AP, or someone else who’s been here a whole long time: All of this sounds a whole lot like the Serial was not bought from arenanet, but from a bad retailer or gold seller. Remember early on when the game started and we had all these guys with the “disabled serial code” issues? For those, they have always requested the serial code to check if it was bought correctly or bought from a (ph/f)ishy site.
If the serial was bad, that would also explain why they cannot use the new key, because back then, they always stressed how you should not try to re-open acokittens without talking to billing first.
Trying to see if I can find the old threads for that.
*Edit: Seems the old postings are gone, all I found online was at https://help.guildwars2.com/entries/38813526-Common-Error-Codes concerning error 122
Error Code 122 x x x x
(example – 122:12:4:1931:101)
Error 122 means your account has been disabled, possibly for being fraudulently purchased by an unauthorized vendor. Please contact the source of the purchase for more information.
I cannot find the forum threads from launch, but I am willing to bet they said you must have your serial if you need help with that code.

Sorry, I may not understand correctly what happened:
Are you saying you crafted a full set of armor, six pieces… by mistake? How can that happpen?
I am sure I misunderstand the issue.
People could also feel that it is a sligh against a nationality. I don’t need to spell out how “Tandori” is an ethnic food.
Try checking the header. If you Google your email provider with the word header, you should get info on how to have the whole header show.
http://www.ip2location.com/free/email-tracer <- That could also help you.
We’re talking about the display name, right, not the account name?
Account name – An Email
Display name – What’s in the forums
One displays, the other does not.
Else, what BG said!
Also, make sure you submit your ticket through http://en.support.guildwars2.com/
There are no in-game tickets. All you get in the support tab says “there is unlikely to be a reply” – I think those are only for bug reports.
SP, are you offering? >.>
No, but seriously: In any MMO I have played, trying to police the game as a player generally bites you in the .. uh, kitten.
Either because you use exploits when you should not have (“But I only wanted to report it!”) or because you tried to bear-bite someone (“I know he has a temper, so I got him to insult me by insulting him so I could report them!”) … or ‘to catch a scammer’.
Generally you’ll have more fun if you play the game and just report what you see. You could have just as easily done an in-game report: Offensive Chat and have the GMs check him out.
If your email is older than 3 years and you have ever used it to register an account anywhere else – a guild web site; an online game magazine, an online store – chances are your email is already known to a lot of baddies.
Companies like Sony/PSN, Blizzard, LinkedIn, Kogatu; but also smaller fansites such as WoWHead, player-run forums and so on have in the past reported, that they noticed a hack into their customer DBs. Often they assure us that no payment information was stolen; “only use names, emails and/orpasswords” – and there is where the worry can start.
You see:
We’re talking about a business for these people. Hackers do not hack. Hacking is too slow. They will BUY bundles of data. Chances are your email, plus known user names PLUS known / frequently used passwords are already out there. My email for GW2 is brand-new, and I have not gotten any spam on it, because I have not used it for anything else, not even for forums or websites.
But my old, near-to-7-year gmail adress (which I have used for battle.net and countless other places) keeps being phished. Phished for D3 (which I do not even own), for GW2, for bank info and so on. I’m on some list or another – but I do not re-use the same passwords.
My emails, my game accounts, my bank accounts, my social media – I use different passwords for different things. And that’s how I have managed to not get hacked in any online game so far.
Keeping your PC safe is one big step. The second big step is being smart about your own safty.
“Lustythrusrs”
Lusty Thrusts. Which makes it a bit more suggestive. Is that it exactly? No, but even names that slightly change the name are not okay.
And you’ve run through the whole instance? in the Norn instance, which is sort of U-shapes, it’s at the other side of the hall.

Hey, Teege.4623, it’s clear you have some kind of personal issue, but, really, instead of provoking to get yourself in trouble (which would serve nothing but make you look foolish and eventually not being able to take part on the forums at all any longer), you may want to ponder how to express yourself in a manner that actually furthers the issue.
As for being reacted upon: That does not always automatically mean the GMs will perma-ban the person you just pointed out. Heck, it can even mean that the name may be considered bad to you, but not to others. And in the end, ANet has to consider that the person whose name is up for consideration is as much a customer as I am, when I click report.
Heck, I have had one of my names changed in another game, because people felt I was trying to call my character something third reich related – yet I did not even nearly aim for that area.
Report other players… but don’t add them to friends’ lists or similar to “Watch the Watchers” – in the end, the little kick you might get for seeing the name changes may not outweigh your disgruntlement at the name not being changed. Report, move on. It’s really the healthiest thing you can do.
I’m not sure you will be safe by just posting here, Hn… Some systems, such as Spam Protection as automated and it’ll take some time to get in touch with the GMs.
You may want to re-think how you send these greetings to your guildies. Just saying, before something happens.

