is shown in the quality.

You can’t compare some single player games to an MMO. FPS changes depending on what other players are doing around you.

thats exactly how I feel about you when i say 99% of my other games run perfect and nobody listens to me. But Arena net has to be an odd duck and make a cpu heavy game. So when they do this they need to wake up and realize not everyone has Intel.

OK, I tried it with the frame limiter off with my normal settings and got 83 FPS where you were. With your settings I got 68 FPS.

So yeah, I say to try dropping your graphics settings a bit and overclocking your CPU.

ok I will try I do have a Hyper 212 evo cooler so I think i got like 10c to play with. Hopefully I can get it to like 4.6 This is actually the first game I have been told to o/c my cpu. Maybe 4.5+ is the sweet spot i’m looking for. problem is im scared to touch voltages.

so I take it you think that Cinebench needs to also optimize for AMD as well since Intel outperforms in that model too?

Its your weak FX8370’s single core performance that’s giving you the limiting 55FPS. its not the game or its engine (not really). The game relies on single core performance over muli-threading performance.

Here is an example – my G3258 + HD5770 (screenshot)
that’s right a dual core Haswell clocked at 4ghz, and a older HD5770 gets better FPS then your FX8370+GTX960, why do you think that is?

you do not get better fps, the first and third images were from standing in demanding areas.

As most people have figured out over the lifespan of the game, GW2 is horribly optimized for AMD processors. It runs so much better on an Intel.

And I wouldn’t say it’s all AMD’s fault, as certain processors of theirs that SHOULD be able to handle the game just fine don’t seem to perform very well.

There really is no getting around the fact that GW2 is horribly optimized for AMD processors and you will almost always get a better performance from an Intel.

Again, you don’t write code that’s optimized for one brand of processor over another. The game is written to run okay on two cores and better with three or four. AMD decided to fight Intel’s fewer faster cores with more slower cores. That may work for Cinebench or any software that will spawn an identical worker thread for every core detected but that approach will not work with software that uses only a few cores worth of performance.

The fault lies with AMD’s approach to “fixing” the multithreaded benchmark results while sacrificing single core performance. Okay idea for business servers, not great for the desktop.

here is another pic showing different settings and the true power of the gtx 960. The FX processor is just not good for this game. (Forcing me to live with Character Model Limit : Lowest) This is where I ask Arena Net to do better. Once again I can join 32 person servers with crashing helicopters and building and stuff exploding everywhere but I cannot handle more than 10 people on the screen in the game without lags?

FYI, OP, if you haven’t attempted the suggested adjustments found in the post https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/support/PC-FPS-and-Performance-based-issues/first#post338300, I would suggest trying those. These personally helped me maintain a consistently higher FPS with much less frame drops in higher intensity areas, it’s possible it might help you out too.

Furthermore, it’s probably the first thing any official support person would point you towards, so at least try them before knocking on them.

Thanks for helping but I already tried all of that. If a 960 does not make me happy in this game then I will simple not play it. I want all of you to have higher standards… and I want the game to be optimized… this is the only reasons for my thread. Now I will go enjoy a lagg-free enviornment with my other 150 steam games. goodbye

This game is more CPU demanding than GPU, besides most games only use a few cores of the CPU, so usually an i5 with 4 cores works better than the AMD’s 8 cores because individually each core is “stronger”, that is where your setup is bottle necking.

With this setup and these settings I should be able to get 60 fps wherever I go and whatever happens around me but I dont. This is why I am saying the game needs optimized. I have a $200 video card from 2015. Dont care if an i5 is faster .. the 4.3 ghz 8 core fx processor should me more then enough. I get 60 fps in battlefield (32 person servers with all sorts of stuff happening from helicopters crashing around me to destroyable building collapsing around me) Gw2 does not even have these physics and I cannot get 60 fps. Its the kitten game Gw2 is just not optimized.

There is nothing wrong with my PC, I have a fresh install and gw2 on a solid state drive. I do normally get 60 fps but im tired of looking at fluctuating fps depending on where I am at in the game. I can max Bioshock Infinite, Farcry , Skryim etc no problem.

Just my opinion but 47fps is not that bad…….certainly not bad enough for an “I quit” reaction.

This picture explains it all. I have a freaking gtx 960 and a FX 8370 8 core. Arena Net you need to fix your game. All my other games run extremely well except for GW2. I have quit this game because this is unacceptable.

So far I have been limited to running with only the Shadow Fiend…his skill cooldown is only 20 seconds… which helps you to force him into combat…I refuse to use any other pets because of this issue…The necro is still at a huge disadvantage (many skills being wasted on buggy minions) How can this not be top priority? and go on like this for so long?
I strongly believe every lvl 80 necro should get like 800 free gems.

There is no other game out there like gw2. I have played many many mmos.. and to have this type of content with this type of quality is amazing. (esp when you factor in no monthly fees)

I have seen may games claim to be a sandbox but yet contain these artificial barriers.

For me I do not like WoW…I was dragged into it in the first place. This is the perfect game for me.

I was thinking a simple script/variable like this : If player = above ground …then mob underwater = shaded color

please help me to +1 this topic

The first example shows how a fish loses its color fast when underwater. Notice how the shark is near the surface and losing its color/ shape. The 2nd image is actual game of a Skelk underwater. (much deeper than the shark) yet retains color and shape. This visual element needs to be fixed please. I don’t know how many times I’ve been running along the shore or overlooking some water, then thinking to myself as I look at the fish … " This don’t look right"
please, please fix this or at least try to do something about it.
