I see your point. But i do see from a business stand point you don’t want to limit your players playing experience in a expansion. Also requiring all previous expansions for the current expansion could be asking a lot for people. HoT did not appeal to some.

I do think it would be cool if they added something for people who bought HoT though. Maybe a place we can glide and get a treasure chest. Not needed for story or PoF but as a thank you for buying HoT.

As for the price. I think they did it right this time. When HoT came out everyone complained about $50 and not a $30 version. They felt like they were paying twice for the core game. Offering both HoT and PoF for $50 OR PoF for $30 is perfect.

Do not change the movement of the mounts!! I love that they actually feel like you are riding something. I love that they are not simply a cosmetic speed boost. They feel and act like animals. Some people have mentioned adding a strafe. I don’t really see the need. Play on the mount for a few minutes and you will adjust your movement patterns.

As mentioned just have fun with it. Don’t stress to much. I died a lot with my first play through. And I mean a lot! But as my toon leveled I got stronger and use to the controls. I personally now play with a Xbox one controller. But you need some other software to do that. If your like me I like things simple so maybe try playing a warrior? They can use most weapons in the game and simple to use. Also can take a beating.

Does anyone else play with a controller? I do and absolutely love it! The combat in this game is perfect with a controller setup. I can do everything the game requires of me. Since they have the action camera it plays just like any other 3rd person action adventure game. It has given new life to the game! I remember awhile back the rumor GW2 was might to console. Anet could if the console hardware could handle it. Completely playable with controller.

And if your wondering if it gives you an advantage over other players I would say it does not. I do not PVP but doing PVE is just as difficult. Also ground targeting can be a more difficult because its not as fast as a mouse.

I use xpadder which maps my xbox one controller buttons to mouse and keyboard buttons. I also use the steam link which allows me to play on my TV from the couch.

I saw this glider/backpack combo and had to buy! This is the first glider i have purchased. I did not realize the back item would not dye to match my glider dye i selected. This just sucks! If I had known that I would not have impulsed buy. Now i’m stuck with blue while running around and red while gliding. I thought I was missing something until i came to this forum and found i’m not the only person thinking the same thing. Please anet let back items match the glider if its a set. Thanks!

Ya I saw the ghoul back piece. That gave me hope that my bat wings will reappear before halloween!

Hi all. So I decided I wanted to get the bat wings. Do they come for sale during halloween? I know they were a Halloween item. I’m hoping I will see them come on sale this month with all the sales going on.

I play with my interface set at extra large. I noticed whenever i spec to druid my F5 icon is gigantic! see picture for reference. If my interface is on small, normal, or large it seems to be fine.

First off let me say I’m not a console guy. Last console I bought was a Gamecube back in 2002. But I am a geek and want to try this out.

I have seen some videos of people playing with a controller. It kind of interest me to stream to my tv and play on the coach. Any one try this and if so what did you use to do it? How do you like it? What can’t you do with a controller?

I find it very interesting how divided the GW2 community is on this subject. I would never want mounts if that means taking away our way of travel. But I welcome them as a new way of travel and fun factor. At least I think it would be fun.

So some are okay with mounts without speed bonus. But opposed if it does. What is wrong with a mount giving speed bonus in pve out of combat? I have a signet that gives me 25% passive speed bonus. Kind of the same thing. I don’t feel it would give me an unfair advantage or make me miss seeing the world they spent so much time developing. I already run at that speed. I have heard some people making this concern.

Yes mounts in wow were for getting from point A to B much quicker. We don’t need them for that reason. We can way point. I just want them for fun. Just like mini pets and all the other fun stuff in the game. I would like them to give a speed bonus though. Maybe mounts cannot be used in WvW or pvp and only pve. Once taken so much damage it will force you off the mount and into combat in pve. The mobs in HoT are on mounts. We are getting gliders this expansion. Maybe mounts next expansion?!

Yep its coming up again. And no I don’t want to play World of Warcraft. I’m a long time guild wars fan.

I find it odd we can have magic carpets and witch brooms but no traditional mount.. don’t get me wrong I love the game mechanics and the ability to way point. I’m not saying take that out in order to give us mounts.