Check your full email header. There are ways to fake email addresses that get displayed, but a full email header can show you all the details (including the path of the email send)
Besides, Gaile said often that EVERYONE gets a reply, no matter what your ticket is. ^^
Just FYI: ANet posted a few times that 3 days is the smaller of the possible bans. It’s 3 day or 2 weeks, I believe?
Was this the first time he had problems? Because if he had been hit previously, warned or similar, then the punishment increases in time. :\
Either way: He needs to contact support. They can’t help you through the forums.
Also, that would not be a Tech Support issue. It’s a login issue if you cannot login. Tech Support is more like “I am trying to start my game, but then it crashes and I go back to windows”.
And, do make sure to reply to the ticket you have. If you open a new ticket, chances are they might miss what’s happened so far.
…also, that ‘joke’ is in very poor taste. Please remove it yourself by editing that post. Because the same people who get offended in game will be offended on the forums and report you here.

He may also want to check where his game code came from. On this forum a lot of people post who got their serial “off ebay” or “from a code selling website” to find themselves get banned later on.
Those sites and sadly a lot of ebay dealers use stolen credit cards to buy the serial, sell it, and then some time later the card owner calls arenanet, gets the money back and they have to ban the account.
That’s fraud and he would own stolen goods then.
I have two accounts (altoholic, did not know how many char slots we’d be able to buy) and I know they do not share any data across the same PC I play them on.
So the PC settings should not matter here. IC may have his finger on the issue.
Also, have your friend read Mike’s blog posting on how hackers do it. I found it very helpful and I have shared it even with people who do not play GW2, because it shows a lot of problems we can face ANYWHERE.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/account/Mike-O-Brien-s-Article-on-Account-Security
In a way, if he is ONLY getting hacked in GW2, and no where else, he is lucky so far. Hackers will try anything. And if the problem is a bad password (if the hackers know you use GwHZehr898 , they will keep that information and then next time try GwHZehr899 and GwHZehr897). For them it is a business, so they approach it like one.
So I guess the best steps for your friend would be:
Also, if your friend has other places where his email is his account name, such as Battle.net – have him check those accounts as well.
Thanks, mt!
Weird, I have honestly never noticed the single copper before, I would have sworn it is new. Mystery solved then.
Hey everyone.
I am wondering if maybe there is a bug currently with the Black Lion Chests. Generally, I would always have a couple of Black Lion Keys in the chests. So that while opening the chests, I would find a few more keys. I just used 25 keys, and not once did I find another key. Maybe I was super-unlucky, but so far, every 10ish keys I used to find another key.
Not only that, I kept getting one copper piece whenever I opened the chest. One single copper, straigth from the chest, not from the coin purses or similar items.
Did something break, perhaps?
A RL friend of mine started today in GW2. HE asked how vital buying gems is.
I said: Well, let’s open it and look at it.
The only thing I would suggest to him to buy currently, is the Harvesting sickle.
EVERYTHING ELSE is “nice to have” over “must have”. Skins, boosts and so on really do not make or break the game. (Heck, the Dragon helmet is not in the gem store,. it is at the fireworks party as a gift, so even that is not a rule of thumb).
Even the boosts are not something urgently needed. We were grouped and played for three hours, in which time he hit level 5. I am sure we could have gotten further, but he was having so much fun simply watching NPCs interact and checking out the artwork around the Iron Citadel that we did not play the whole time.
Things that he may want to get in time are things like bag slots on a main or bank slots… but that these things cost actually make sense to me. They are a service. In other MMOs you needed to have alt accounts and bank mules to do the same job.
Maybe I don’t see the gem store as serious because I have few expensive hobbies, so I can allow myself to buy gems once a month. But looking at everything I got on my account, really, nothing made or broke the game for me in the end.
She’s also stuck on Crystal Desert and I visited Blackwood and Ford Aspenwood – bugged out there, too.
May we please bribe someone for a server restart so she gets un-stuck? That seemed to have fixed her in the past when this happened.