Back in vanilla WoW mounts were essential for getting around. The game was designed to be a time sink to keep you playing and paying. But for us mounts would not be essential but more for looks and cool factor. And that’s what gw2 is all about. We are all about the no endless gear grind but unique skins. This game is a “fashion show”.

I think mounts would be so fun. They can do skins just like the hang gliders. I would love to drive a mechanical beast with my charr.

I believe the Druid was the first specialization Anet announced and yet its one of the last to be revealed to us. Ranger is my main so I would love to see some more on the Druid Anet. Will we be able to play it before beta weekend 2?

Here is how it works. Select the mastery you want to work on. Gain experience on the mastery by doing stuff in the world. Once full you can unlock the mastery by spending a mastery point in that mastery. It seems kind of backwards but hear me out. If we had to spend a mastery point first to start learning a mastery it may stop progresson. What would happen if you didn’t have any mastery points. You would be unable to unlock one to work on. This way if you have zero mastery points you still can work on them and simply unlock one after you earned another mastery point.

After reading this I went and checked my game. I recently finished personal story and I too was confused where the story picked up. Sure enough I am on season 2 episode 8. It all makes sense now! And i do have ALL of season 2 UNLOCKED. It should have put me at episode 1 not 8. Happy I noticed this. I was in the durmand priory killing stuff and having no clue why. haha

My new look. All exotic gear. Ready for biohazard! Just need scientific skins to finish the look. Not sure why pic is side ways. Click on it and its becomes normal.

The dye system is bugged. It will not show me the preview of the dyes that will be applied to my armor. when I select a color and then hover over the dye square it will flash the color and then nothing. It usually shows a color a dyed some time ago and will not show me current colors.

I love my charr ranger! I love the charr. But word to the wise the charr has a odd body shape so some medium armors look bad.

I am for mounts. I now we don’t need them because of the amazing map travel in this game. With that aside I still would love to show it off and run faster all the time. Maybe one day.. I can dream can’t I?

I love this business model. I don’t care if they include the core game and 5 expansions to a new player. It keeps the game community alive. Everyone can play the same content and together. There won’t be anyone feeling they need to spent a lot of cash to “catch up”. And no one will be left out because they didn’t purchase that expansion. It does not bother me I am getting the core game and expansions over again. Because to me its all digital so big whoop! I would imagine its going to be $50 for each expansion regardless of how games they include.

so last night I decided I wanted to put the krytan skin on my ranger armor. But it’s not in the gem store anymore! Any word on why they took it down or when its coming back? I thought that was a skin that would be there all the time.

I hope so! In gw1 with each expansion we did. I don’t see why not. Give us some jungle pets! I want a silver back gorilla!

Honestly I’m not trying to win anyone’s opinion. You can have yours and I will have mine. I just wanted to voice mine and let Arenanet I will still support their game.

Let me say I feel bad for Arenanet. This is their big expansion and people are complaining about trivial matters.

I for one am glad they are appealing to new players with a included copy of GW2 with HoT. Ya I know it’s not free yadada.. I was hoping they would do that. I as a veteran player do not feel entitled to anything more. I dont feel ripped off or cheated. Paying $50 for HoT does not bother me even if its a “bundle”. Im happy to pay it and support one of the best mmo’s.

In my opinion Arenanet was trying to do something nice by the bundle deal. People need to stop focusing on this bundle deal and more on the price. is $50 worth it to you? In my opinion it is.

we need to remember Arenanet is a business and they need to make money. If they attract new players this brings in revenue. This benefits veteran players by having more people to play with and this in turn supports Arenanets costs of running a company. Aka servers still running and new content. How quickly do we forget how much we got for $60 on the core game. All the updates and living story. This is a great company and I do believe they truly care about the players.

So flame me or do what ever But I am going to support them and pre purchase.

Like I said I have no issue for $50 for HoT and I don’t feel like I’m being ripped off by “paying twice” for the original game. I’m happy they included the original for new players.

In the past GW1 stand alone “expansions” we got two new character slots when we linked accounts. I am suprised we did not get at least one new character slot. Maybe give that for players who already own gw2? That would make a lot of people happy I think

Since last patch my dye ui has not been working correctly. I will dye a swatch and it will not show on my character in the preview. Even if I click apply my armor colors will not change in the preview. It does change on my chatacter though. I just cannot preview the dyes.

That staff looks awesome! In my opinion the legendary skins are blah. The only good one is great sword and they get three skins! I play a male ranger and don’t want a girly bow. I play a male elementalist and don’t want a girly staff. I’m excited to see what the come up with but they need to step up their game with legendary skins. They do an awes o me job with black lion specialist skins.

I want to say I payed $50 each for factions and nightfall and $40 Eye of the north. I’m planning on a 50 price tag, which I will gladly pay, but not be surprised if it’s $40.
I’m assuming they will do a sale of the base game for $10 to give people the chance to buy both at the same time. $10+$40=$50 or $10+$50=$60. Perfectly priced in my opinion.
And for all you people saying it should be free kitten. You have no idea of what an awesome game this is and how it broke the mold of a mmo. I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt that you are a child with no job.

And what makes your rude self think that this game will have even a third of the content EoTN, Factions, or Nighfall had?

From the looks of it we get 1 new professions, 1 new weapon for each existing profession, a handful of maps, masteries.

Can you list the content that makes this purchase worth what any of the GW1 expansions cost?

Edit: And 1 new WvW and 1 new PvP map.

I play on medium. When there are a lot of players on screen. Like a world event. My FPS drops to 10. I want to upgrade my cpu. GW2 depends heavily on your cpu.

let me just add that that drop rate wouldn’t be so bad if the game would actually give you Black Lion chest and Black Lion keys for playing the game. But I have hardly gotten any. In the hundreds of hours I’ve played I may be have gotten 50 chests and 5 keys.

ok I love my armor look but I want a cool weapon skin and it looks like all the cool ones are from the Black Lion specialist. So here’s my question.I’m seriously contemplating buying Black Lion keys to open my chest for tickets. From what I’ve read I have a 25 percent chance to get a scrap and it takes 10 scraps for a ticket and it takes five tickets for a weapon. Isn’t that a little bit ridiculous? Who has experience with the Black Lion chest dropping the tickets?is the drop rate really that bad? Is it even worth trying to get one?

I’m one of those players who missed LS1. I have been playing since launch but could not play LS1 has it was happening do to life. I am just getting around to LS2 now. Luckily i have all the episodes unlocked. Will there ever be a time when LS1 will be replayable? I would like to play it.

Okay. Perfect! Thank you all for the help. I know what I want to do know. I will do beserker and depending on how squishy I feel add another type of armor. Thinking like 3/3 ratio for a start.

The rune doesn’t matter what armor it is on for the bonuses as long as it is the same rune correct? Example, I could have 3 pieces of beserker and 3 pieces of knight and still get all 6 tiers of rune stacking. Or 4- 2 or 5 – 1. Is this a good option? Would this help with not dying? Or am I crippling my stats by doing this? It looks like a viable option to me.

You have given me a lot to think about. Thank you! So I’m thinking of doing knights armor with rune of scholar. Couple questions. Sorry feel like such a noob for someone who has played guild wars for years.
Can I replace the rune on a dungeon piece of armor? And how much are superior runes of scholar going for? At work and no game access.

Wow thanks guys!! You have been very helpfull!! I a couple questions. The dungeon beserker armor (inquest) I am wanting has runes already and the more pieces you have the better the stats. Do I switch these runes out for health runes? Is that even a possibility? I will get trinkets for health and toughness. That’s a good idea. I believe i am good at dodging. That’s not an issue. Have dodge set to a mouse button for convenience.

Its seems everyone says get beserker armor on these forums. My concern is will I be to squishy? I only play pve and do a lot of dungeons. So fighting other players isnt a concern. Are there skills I should be using to bring up my survivability? Right now i use staff for dungeons and s/f for solo pve. I use cantrips a lot also.
